"HA!" My fist made contact with a wooden training dummy. I've been training hellishly for a week and The Man said I'd be fighting later today. The last seven days have changed my body in several different ways. Before I was scrawny and thin now I have a noticeable amount of muscle. My body is littered with small scars especially on my arms and legs. When I looked at myself in a mirror, something I should have done before, I thought I was pretty handsome for a twelve-year-old. My black hair that stopped just below my ear, my light brown eyes that accented my black hair, and my height of around 5'5.
I continued punching the wooden dummy with my bandage gloves. It's gotten to a point in which I like bandage gloves over real gloves. I also took the weighted clothing off and it made me a lot faster but I've trained with them for so long I think I like them on. I'm becoming more and more like that one kid from Naruto I think his name was Stone Free? Anyways, I've also begun developing my own martial arts. It consists of really fast punches and kicks, I know very basic but I've just started. I don't have a badass name for it right now so it's just called Snake.
The first movement of Snake is a punch and kick combo. This is the only movement, but I intend to include others. Anyways, the kick and punch combo are clocked at around 25mph. Not very fast but I can use it a lot before getting tired. The combo can also be separated into two forms that I call the Serpents. The first form is a really fast punch clocked at 55mph that I call Serpentine Fist. It's powerful enough to make a fist crater in a boulder. The second form is a kick clocked at 60mph that is called Serpentine Kick, I know so creative. This kick is powerful enough slightly bend an iron bar. The amount of pain that I went through to test that is unspeakable.
"Still training?" I stopped punching the dummy and saw Yumi standing at the door. Over the past week, me and Yumi have become friends, kinda.
"Yeah, it's the only thing I'm really allowed to do in this place." Yumi rolled her eyes and signaled for me to follow her. I followed Yumi out of the training facility and we began to talk.
"You have a fight in 10 minutes." I'm a little excited. I want to see if my training really paid off.
"Who am I up against? Please don't tell me it's another grown man." If it is I'm probably going to lose again but not as bad as I did against Ogun. Yumi laughed slightly and shook her head.
"No, it's a kid who's around your age. His name is Jun." Oh great! My chances of winning may have gone up. But by the look on Yumi's face probably not.
"Monkey," Yumi stopped walking and grabbed my shoulders, "This is a deathmatch. So be careful." A WHAT?! Who the hell set me up for a deathmatch?!
"A deathmatch? Aren't we two kids? Are people really going to watch two kids fight to the death!?" If they are then this world is sick. Yumi nodded and I sighed in disappointment.
"That's why I want you to be careful. The people paying to watch this are mostly rich people with sick hobbies." Yumi said the last part of her sentence with anger. What could she be angry at? Two kids fighting to the death or rich people and their sick hobbies? I'm going to guess both. Yumi and I continued to walk in silence until we reached the stone hallway and I heard the cheers of a crowd and the announcer.
"Be careful and good luck Monkey." Yumi hugged me and I was shocked for a second but I hugged her back. Now I have to win, that's basically a death flag! Yumi let go of me and began walking back to the infirmary. I sighed and walked forward.
"ON THE LEFT WE HAVE JUN THE UNCHAINED!!" I saw as a blue-haired boy around my age walked out from the left side of the arena. He had some muscle on him and I'd estimate we were around the same height. The crowd cheered for Jun and he just ignored it.
"AND ON THE RIGHT WE HAVE MONKEY KUSABARE!!!" When am I going to get a badass title? Sure saying my full name is kinda cool but something like Monkey the Ravager would be badass. As I walked onto the arena I tightened my bandage gloves and my bandage leg guards. The bright lights of the arena blinded me for a moment but I quickly adapted. The crowd cheered and I stood six feet apart from Jun.
"NOW LET THE MATCH BEGIN!!" A bell rang and Jun charged forward at me with a right hook. I leaned back a bit and counter attacked with my own right hook. I hit Jun in the face and he simply shook off my punch. He tried punching me with a left hook and I ducked under it only to be hit in the head with a knee.
"OH, AND JUN HITS MONKEY WITH A STRONG KNEE TO THE FACE!!" I was stunned for a short moment but that was enough for Jun to punch me in the gut.
"KAH!" I didn't cough up any blood and it was mostly saliva. I grabbed Jun's fist that was on my stomach and I began to squeeze. Jun struggled to get his fist out of my grasp and tried hitting me with his left fist again. I caught that one as well and once I had both fists I kicked Jun right in the chest.
