A sudden flash of light pierced through Qin Feng's eyes.
Huh? I'm still alive... but how? he thought in sheer disbelief. It made absolutely no sense. He vividly remembered the jagged iron rebar driving clean through his chest, and he was certain it had shredded his heart.
Through his blurry vision, a figure passed right in front of him, carrying a box crafted from what looked like an earth-grade artifact. Two more figures followed closely behind. The trio made their way directly toward the spot where Qin Feng lay.
Who are these people? he wondered, trying to blink away the haze. Are they doctors? But his eyes refused to focus properly. Did the explosion blind me?
He fell silent for a moment, trying to process the chaos, before pushing the panic aside. He needed to be grateful he was even breathing. Still, as he squinted through the fuzziness, their traditional, ornate outfits became faintly visible. This definitely wasn't a modern hospital.
Wait, are they thieves? he thought, a spike of adrenaline hitting him. He tried to shout a warning, to tell them to back off, but what actually came out of his mouth was a high-pitched, pathetic squeak.
"Eeh! Eeh!"
What... what did I just do?
Qin Feng froze. His mind went completely blank as the bizarre, high-pitched sound echoed in his ears. He tried to lift his hands to touch his face, but what rose into his field of vision were two tiny, wrinkled, fragile little fists.
His pupils shrank in absolute horror. No way... don't tell me I've been turned into a baby! A profound chill ran straight through his soul.
In the very same room, the three figures were busy packing away various infant belongings, preparing to clear out the nursery. One of them, a servant with bright golden hair, caught a sudden movement out of the corner of his eye.
Huh? Was that just my imagination? the golden-haired servant thought, shaking his head. He turned to leave the room, but right then, Qin Feng shifted his tiny body, rolling over onto his stomach against the mattress of the crib.
The golden-haired servant gasped, his eyes widening in shock. "Young... Young Master! He's alive!"
The other two servants immediately lunged forward, grabbing his arms and hissing at him to shut up. "Stop it! Don't say such nonsense! The Young Master is dead, you saw it yourself. He drew breath for only a second after he was born before passing away. Be careful with your words—saying something like that in front of the Madam will get you executed!"
Before the servant could even finish his warning, a soft, small murmur echoed from the crib.
"Ngh... Ngh!"
The three figures froze dead in their tracks. Slowly, mechanically, they turned their heads to look directly at Qin Feng, who was squirming and making clear baby noises.
"AHHHHH!" All three of them shrieked simultaneously.
They bolted out of the nursery, tripping over their own feet in their haste to escape. "Ghost! A ghost! The room is haunted!"
The three figures rushed through the grand corridors in a blind panic, their faces completely drained of color, as if they had just encountered a terrifying, vengeful spirit.
"Madam! Madam! The Young Master has awakened!" the golden-haired servant screamed at the top of his lungs as they ran.
"Idiot! Shut your mouth!" one of the others hissed in absolute terror. "What if we're wrong?!"
They burst into the entrance of the mistress's private chamber and collapsed heavily onto their knees, their entire bodies shaking violently. Inside the room, a magnificent woman slowly turned around. Her expression was ice-cold, yet her features carried a deep, bottomless sorrow.
"What is the meaning of this disturbance?"
"Madam..." The golden-haired servant swallowed hard, his voice trembling as he pressed his forehead to the floor. "The... the Young Master... he is alive."
A suffocating silence instantly filled the chamber. The woman's eyes widened in profound shock before a terrifying, crushing pressure violently erupted from her body.
"What did you just say?"
In a fraction of a second, she vanished completely from her seat, reappearing directly in front of them like a phantom. The three servants collapsed flat against the floor, paralyzed by the sheer weight of her aura.
Meanwhile, back in the nursery, Qin Feng lay completely still, his tiny infant heart hammering against his ribs.
Damn it... I think I messed up big time, he thought, panic swirling in his tiny mind. Wait, do they know I'm a reincarnated soul? Why else would they be screaming about a ghost?
Before he could figure it out, the heavy nursery doors violently burst open. A massive, overwhelming aura flooded every corner of the room as the breathtakingly beautiful woman stepped across the threshold, her trembling, tear-filled eyes locking instantly onto the tiny baby in the crib.
