Chapter 35 - Part-Time

Izuku left the kitchen of one of the part-time agency's restaurants, Akimichi BBQ. The restaurant is run by the Expanding Hero, Calorie King, a.k.a. Choji Akimichi. Emiya had been working in the kitchen with Choji because cooking is Emiya's only hobby besides cleaning.

On his way out of the restaurant, Izuku looked around at this familiar place. The part-time agency was a rather large building. In fact, most hero agencies are much smaller than this unless they have a top 10 hero, but the part-time agency functioned more like a mall. Every shop in this agency/mall was run by a hero. Despite the fact that the agency has only been around for a few years, a large number of young and old heroes have applied to work there.

Heroes who are getting older and can't do as many patrols as they used to, and rookie heroes who have families and need a much more stable environment to grow and support them, all find this agency appealing. Hero work is dangerous and unpredictable, and not everyone can be a sidekick for a top 10 or top 100 hero. Therefore, having an agency that employs heroes to work part-time while also allowing them to set up their own business ventures inside the agency motivated many heroes to apply. This has made the part-time agency one of the largest hero agencies in Japan.

The plan for the agency had been proposed by Shikamaru a few months before the students graduated. At that time, Shikamaru suggested this idea because he didn't want to work full-time as a hero. He also knew that many of his friends had other aspirations and were only in a hero school because of societal expectations. They all had strong quirks; therefore, even if they didn't want to, they felt obligated to become heroes for the sake of society. The group of friends liked the idea so much that Weiss used her family's company to acquire an old, rundown shopping mall to use as their agency.

After some renovations, advertising, and a little bit of help from Nezu, the part-time agency was running smoothly. There was just one thing Shikamaru did not account for: he was put in charge. From paperwork to command of the entire agency during large hero operations, Shikamaru was the man. Luckily for him, Blake had her cloning ability and descended from a long line of heroes. Her father was currently the number 30 hero, Uzumaki, a.k.a. Naruto Belladonna. With all of her inherited experience and knowledge on how to run a hero agency, Shikamaru wasn't completely swamped with work. The two were often seen napping together in Shikamaru's office.

Most of the heroes who worked at the part-time agency really didn't care about hero rankings. They were either too old, and this was their pseudo-retirement, or they were underground or lower-ranked heroes who needed a different occupation to pay the bills. Hero rankings were not on most of these heroes' minds.

When the place first opened, people didn't know it was also a hero agency. Most thought it was just a mall at first, and that included villains. During the first three months of the place being open, the agency was attacked by villains six times, reminding everyone in the area why the mall had closed in the first place. After a large group of villains was arrested and multiple gangs and criminal enterprises were taken down in the area, people learned a very interesting fact: if you screw with a hornet's nest, you're gonna get stung. And when those hornets are heroes, you're probably gonna get arrested, and the rest of your friends won't get away.

The news reported that the part-time agency had taken down and arrested the CEO of a corporation called Capsule Corporation. The CEO was a man who had married the daughter of the previous owner of the corporation. The daughter was a brilliant genius in support gear and hero tech, but sadly, she had very poor people skills and had fallen in love with a cruel and sadistic person. She was tricked and manipulated into marrying a small-time crime boss. At the time, nobody even knew the real name of the boss of these gangs; everyone only knew the leader's villainous alias: Silverback.

After their marriage, Silverback slowly manipulated his wife into giving him more control over the company, and eventually, he became the CEO. Based on information recovered from some of Silverback's higher-ranking gang members, the part-time agency learned that he had his wife killed. He then took full control of the company and began selling many of the more dangerous support items on the black market.

The only reason the part-time agency began to look into the corporation was because of the gangs. They focused on the gangs due to the villains who attacked the part-time agency. The villains targeted the agency because Silverback had been using the mall to hide illegal items and substances. When the part-time agency purchased the mall and turned it into their headquarters, Silverback lost access to these illegal items stored in secret locations. This led him to try to ruin the agency's business, hoping the place would shut down so he could reclaim the items after the agency moved out.

As Izuku thought about the agency's history and some fun facts about the place, he slowly made his way to a different part of the building. 'Flowers and Therapy' was what the sign above the entrance read. It was a flower shop, but it also had a back area where heroes could receive psychological counseling. This place was, of course, run by Ino Yamanaka and her family. Her mother was a florist and her father was a hero psychologist. As mentioned before, Ino was in her last year of college, studying to become a psychiatrist like her father and preparing to start working with him.

The reason Izuku and the system were at the shop was quite interesting. Ino was using them as her final project, and they were answering her questions and sharing their experiences to assist her.

But today was different. Today, Ino was going to interview Bob. She had technically never met Bob because he felt it was his duty to protect everyone in the mindscape. 'The scary man told me that if there's a bully, it's Bob's job to stop him!' Bob took that very seriously.

Izuku walked into Ino's future office and sat down on the couch across from her. After some small talk, Bob was successfully coaxed into having a conversation with Ino.

'So, Bob, Izuku says you protect all the fragments and alters in the mindscape. What is that like?' Ino asked, genuinely interested.

'Well, most of the time, I just walk around and talk to people. But every once in a while, scary monsters appear. I'm not scared of monsters; I have a respon… respon… a job to protect everyone,' Bob answered.

== Authors note.

OK, so a little backstory on the part-time agency. Why it was formed how it was formed what were the consequences of It's creation. I hope you enjoyed.

And if you have any ideas for shops and relatively low powered characters that could be the owners of those shops That would work as heroes in the agency I would really appreciate it. Bye
