Chapter 1 - Advance! 1: Adventurers Meet.

Adventure-Lands, Our world was named after the many adventurers who resided in its vast plains. There were many kingdoms, and our story would begin in the Kingdom of Hirano.

It was the spring of Year 372. 4 days until a certain tragedy struck nearby.

Our protagonist, Hirayama Mizuki, had just turned 18. She climbed on top of the highest hill in Hirano and began shouting at the city. "Akihiko! I can finally become an adventurer!" She fell onto the grass after yelling, landing beside a tree.

As the sun began to set, she checked her watch. Her eyes widened as she realized what time it was. "Oh. I didn't realize how late it was, …maybe I'll take a nap…" She had just intended to take a nap, however she fell asleep on the hill. A slime passed by and approached her curiously.

Mizuki had begun to dream about her past, and what made her want to become an adventurer in the first place.

Year 354, The Kingdom of Hirano.

Within the confines of AmuseLost Hospital, the sounds of a baby crying bounced off the walls. Two individuals, Hirayama Masako, and Hirayama Tadashi had just witnessed their child's birth.

Tadashi glanced at Masako. "So… Any idea on what we should call her? I'm not very good with names…" Masako weakly laughed at his statement. "Mizuki. I thought of that name a couple hours ago…"

"Mizuki… That's a wonderful name, Masako!" He smiled at her as she went back to resting.

Hirayama Mizuki was born on this day. However, the dream continued.

Year 359, Hirano's Marketplace.

It was now Year 359, Masako and Tadashi decided to bring Mizuki along as they shopped at Hirano's Marketplace in the center of the Kingdom of Hirano.

Masako looked at Mizuki. "Mizuki, don't wander off too far… This marketplace is massive, you know…" She told her.

"It's fine, Masako. I can handle watching her even if it's from slightly far away." Tadashi laughed as Masako glared at him, causing him to stop laughing.

CLASH! The sounds of metal clashing were heard, Mizuki looked at Masako before asking. "Okaa-san, what is that noise?"

Masako looked over at Tadashi. "Oh, that is the sound of 2 adventurers training nearby, I think." He told her. Mizuki got curious and walked toward the source of the sounds.

"Hyah!" One of the adventurers swung their sword at the other, however the other dodged it and then he held his sword at their throat.

"Man, these swords may just be wooden but they're pretty strong." One of them said, the other laughed. "Yeah, that was good practice-" He noticed Mizuki staring at them.

"Um… Kid, you know you shouldn't be so close to a sword fight, right?" Tadashi and Masako walked up to them. "Don't worry, I'm pretty skilled at defending people myself." Tadashi reassured him.

"Oh, okay then… My name is Akihiko by the way, the one over there is Saburo." Mizuki looked at Akihiko before turning to face Masako.

"Okaa-san, can I become an Adventurer? They seem so cool!" Mizuki asked with excitement.

Akihiko looked confused. "You know you can't become an Adventurer until you turn 18, right? It used to be 16, however something happened that caused the age requirement to be raised, I think."

"Then… Can I become an Adventurer when I turn 18?" Mizuki asked Masako while looking at her with puppy dog eyes.

Masako began to think before sighing. "Sure… Just know, Mizuki. That being an adventurer is hard work, it's also risky at times." She told her.

Akihiko had a sudden idea appear in his head. "So, you're Mizuki? How about this, Saburo and I are about to go back to the adventurers guild, we will tell the receptionist to be expecting you when you turn 18. All right?" He explained.

Mizuki's smile widened. "Thank you, Akihiko!" Akihiko laughed. "I'm sure they won't mind me doing that."

Saburo sighed and briefly kicked his leg, but just as he did that, he noticed the time. "Ah, Akihiko, we need to get back to the guild, we still have that quest." He told him.

"Ah crap, you're right… It was nice meeting you, Mizuki. Maybe you will see me again one day, though we will probably be retired by the time you become an adventurer." Akihiko told her.

"Then… I promise I will become an amazing adventurer, Akihiko!" She told him, causing Akihiko to laugh.

"Yeah. You do that." As Akihiko and Saburo left toward the adventurers guild, Mizuki waved at them.

"Akihiko, are you sure we should tell the receptionist to expect her? What if she doesn't want to be an adventurer when she gets older?" He questioned skeptically.

"Oh yeah… You wouldn't have noticed, huh? That kid had some insane potential in her aura." Akihiko laughed.

Saburo glared at him before sighing reluctantly. "If you say so…" They entered the adventurers guild and told the receptionist about Mizuki.

Present Day, The East District of Hirano.

