Chapter 12: The First Trial - The Ultimate Catfight
As they journeyed to Queen Archandia's palace, a familiar face emerged from the shadows. Veronica "Edge" Wilds, a mysterious and deadly operative, stood before them, her eyes fixed on SpecLady and ShadowGirl.
"Where do you think you're going with that teacher?" Edge sneered, her voice laced with venom.
Karen, aka SpecLady, narrowed her eyes. "Who are you?"
Edge's smile was a cold, calculated gesture. "Me? Let me introduce myself." With a swift motion, she threw two daggers at SpecLady. Karen dodged with ease, but one of the blades scratched her face, drawing blood.
ShadowGirl attempted to activate her invisible mode, but Edge was too fast. She swiftly stabbed Stephanie in the arm, her movements almost supernatural.
SpecLady and ShadowGirl teamed up, Karen imitating Edge's movements in an attempt to counter her. However, Edge swiftly snatched the SpecBelt from Karen's hands. ShadowGirl activated her hyper-jump mode and landed a kick to Edge's stomach, but Edge's agility allowed her to dodge and counterattack. The SpecBelt was dropped, and SpecLady quickly retrieved it, activating it to enhance her abilities.
"You think you two weaklings can beat me?" Edge taunted, her eyes gleaming with amusement. "I haven't shown you my abilities yet."
"Let's see what you can do, bubble head!" SpecLady retorted, charging at Edge.
The battle raged on, with SpecLady and ShadowGirl working in tandem. However, Edge's mysterious abilities and agility proved too much for them. She landed a series of swift kicks and punches, sending both SpecLady and ShadowGirl crashing to the ground.
As Edge stood over them, victorious, Samantha picked up a stone and threw it at her. Edge dodged the attack with ease and charged towards Sam. But before she could reach her, Ian gathered energy in his right hand and blasted a beam of light at Edge. She dodged the attack with incredible speed, her eyes flashing with surprise.
"Woah! Easy there, cowboy," Edge smirked, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
"If you lay a hand on her, I'll make sure you'll be pulverized," Ian growled, his eyes burning with an inner fire. Edge noticed that his brown eyes had turned shiny orange, and for a moment, she hesitated.
"Guess you're lucky today, ladies. I'm outta here," Edge said, disappearing into the shadows as suddenly as she appeared.
As the girls caught their breath, SpecLady turned to Ian. "Thanks for the assist, Ian. But who is she?"
Ian's eyes still burned with intensity. "I don't know, but I'll find out."
Samantha approached Ian, concern etched on her face. "Ian, calm down. You're scaring me."
Ian's gaze softened as he looked at Sam. "Sorry, Sam. I just...can't let anyone hurt you."
Sam's eyes welled up with tears as she comforted Ian. "You were scary, Ian. Please don't lose yourself again."
Ian's face relaxed, and he smiled weakly. "I'm sorry, Sam. I promise I'll be more in control."
As Sam comforted Ian, he lent his hand to the wounds of the two Archandians, and they were healed completely. The girls were awestruck by Ian's abilities.
"Now, let us all go to the Queen, shall we?" Ian suggested, his voice calm and collected once more.
