Chapter 221 - Changing Perceptions, Another Tragedy at the Hands of the God Slayer

As an evil god, Amatsu-Mikaboshi harbored ambitions far greater than most deities.

During his time in the Almighty City, he indulged in endless revelry alongside Zeus and the other gods. However, his true purpose went far beyond mere entertainment.

One of his goals was to corrupt the gods—lulling them into lives of decadence and complacency, stripping them of their fighting spirit, and sapping their bravery.

It seemed his plan was working.

The Almighty City had indeed become a place of divine corruption.

Once a formidable and heroic leader, Zeus had degenerated into a weakened, overweight recluse.

However, Aaron's arrival changed everything.

The introduction of the magic net reignited the gods' thirst for power.

Fortunately, the Heavenly Father-class gods remained detached, merely observing or opposing the changes. Meanwhile, the greater and lesser gods, whose numbers were vast, had become embroiled in an intense struggle for believers—each desperate to strengthen themselves.

Watching their rapid rise in power, Amatsu-Mikaboshi grew uneasy.

He, too, sought strength—but he had to surpass them all. If he failed to outpace his divine rivals, he would never stand a chance once former minor deities ascended to the ranks of main gods or even kings of gods.

That would be a nightmare.

Determined to secure his place, Amatsu-Mikaboshi left the Almighty City, embarking on a relentless quest for power.

The magic net had certainly disrupted his original plans, but it also presented a new opportunity—one that could serve as the foundation for his rise. If wielded correctly, it would grant him the most primal accumulation of power, setting the stage for his eventual counterattack against the ruling gods.

Glancing one last time at the Almighty City, its brilliance fading into the distance, Amatsu-Mikaboshi turned away, never looking back.

His destination?

The endless expanse of the universe.

Asgard—Under Siege

Led by Gorr, the shadow monsters launched a surprise assault on Asgard.

Using the All-Black Necrosword, Gorr managed to deceive Heimdall's gaze, slipping past Asgard's defenses and opening a battlefield at the very heart of the realm.

His goal?

The complete annihilation of the Realm Eternal.

But he had gravely underestimated Asgard's current strength.

In an effort to fully harness the power of the magic net, Odin had exposed several mystical zones brimming with arcane energy—sending only his most trusted and loyal followers to study them.

Anyone who even hinted at an allegiance to Aaron was discreetly eliminated by Li Ding.

Only true royalists remained.

This served two purposes:

To secure Thor's future rule, ensuring that no outside factions, whether Light Elves, Dwarves, or the Vanir, could challenge Asgard's supremacy.

To prevent insurrection from Asgard's two remaining Titan Clans.

The lands of these races were inherently magical—each possessing natural wonders equal to Asgard's power.

Yet, it was through relentless conquest that the Aesir had subjugated them, claiming their place as Lords of the Nine Realms.

However, this conquest had drained Asgard's strength, halting its expansion.

Recently, the Dwarves had made great strides in the magic net, harnessing their dying stars, Flame Titans, and Frost Titans to fuel their advancements.

If Odin failed to act, Asgard's lower and mid-tier forces would be outpaced by other civilizations.

Recognizing this, Odin used his Nine Realms authority to train an elite force of battle-mages, ensuring Asgard's continued dominance.

Thus, when Gorr's forces attacked, they were met with unexpected resistance.

At first, Gorr assumed that his shadow monsters, forged in the field of shadows, would be at least equal to Asgard's royal guards—perhaps even stronger.

But the moment battle commenced, he realized how wrong he was.

"Why are there so many powerful mages in Asgard?!""Damn it! These are supposed to be tricks used by that sorceress!""How did they master such magic?!"

From all directions, arcane blasts rained down upon his forces.

Though he could summon endless hordes of shadow monsters, their losses were staggering.

Following his brutal defeat at the hands of Hela, his army had already been significantly weakened.

Now, faced with Asgard's new mage corps, they were being slaughtered en masse.

If this continued, even lesser gods could overpower him.

"I won't lose!""You will all become the souls of my blade!""Gods deserve to die!!"

Fueled by rage, Gorr charged forward—only to be intercepted by Thor.

Gorr's Defeat—Thor's Strength Revealed

And just like that—there was no more battle.

Gorr had lost.

Armed with the Stormbreaker, bolstered by raw magical power, Thor crushed Gorr effortlessly.

Yes, Thor now wielded an axe.

Hearing of the rumored God Slayer, Odin had urgently summoned the Dwarves, demanding the creation of Stormbreaker.

Though the Dwarves had been obsessed with the magic net, neglecting their forgework, Odin's constant oversight ensured they did not abandon their traditional craft entirely.

Unlike in the movies, Stormbreaker's handle was not Groot's arm—but pure Uru metal.

While its power relative to the MCU version was unclear, one thing was certain: for this Thor, it was a monumental upgrade.

Compared to his MCU counterpart, Thor had become far stronger, enhanced by magic and combat mastery.

Meanwhile, Gorr had no such enhancements.

Weakened from attacking Asgard too soon, he was utterly outmatched.

The battle ended swiftly.

Gorr, stunned.

Thor, bewildered.

His shadow army, crushed by Asgard's mages, led by Irene.

His own body, slain three times, forcing him to flee in disgrace.

Thor's Ascension—Asgard's Strength

Watching the battlefield being cleared, Thor muttered in disbelief:

"Was this God Slayer really that weak?"

A deep, gravelly voice answered.

"No, my son. It is not that the God Slayer is weak—You have become stronger."

At some point, Odin had appeared beside Thor, observing the battlefield.

With a solemn sigh, he acknowledged the truth:

Asgard had never been stronger.

Although it had lost:

Its massive standing army

The legendary Valkyries

Hela, its Goddess of Death

Loki, now scheming in the shadows

It had gained something greater.

A new Asgard—built on power and magic.

Thor's strength now rivaled Odin's prime.

And Odin himself, though aged, could still hold the throne.

More importantly, Asgard's new Mage Corps surpassed the Valkyries—its overall might reaching unprecedented levels.

With this victory, Odin saw only one path forward.

Thor would become King.

Gorr's Next Move—The Hunt for the God of Magic

Retreating to his Shadow Realm, Gorr seethed.

Twice, he had suffered humiliating defeats at the hands of Asgard's gods—first Hela, now Thor.

Why was Asgard so powerful?

His answer came swiftly.

Aaron.

The God of Magic still resided on Earth.

And now, Gorr had a new target.

This time, he would not fail.

He swore it.
