"I don't see how any of this is my problem." I said bluntly over the line. "It's your problem because it's about you. When you were just an elite level trainer on the way to champion level nobody cared what you did since it wasn't that hard to stop you with another elite, at least that was what those old fogies seemed to think. Now though you are so close to champion level that your lack of ties and restraints is a serious matter for concern. Champions aren't exactly plentiful so it's much much harder to stop one if they go bad." She said helplessly.-
"They do realize that if I was going to cause problems I likely already would have right?" I said with a roll of my eyes. "That has been brought up but it was never about that. It's a matter of control for the league. You get paid to fix the organized crime you come across by the league but if for some reason you became a criminal yourself you would be extremely hard to take down. The fact of the matter is that every psychology profile we have of you says your only weakness is your pokemon." -
"We can't exactly exploit that to keep you under control since they are the reason you are so dangerous to begin with. To be honest I saw this coming once I saw how powerful your pokemon were. It was why I tried so hard to get you to stay before, to try and give some assurance that you weren't a loose cannon." she said tiredly. "It's not as though it matters as theres nothing that the league can do to restrain me that won't cause me to lash out instead."-
"I can't be forced into a job I didn't ask for and trying to restrict my ability to travel will only make me mad and more likely to do something we will both regret in the future. Beyond that it's not as though I will be creating many more blood baths to begin with since there is only one major criminal organization left. Admittedly it's also the toughest bone of the lot to chew up though." I said with a shrug. "Team Rocket, I heard what you told Byron and as much as I would like to believe you are wrong your record speaks for itself." She said darkly.-
"I also wish I was wrong but the facts are the facts. Team Rocket is simply too active and in the open to not have some sort of big backing in the league somewhere. If I were a betting man I'd even say that whoever it is would definitely not want me to be able to wander freely and possibly go to Kanto and Johto. As you said my record speaks for itself and I have this really unfortunate habit of dismantling criminal organizations so Rocket has plenty of reason to want me to stay as far from them as possible."-
"The conspirators may even suggest something like making me officially in charge of somewhere I couldn't do any harm like Orre. They may even try and bind me to Sinnoh since It's the furthest from Rocket you can get." I said with a shrug. "There have been suggestions to try and get you to go back to Orre in an official capacity from a few of those from Kanto. You think these people are part of Rocket?" she asked seriously. "Depends on who it is. I have some suspicions about the identity of a few of these backers but it's entirely possible that someone innocent could make this suggestion as well, hard to say for certain." I said honestly.-
The only important figure in the league I knew for a fact was behind Rocket was Giovanni since he outright was revealed in the games as such when you foil Rockets plans and storm their bases. Saying that he was alone however made absolutely no damn sense as he was certainly good but he wasn't THAT good, nobody is. The man had accomplices who were also important people but the issue was figuring out who they were accurately.-
If I met them in person I could pin point them as I had the system that could tell me through and analysis but again I had to physically meet the people first and they absolutely didn't want to do that. Why would they when they all know that if I figure out that they are part of rocket I'll kill them or make them wish for death? You don't run something like Rocket if you weren't selfish to some degree and that meant none of these people will risk me getting my hands on them if they can help it.-
"So far it's been Giovanni, Lt. Surge, Koga and Sabrina who suggested binding you to Orre in an official capacity with Koga being the one to put forward the idea." she said seriously. "I'm not surprised the poison master who is also the current head of a literal ninja clan would see my way of doing things as a threat to his home. Ironically he was one of the few people I am actually almost certain isn't behind Rocket, too much honor and tradition in him for that. Could be wrong though so don't cross him off the list just yet." I said with a frown.-
Giovanni and Lt. Surge I had on my list of people I was nearly certain was behind Rocket however. Lt. Surge for two reasons that fit the organization well, he was cruel and served with Giovanni in the war. The electric type gym leader was extremely well known for how much pleasure he took in stomping newbies who came to challenge his gym. Many had even had pokemon be crippled or killed in these challenges and then labeled "accidents". If he wasn't behind Rocket there was a serious problem as the league kept letting him go with a warning since he never outright committed a crime.-
Look I get why my own cruelty was something that was turned a blind eye to in the league. I was only vicious with criminals for the most part but Surge did this regularly to normal trainers just trying to get a badge. Frankly speaking he shouldn't even be a gym leader with how bad he makes the league look with his conduct as a gym leader.
