I walked into the room with an expectant heart. I felt my feet fickle a bit because I saw Thane seating resplendently on the big black chair. His staff had already taking up the front row seats and my staff assumed the position of the empty chairs.
I sat down in between Andrew and Jason while Stacie was Juxtaposed to me. I could not look up, I could sense that Thane had been staring at me from where he had sat. I heard Stacie giggle a bit. I could not believe that I would have to endure this everyday. I heard him clear his throat and he got up from his chair. I wasn't still looking up but I could hear his chair move. That was his chair right. I looked up and I saw him whispering into an apparent workers ears. His eyes went to my direction and he continued whispering.
" Good day everyone, please can we acknowledge CEO Peace in our midst right now."
The whole company went feral as they applauded me. I felt bubbly inside, why were his excited to see me. He couldn't have told them that I was his wife. Everyone just stared at me and had a smile on their faces. Well I was beyond feeling acknowledged. I was heightened feeling of shyness.
A woman appeared to me and told me to move forward to a chair that looked similar to Thanes and was directly next to his. Were we playing king and queen here? He did not really have to do all this.
After he saw me sitting down he started " All right, sales manager, give us your report."
" I am Mr wale, this company's sale manager. As we all know" the sales manager a man who had an upright posture and a slim physique figure walked to the front and turned on a slide with a remote in his hand.
" Ever since we had distributed three headqauters over the whole Abuja and in 5 more states. The industry has been sky rocketing in market sales. We even gained more popularity when we partnered with green foods." Everyone began to clap again for no obvious reason, wait on second thought. They were clapping for My company.
" But I still feel that our sales can be a lot more better if we were to advertise to the nation that we weren't in partnership with Genetic modified foods anymore. I discussed with the personnel manager which showed me the percentage of people who weren't heading down to the vegetables, fruits and ornamental section because from the questionnaire statistics, they believe that foods and products that we sell are all GMO's. we have been able to remonstrate it in most of the supermarkets branches in Abuja but what happens to our other branches? We surely don't want our valued vegetables, fruits and flowers being distributed by our partner Ms. Peace to be wasted do we?"
I raised up my hands and I looked up to Thane
" You may speak Ms. Peace"
" So what do you suggest we do?"
" Actually, I don't really know ma'am, I tried thinking about a solution but I decided to come share it with everyone so that we could give our cogent solutions too."
I got up from my seat and I walked up to where the sales manager stood, so that I could speak better with the in-built microphone around the stage and slide
" I would suggest that we start up an awareness troope, one where we set up charity- awareness pop ups on the street. Educating people about the importance of fresh fruits and veggies from the garden, handing out fresh fruits to the needy and to people passing along. The baskets would contain the logo of Get it, so that way they would be aware. We can even show them short clips on how to plant, maybe going to schools and even teaching children how to plant and take care of different kind of plants. children are good advertising tools and the parents are more likely to be convinced that Get it sells fresh foods now because of this promotion strategy. We would be killing to birds with one single stone; advertising the company and at the same time disproving the myth about the company selling carcinogenic products." I finished and stopped and before you know it the whole company started to clap once again. They really did have thing for clapping, thane just stood there gawking at me with his mouth wide open. I smiled about, I thanked the holy spirit under my breath, I knew I had hit the nail right on the head with his help. One minute had passed and they were still clapping, I started feeling the spotlight effect and I decided to clap for myself, maybe that would make me feel less in the spotlight and more in the aphotic-behind the scenes .
I handed back the remote to the man who had been standing earlier his hands seemed numb, he wasn't even responding. I held his hands and I placed the remote in his hands by myself.
I went back to my chair and I could still see Thanes gaze on me, his stare was making me anxious. I don't know why his gaze affected me this way. I was always comfortable with the fact that people stared at me. I knew that they were just admiring God's awesome creation. I could not believe that I had been feeling all giddly inside with Thane's look. I tried my best to avoid eye contact with him oh but when I looked up to confirm whether or not the gaze was for me or someone next to me. I was bewildered what I had read in his eyes. I could see a myriad of sadness and ardent longing in his eyes. I looked away immediately.
I could feel him remove his gaze and stand up.
" Miss wanda, what do you say about this please, do you think if we could collaborate with Green Foods, it would work?"
" Yes sir! Lets get started. Sir it was one of the most original and genuine ideas I have ever come across in my life…."
