"Hmm? Oh no, is that attack aiming at Thor?"
Tohka hadn't even arrived at the scene when she saw a bolt of lightning flash across the sky, and the floating Manhattan began to slowly fall. But the God of Thunder reacted quickly—his figure flickered and flew beneath Manhattan, supporting it like Superman as it slowing its descended.
And at that moment, Tohka arrived just in time to see Graviton smashed against a wall by Thor's hammer. She didn't notice where Iron Man and the others had gone, but seeing the Graviton instantly reignited her fury.
The bastard had dared to attack while she was protecting Miku Izayoi. Now that Thor was holding up Manhattan, she had no more concerns—she grabbed her massive sword and charged straight in.
Elsewhere, the Graviton had taken a direct hit from Thor's hammer.
Though he'd managed to resist most of the impact with gravitational force, he was still dazed. As he opened his eyes, he saw a girl in purple armor charging straight at him. Even so, he still raised his hand.
"Tch, this guy..."
Flying toward Graviton, Tohka instantly felt a repulsive force. But she was prepared—there was no way she'd fall for that again. She pushed her power to the max and charged forward against the force.
Boom!
As Manhattan slowly descended, the group below finally sighed in relief. At this rate, it wouldn't crash hard enough to cause major damage. While they were strategizing how to deal with the Graviton, they suddenly saw a violet streak shoot toward him—followed by a deafening explosion and a cloud of dust.
"Whoaah, looks like she's here." Tony was the first to react. That figure was all too familiar to him. He let out a breath of relief.
"So that's the Tohka you mentioned? I should thank her for pulling me out of the ice."
Seeing this, the spandex-clad Captain America also relaxed. These past few days, aside from rehab and adapting to the new era, he had been paying attention to recent events. Tohka's name was one of the first he'd noticed.
"Hey hey, are we really just gonna sit here and watch? You're saying we're letting the young lady take on the enemy alone? That's kinda lame, isn't it?"
Spider-Man swung into view, complaining as he hung upside down from a web. He clearly wasn't comfortable doing nothing.
"What can you do, though? Spiders don't fly. And we're not doing nothing. If something goes wrong, we'll jump in right away."
Tony looked helplessly at the eager Spider-Man. He knew this kid had mostly been chasing muggers lately. Finally getting a chance to do something big, he was excited—but right now, jumping in wouldn't help.
"Alright, I'll wait then."
Hanging upside down from his web, Spider-Man could only look helplessly at Manhattan. His heart was pounding—one mistake, and the death toll would be unimaginable.
"Die!"
Tohka had no idea what the others were saying. She was currently chasing down Graviton. He wasn't as powerful as Apocalypse, but he was incredibly annoying. His alternating use of gravity and repulsion made it hard for her to land a hit.
Still, Tohka relentlessly slashed with her massive sword, sending wave after wave of energy at him. The Graviton was in rough shape.
After exhausting his energy earlier and getting hammered by Thor, he was now being hunted by a very angry Tohka. Unable to summon much more power, he could only scramble and dodge.
Like that, their battle drove deeper underground, into the lower bedrock of Manhattan. Neither noticed that Manhattan had continued its slow descent.
Tohka soon felt seawater rushing through a gap she had slashed open. But she didn't care—she activated her shield and continued her pursuit.
"Uh, um... is she gonna be okay?"
Watching Manhattan begin to flood, Spidey nervously asked the others. Going underwater like that? He knew he wouldn't survive.
"Don't worry about her. Worry about the possible tsunami. Let's start evacuating civilians. As for the four S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, I've already ordered Fury to send them to the far side."
Tony replied, eyes locked on the water. He knew Manhattan's foundation was massive. Even though it was descending slowly, the displacement alone would cause waves. Unlike Superman, Thor couldn't carry a continent.
BOOM!
Just as Tony finished speaking, Manhattan finally touched down. At the same time, a series of white ripples spread across the ocean. While small compared to Manhattan itself, they were more than enough to cause a tsunami.
With no time to waste, the team sprang into action. Saving everyone was impossible, but they'd do everything they could to minimize casualties.
Back on Manhattan's streets, two explosions rocked the area. Tohka and the battered Graviton burst forth from underground.. Tohka was fine—but Graviton was a mess. One of his arms was gone, clearly cut off by Tohka.
"Aaagh!"
Graviton screamed in pain as he clutched his severed arm. Now he was truly afraid. Earlier, Tohka had been holding back to protect Miku, but now she was going all out—and the killing intent was clear. He had thought himself a god—but now realized someone was stronger.
Desperate to survive, he forgot all about his grudge with Nick Fury. He turned and ran.
"Trying to run? Not a chance."
Tohka spotted his movements instantly. There was no way she was letting this bastard get away—not after everything he'd done.
"Hmph."
The Graviton did what every villain eventually tries: using his powers, he tore an entire building from its foundation and hurled it at Tohka.