"GUH!" Jun had the wind knocked out of him, so I let go of his fist, and he dropped to his knees trying to breathe. I took the opportunity to kick Jun in his chin sending him sliding across the dirt floor. Jun was stunned for a split second before he got up and got into a weird stance. I put my guard up to defend against anything he fired at me.
"Mantis Step!" Jun became a blur for a quick moment and my eyes couldn't track him. Moments later he was right in front of me with a cocked back fist. I put my arms in an X to guard against his next move.
"Lion's Paw!" The force in which Jun hit my arms was unfit for his age and size. Although I blocked I felt the force travel throughout my entire body and I was sent back around 10ft. I rolled backwards and used the momentum from earlier and used my hand to jump upwards. Once I landed on my feet I had to force myself to dodge an attack.
"Mantis Jab!" I tilted my body to the left and even then I felt the wind from the punch blow on my cheek. I used Jun's brief opening to punch him in the ribs.
"Serpentine Fist!" My left fist hit Jun in his ribs and I felt something fracture under my fist. Jun was sent rolling for about 15ft before he got up and held his left side with his right hand.
"IT LOOKS LIKE MONKEY HAS HIT JUN WITH A POWERFUL PUNCH! WILL JUN RECOVER?!" I didn't allow Jun to catch his breath and I dashed forward at 25mph. Jun was surprised at my speed and placed his arms in an X to block. I stopped right in front of Jun and used the momentum from my running to aid my kick.
"Serpentine Kick!" My 60mph kick hit Jun on his right side and he managed to block it but not without being sent rolling and his arm taking damage. Using those two attacks in succession is tiring and I can feel the fatigue starting to build up. Jun got up off the ground and spit blood on the ground before getting into another stance.
"I will not die here." Oh, he can talk? Focus! Jun ran forward in a zigzag and my eyes could keep up. Once Jun got in front of me he tried using the same Mantis Jab from earlier but I counterattacked with a Serpentine Fist and our punches collided.
Jun and I continued to trade blows with the occasional block or dodge in the mix. Our fight went on for 30 minutes and I could tell he was tired. I put my bloody hands up and Jun did the same.
"Mantis Step!" Jun dashed forward and followed with a butterfly kick. I leaned back and once he finished his attack he was left open. I used this opportunity to use the first movement of Snake, Slithering Serpent.
"Slithering Serpent!" I speed blitzed Jun and punched him in the face with a very strong right hook. I followed with a left-handed uppercut and finished with a strong kick to Jun's chest. The kick was strong enough to send Jun into the nearby arena wall which was around 25ft away. Jun didn't get up and his mouth was leaking blood like a water fountain, I also saw a couple of teeth come out. I walked over the Jun and saw the depression from my kick in his chest. I probably broke his ribs and one of them probably punctured his lungs.
I heard Jun's difficulty breathing and I knew he was going to die here. Jun coughed up more blood and looked up at me.
"E-End...it..." I wanted to vomit, cry, and scream. I was going to have to kill him if I wanted this fight to be over. I had to do it, there is no alternative. I strengthened my will and cocked back my leg.
"Serpentine Kick!" I kicked Jun in his neck and felt it break under my leg. At that very moment, I wanted to cry in agony but I couldn't, not in front of the crowd.
"AND MONKEY KUSABARE ENDS THE MATCH WITH A CRUNCH!!" This world is sick. When I look up all I see are smiles, laughs, and cheers. WHAT ARE YOU CHEERING FOR!? The rage boiled within me and I never wanted to willingly kill so many people until today. I left the arena and walked to the infirmary where I saw Yumi sitting on her chair reading a martial arts book. Once I walked in and closed the door I broke down.
"Monkey!" Yumi ran over to me and hugged me I continued to cry in her arms until I was done.
"Yumi." Yumi looked down in question.
"Yes, Monkey?" She asked.
"What's your driving force?" I wanted to know her meaning of life, what drives her to continue each day. Yumi looked shocked at my question and stayed quiet for a moment before answering.
"My mother's legacy. She was the only person in this world to support everything I did, even if it went against what she thought was correct. I will never allow her legacy to be tarnished." Yumi's words brought more tears to my eyes, who knew someone who was around my age could be carrying such a burden?
"Thanks for telling me," I slowly got up and Yumi let go of me, "I hope I didn't inconvenience you with my crying." Yumi smiled and rustled my hair.
"It's fine Monkey, you just killed someone for the first time. It gets to everyone, trust me." I know I've only known Yumi for a week but I think I'm in love. I can also feel the fatigue starting to affect me and I think my body is giving up.
"Good, then I'll have to inconvenience you once more, sorry." After saying that I blacked out. I wonder what Yumi's life was like before this.
