Chapter 1 - new beginnings

Deep in the mountains, on a path less traveled laid a corpse. The corpse was of a young man, who was in deep purple robes that had been torn to shreds. His black hair was disheveled and his entire body was covered in blood.

Yet a scene that went against the laws of nature began to play out. The corpse slowly rose to its feet, twisting in unnatural angles as its wounds began to close at visible speeds. While it's broken bones fell into place, and with a violent gasp for air the silence on the mountain was broken.

Where am l, what am l doing here, why does my body hurt, these where all questions that flooded Tevin's mind. Yet no matter how much he pondered no answer came to be, instead his questions grew.

He clearly remembered bleeding out on a battlefield, waiting for death as terrorist groups overrun the city. Yet here he was standing perfectly fine in a body that was not his own, in god knows where.

Finding no answers to his questions he began to look around. The the mountain he was standing on was jagged and lonesome, a vast pyramid of granite and ice that seemed to pierce the very heavens.

Around him he could see the remains of a broken path that seemed to be leading down the mountain. Taking a step foward he heard the dull clang of metal, looking down he saw that the grey mountain rock beneath his feet had been stained a deep red, alongside a rusted gaundao that was covered in blood.

Picking up the rusted weapon, he stared at it for a little while, before he continued making his way to the broken path. As he walked his bloody robes waved lightly in the mountain breeze like a broken banner escaping on the wind.

He walked down the broken path, heading further and further away from the mountain's peak. Yet the only signs of life he had seen where strange birds and old cart tracks.

Yet he was unperturbed and continued making his way down the mountain. On his way down, he traversed all sorts of terrain. Sometimes the path was covered in debris, most likely from a landslide which he had to climb. While other times sections of the path where missing most likely due to erosion.

Yet he made his way down regardless of the obstacles on his path. As he got further along on the path, light spring rain carried by a gentle breeze began to silently rain on him. The rain wasn't bad enough to leave him soaking wet yet, but it did make him shudder due to the cold.

Looking up Tevin saw It was already late in the night and the mountain was covered by darkness. Yet a few hundred meters ahead of him on the mountain path it was not covered by darkness.

In front of him dozens of tiny lights shone like a bright band. These lights shone from countless buildings that seemed to make up a village, showing the resilience of civilisation on the vast and lonely mountain.

Approaching the village he saw it was surrounded by a large wall of grey stone, that seemed to be impenetrable. Manning the walls seemed to be guards but they were ill equipped. Mostly wearing ill fitting leathers and armed with cheap weaponry some where even armed with bamboo spears.

The front gate of the village, which where two massive doors made of black ironwood and steel, where tightly shut. Hanging above the gate their was a large plaque made of oak wood with the words Mibu village inscribed in red paint.

Drawing nearer to the gate, Tevin could see two guards stationed outside. One was tall and lanky with bright blue eyes and a friendly face. The other guard was short with sunken cheekbones and murky eyes."He seems to frail to be a guard" Tevin thought with a sigh.

As Tevin was a few breaths away from the guards they lowered their weapons, pointing it at him. "Speak traveler, State your name and purpose" the frail looking guard mumbled.

"I'm just a weary soul seeking refuge from the rain and cold, if you need a name you my simply call me Tevin."

The frail guard tightened the grip around his spear causing his knuckles to turn white. "Turn back traveler, you are not welcomed here" the guard said with a stern voice.

Standing in absolute silence after hearing those words, Tevin's face had a cold indifferent expression. As if he was unbothered by the cold and rain battering his body, he turned and left.

Seeing the traveler walk away, the frail guard sighed in relief. Under normal circumstances he should have inspected the man and let him seek refuge in the village. But this traveler gave off him a sense of dread just like those martial masters in the county town.

First off his appearance was strange for the region they where in. His skin was dark brown like oak, his long black hair was both curly and disheveled. His robes were tattered and bloody yet he bore no wounds, he carried a rusted guan dao that was caked in blood. But the most terrifying part about him was his face. What made it terrifying was not the scars it bore nor it's handsome features it was his eyes. Two silver pupils that seemed to contain a cosmic cold both vast and indifferent as if they reflected the very heavens themselves.

...…

Further down the broken path under the spring rain, Tevin walked at a leisurely pace whistling a merry tune.

As he walked he gathered his thoughts and knowledge on what he knew. First from the things he saw it seemed that this place was in the medieval periods but he couldn't be to sure, but another thought was preoccuping his mind.

Finding decent prey to hunt. He didn't know when it had started but he was consumed by it. It was the only goal he pursued, it was what gave him strength each day, it was what he lived for. Stretching his hand out as if to grasp the moon, he let out a soft chuckle.
