Violet's POV
The warm scent of freshly baked bread drifted through the air, teasing my empty stomach and pulling me toward the bakery's glass window like a magnet. My mouth watered at the sight of golden loaves stacked behind the display, their crusts still glistening from the oven's heat. For a moment, I stood frozen, watching the way people smiled as they exchanged money for pastries, coffee, and warmth. And then reality hit me like a cold gust of wind.
I had no money.
No coins. No card. Not even a pocketful of loose change. Nothing.
I was no longer in the fairy realm where everything I needed appeared with a wish or a whisper. I was back in the human world—a place where every bite had a price tag and even kindness was often traded for something in return.
My stomach growled again, reminding me how fragile I was in this world.