Mizuki slowly opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was… A slime? No… She looked human, but she was translucent. It startled her so she jumped back. "W-Who are you?" She questioned.

"U-Um… My name is Sli-Mai, but you could just call me Mai if you want… I'm a slime, but as you can see I'm in a human form right now…" She explained shyly.

"A slime…? How cool!" Mizuki said, causing Sli-Mai to look confused.

"Being a slime is… Cool?" She asked.

"Yeah! You can go places humans can't, right? I'd say that's cool!" Mizuki laughed.

"Anyway… Nice to meet you, Sli-Mai. My name is Hirayama Mizuki." She told her.

"N-Nice to meet you as well…" Sli-Mai shook her head.

"So… Do slimes usually watch people sleep?" Mizuki questioned.

"N-No… Slimes can somewhat detect if someone is having a good dream… I noticed that you were sleeping peacefully so I just kind-of watched you…"

"Oh… I see, that's nice!" Mizuki smiled before checking her watch. "Say, Sli-Mai, since it's the afternoon now, would you want to be an adventurer with me?" She asked.

"B-But… Would the adventurers guild even allow a slime to be an adventurer…?" Sli-Mai asked.

"I don't see why not… You don't seem like you're a harmful slime…" She reassured her.

"O-Okay… In that case… Let's become adventurers together, Mizuki." As Sli-Mai said that, the wind picked up causing leaves to fall off of the tree next to them.

"Wow… That wind was strong! That must mean we were fated to meet, Sli-Mai!" Mizuki giggled.

"I-I guess so…" She shook her head in agreement.

"Oh, but um… Before we go to the adventurers guild, there's a few people we need to see first." Mizuki told her.

"That's fine… Lead the way then…" Sli-Mai followed Mizuki off of the hill and into the East District.

"The first ones we have to go see are my parents…" She explained.

"Are your parents nice?" Sli-Mai asked as Mizuki responded. "Yeah! They're the nicest parents I could ask for." She smiled.

"Mizuki… There's a boy looking at us…" Sli-Mai got behind Mizuki as she noticed the boy standing in front of them.

"Do you want something from us?" Mizuki asked curiously.

"I overheard your conversation on the hill, you two are gonna head to the adventurers guild soon right?" He questioned.

"Yeah…?" Mizuki responded, then the boy spoke. "Could I join you? My name is Kubota Noboru."

"I was gonna head there myself… But I feel much more at ease with others…" He explained.

"You want to be in our adventurers party?! That saves so much time…" Mizuki laughed.

Sli-Mai glanced at Mizuki in confusion. "You didn't plan this out, did you?"

"Well… I figured going in there without a plan would be much easier!" She looked at Sli-Mai.

Kubota narrowed his eyes. "Yo, slime girl, I'm not gonna regret joining her party, am I?

"D-Don't ask me… I-I just met her only a few minutes ago." Sli-Mai told him.

They entered the North District and reached Mizuki's Residence. "Mizuki!" Tadashi shouted.

They walked up to Tadashi and Masako, who were standing outside. "Wow… Look at you, Mizuki. You already made 2 friends…" Masako smiled.

"Oh, right… Let me introduce you two, this is my mother, Hirayama Masako, and this is my father, Hirayama Tadashi." Mizuki told them.

"My name is Sli-Mai… And that boy over there is Kubota Noboru…" She told Mizuki's parents.

"Well it's nice to know you have two people protecting you already." Tadashi laughed.

"We should be going then… Since there's still one more person I want to go see…" Mizuki told them.

"Take care, Mizuki!" Both of her parents said as the three left toward a house nearby.

Standing outside was Akihiko, who was looking at the sky. "Akihiko!" Mizuki shouted, causing Akihiko to glance over at them.

"Oh, Mizuki, so you're finally gonna become an adventurer huh?" He asked.

"Yeah! I wanted to let you know before I went to the adventurers guild!" She smiled.

Akihiko handed them a bag of sandwiches. "I made these incase you were to come by, take them with you." He explained.

"Oh, thanks, Akihiko!" Mizuki took the bag and put it in her backpack.

"Now, go do what you've wanted to do since you were a kid, Mizuki." Akihiko laughed

They waved goodbye as they left for the adventurer guild.

Now back at the East District, they have reached their destination. The adventurers guild was a huge building in the middle of the East District.

"Finally, we made it!" Mizuki told them.

"T-That was a lot of walking back and forth…" Sli-Mai stated.

"Well, let's go in." Noboru said, as they walked inside they could not have been prepared for what would happen later. 3 days until a certain tragedy.
