Chapter 22: Warmth of Love
The assembly with the Earthians concluded, and King Vladimir bid farewell to Ian. "Are you going to Earth, brother? We could spend more time together here."
Ian smiled. "Yes, brother, I will be back for a couple of days. I just need a vacation with Sam."
Vladimir chuckled. "Hmmm, love is indeed thicker than blood." Ian laughed, and the brothers shared a warm moment.
As Ian prepared to leave, Vladimir opened a portal to Earth, and the Earthians were transported together with Ian. ShadowGirl teased Ian, "It's really nice to be back here after the insane fights we've had with the Corpse. Gladly, we deserved our break. What's the plan for today, Mr. Super Hero? I'm supposed to ask you for a date, but you're already taken, how unfortunate for me."
Karen playfully rolled her eyes. "Stop that flirting mode, Stephanie. You had all the boys you want, so back off. I guess Ian is more interested in me, not you." Warmits jokingly chimed in, "Wow, Karen! You're supposedly a hard-to-get girl, but why flirting with Ian all of a sudden? You still haven't said yes to my dinner invitations."
The group's banter was lighthearted and humorous, showcasing their camaraderie. Jack approached Ian, his expression more serious. "Look at those fools. Haha, they seem tough in battle, but they still have their humorous side. Anyway, Ian, you're fully aware now that you're Death's main target when he returns, but we'll train ourselves hard to keep you safe from him. You have my word, my Lord."
Ian smiled wryly. "It's awkward for me if you keep treating me as your Lord, Jack. I'm no different from you noble warriors. Just don't give me too much respect because I feel uncomfortable. Can you do that for me?"
Jack nodded. "Of course, Ian. See you around. Enjoy your time with Sam."
As the others bid their goodbyes, the Queen approached Ian. "Hi Ian. It has been a tough time for you to process everything you've learned. You really deserved to be treated like a god for what you did, but I'm really happy you're on our side."
Ian's smile was warm. "I'm also very happy to know all of you, your Highness. You're all my family now, and I'll do whatever it takes to protect you from Death and other invaders, just like how I'll protect Sam."
The Queen's eyes sparkled with amusement. "You silly Lord, go ahead and have a good time with her. She's very lucky. Don't let her wait. Enjoy!"
With that, Ian turned to Samantha, concern etched on his face. "Are you doing fine there, Sam? You look worried."
Samantha's voice trembled slightly. "I'm worried for you, Ian. What if Death tries to kill you, and we have nothing to do with it? What if James will overtake your body again, and you can't go back as Ian?"
Ian's lips brushed against hers, silencing her worries. "Don't worry too much, Sam. We have our well-deserved peace as of the moment, and we should enjoy it with less worry."
Samantha's cheeks flushed as she asked, "Can you kiss me one more?"
Ian's lips met hers again, and the warmth of their kiss enveloped them. As they pulled away, Ian asked, "Where do you want to go, Sam?"
Samantha's smile was radiant. "I want to go back to the Philippines for our dates. You should check on your family there."
Ian's face lit up with excitement. "Yes, Sam. I'll introduce you to my dad, mom, and my brother."
