Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: The Resistance of the Wreckage

After the thief dispersed, the ground was empty.

After the soldier dispersed, a crystal stone flickered slightly.

It's coming, it's coming, thanks to the mist.

Carefully pick it up.

[Golden Desire]

[Magic Materials]

[Color: Copper]

[Attributes: Slight increase in Magic Stone Energy]

[Explanation: Even in death, the desire for wealth cannot be extinguished.]

A battery for the magic stone, there's another piece of material in the bag that can charge silver magic power.

These relatively valuable things can only be carried with me, Kane longs for a protagonist's essential space equipment.

Kane has looked it up, and the cheapest space equipment costs 1000 gold. Be patient, let the money pouch grow full.

After tidying up, he arrives at the ambush point in the woods, but there's nothing there.

A little disappointment, tidy up the mood, and continue towards the final location.

On the road, he didn't walk for long before Kane knew he was about to reach the place.

Looking at the thieves' camp on the map's edge, behind the camp is a white mist wall reaching into the clouds.

This means Kane directly crossed this dungeon, which also indirectly confirms the dungeon's small size.

However, Kane also saw this dungeon's map in the data, just an irregular strip.

On a wooden pole at the camp entrance, a skeleton hangs, signaling that the people here are not to be messed with, warning those seeking trouble to first consider this skeleton's fate.

Kane finds a big tree with a good view, swings up using spider silk, and crouches.

Under Eagle Eye's vision, the entire thief camp is laid out.

In the tent in the middle of the camp, there's a humanoid magic reaction, the only one with a magic reaction in the camp.

This should be the final boss.

There are 4 archers patrolling on the camp's wooden wall, and 2 teams, totaling 10 thieves, patrolling at the bottom of the wall.

The other tents in the camp show no magic reaction, not sure if anyone is inside, but still need to be careful when the time comes.

Just like that, crouching atop the tree, he carefully observes the camp.

Soon, using the cover of night, Kane quietly sneaks to the back of the camp.

This area is out of the archers' sight, but the patrol team will come here, Kane prepares to wait for them like a rabbit.

Hanging upside down on a nearby tree, a patrol team of thieves is slowly coming.

When they're right next to Kane, he leaps into the air, lunging towards the thief patrol team.

"Constructing, Silent Cage"

The thieves are suddenly trapped in an invisible cage, 5 people crammed together, unable to make a sound.

Like that, it's as if they're caught by an invisible giant hand, floating and dragged into the woods.

In the shadows of the woods, shadows flash.

Kane reappears at the same place, continuing the ambush, only a few drops of blood on his cheek telling of what just happened.

Another team of thieves appears in sight, Kane quietly ambushes, the hunter has already locked onto his prey.

The thieves appear again in the same position.

Same trick again.

Kane reappears at the top of a big tree beside the camp, taking up a bow stance.

The four archers on the camp's wooden wall fall in succession, their faint movements covered by the night's gentle breeze.

Kane silently swings onto the wooden wall, aims three arrows at the final boss, and turns and runs before seeing the result.

There are too many tents in the camp, and Eagle Eye's vision can only target magical objects, who knows if these tents hide people.

Better lead him to the open space at the entrance.

A roar of rage sounds from within the camp, seems like it hit the mark.

Kane stands at the camp's entrance, holding his spear, waiting resolutely, deciding to confront this boss head-on.

A small figure charges out from the camp, with ordinary looks and attire, if not for the dual daggers in hand, he'd just look like an ordinary passerby.

He stops 5 meters in front of Kane, hunches over, holding his daggers one forward, one backward.

They face off in silence, time passes slowly, the leader without much sense was the first to attack.

He charges straight at Kane, who counters with a thrust of his spear.

But just as it was about to hit, he dodges, suddenly flashing to Kane's left just before closing in, throwing a pinch of purple powder in the process.

The powder mysteriously sticks to the air.

Fool.

Kane chuckles inwardly, taunting.

Suddenly, a strand of spider silk appears at the thief leader's feet, causing him to lose balance.

However, his martial arts are quite skilled, a one-handed side flip almost regaining his balance.

Seeing the direction he's flipping, Kane can barely suppress his grin.

The thief leader's flip is only halfway through, when a crash against the wall sounds.

He abruptly finishes his flip, crashing into an air wall, then falling down.

Seizing this chance, Kane lunges his spear at the downed thief leader, who tries to evade but it's too late.

He can only avoid vital spots, jerking his head aside, one arm pierced through by the spear, firmly pinning him to the ground.

The thief leader swiftly swings a dagger, slicing off his right arm with his left-hand dagger, then rolling a few times to stand up.

He then retreats, clutching his right arm, hopping out of Kane's attack range.

Kane, puzzled by the thief leader's actions, wonders if he intends to flee, can't be, right?

At this moment, the sky darkens, the thief leader raises his head to the sky, and Kane can't help but look up.

A massive hole suddenly rips open in the sky, revealing thick white mist, shattered fragments turning into a few red ribbons.

The ribbons drift down to the thief leader below, the red glow pouring into his body.

Now the thief leader grows to about 2 meters, eyes flickering red, trailing afterimages, even his severed right arm regrows, roaring defiantly at the night.

Can't afford to play anymore, resorting to cheating, beginning a second phase.

This scene closely resembles the special situations Kane learned about in the Explorer's Professional Guide.

Two types of people are dubbed lucky by explorers, one is the tempted novice. Just from this, it's clear that the term 'lucky ones' from explorers is dualistic.

The other is when a dungeon is on the verge of fully dissolving, the dungeon instinctively gambles everything, this time explorers need to be wary, as the dungeon's monsters are about to get buffed.

The phenomenon is described as the dungeon's sky, earth, and ocean beginning to shatter.

If you're going to cheat, don't blame me for going all-out.

After his initial astonishment, Kane calms down, if you ask why, it's because even in his second phase, the thief leader's magic reaction is still far below the vine tree monster.

The advantage is mine.

After roaring, the thief leader extends his daggers, already enlarged by unleashed magic power.

He turns into a black shadow, charging at Kane, his towering figure appearing so graceful.

Unfortunately, Kane is now full of firepower, the 'Shielding the Sky' in his hand has already unleashed its skill 'Traitor', and his spear pierces with advanced penetration.

Rushing towards the thief leader, Kane's spear tip aimed at his heart, his daggers slashing towards Kane's head.

'Shielding the Sky' meets no resistance, effortlessly slicing through as though hot knife through butter, piercing the thief's heart.

Yet the thief leader's daggers are blocked by the air on both sides of Kane's head, as if striking an iron wall.

I'm wearing heavy armor now.

The thief leader's strength fades, both hands gripping the spear lodged in his chest, kneeling down.

He lifts his head to the sky, the red glow in his eyes long since faded.

Seemingly regaining some consciousness, he murmurs quietly towards the sky.

Kane watches him murmur, his hands slipping downwards, his body beginning to dissipate, the world starting to break apart.

Raging white mist sweeps in from the breach, Kane does not flee, instead quietly waits.

The white mist sweeps over, and Kane disappears with the dissolving world.
