Ino looked up. "Monster? Do you mean the Preachers? Those giant spider creatures created by Moriarty?"
Bob shook his head. "The monsters made by Mr. James ain't the monsters I'm talking about."
Ino nodded, more interested in this subject. As far as she was aware, none of the other altars she had talked to had seen any monsters besides the Preachers. "So what do one of these monsters look like? And where do they come from?"
Bob paused for a second and scratched his chin. "Well, some of them look like bugs, some like frogs, some like lizards, and some like dogs." Bob then tried to basically list the entire animal kingdom, but Ino stopped him.
"So they look like animals. Is there anything else interesting about them? And again, where are they from?" Ino said, hoping for more information.
"Well, sometimes they have special powers, but most of the time they just bite and scratch me. And they don't really come from a place; they just show up. Sometimes they scream really scary things, like 'Where's the money!' But I never know what they're talking about."
Ino looked up in surprise. "And if you defeat these monsters, what happens to them?"
Bob gave Ino a nine-yard stare. "Sometimes they become dust. Other times, they become black puddles and melt, screaming about things I don't understand. And sometimes they don't disappear at all; they just kind of lay there."
Ino stared at the clearly traumatized Bob. "Are you scared of the monsters? And if you are, why do you keep fighting them?"
Bob's head rose as he gave Ino a very firm look. "If I don't stop them, who will? The scary man gave me the job to protect everybody. I take my job very seriously."
Ino smiled before remembering something. "You said some of them don't disappear and just lay there. What do you do with them?"
"I take them to the dungeon inside the scary man's house," Bob said in an "this is obvious" tone.
"Do you know why this scary man wants them there?" Ino inquired.
"He said something about monsters from outside not going away like the ones from inside. I never really thought about it. I'll ask him next time I see him." Bob gave Ino a gentle smile.
The two of them went on to discuss other topics. They talked about Bob's friends, what Bob does every day when he's not patrolling, and Bob's songs. But soon, time ran out, and the system had other responsibilities they needed to take care of.
Nezu sat in his office, sipping some new premium tea that he had never seen before. It had recently been given to him as a gift, but Nezu knew the truth: this was clearly a bribe, a bribe from an unknown person that he had accepted. Why? You might be asking, because Nezu liked the chaos and was interested in the being that bribed him.
(Flashback)
This morning, Nezu had been preparing for the entrance exams. There were thousands of applicants, but only about 1,000 would actually get to attend. Shifting through all the paperwork was already a monumental task.
But right before Nezu could get too invested in his work, he heard a gentle knock on the door. Nezu wasn't expecting any guests, but he was intrigued, so he invited them in. "Please come in!" he said in his usual cheerful tone.
The door swung open to reveal a being of similar height to Nezu. It looked like a strange monkey, with bat and dragon features as accents. It was also wearing a little white suit, clearly trying to look as professional as possible.
The monkey walked into the office, then floated up and sat on what appeared to be an invisible chair across from Nezu. Then the monkey spoke. "Principal Nezu, it's a pleasure to meet you. My name is Noisage, and I have come to make a deal with you."
Nezu stared at the strange chimera across from him. It was even more absurd-looking than he was, but it would be rude to say that about another person. So, Nezu nodded and said, "Nice to meet you, Mr. Noisage. Might I ask what this deal entails?"
Noisage nodded in approval. "Straight to business; I like that. Well, I have a person of interest that I would like to enroll in your school. They just have a few quirks that make them hard to interact with for some people."
Nezu would have laughed at the quirks joke, but he was in a clearly serious meeting. So, he nodded and asked, "And what do these strange behaviors entail? Are they destructive? Potentially lethal?"
Noisage chuckled before replying, "They're oblivious and free-spirited. They will definitely need to be watched at all times; otherwise, they might wander off and start a lot of chaotic shenanigans."
Now Nezu was intrigued. Honestly, things had been a little too quiet around UA recently. Ever since this coming year's third years and the Midoriya System started their internships—essentially working part-time at selected agencies—the school had calmed down. Aizawa had expelled the upcoming year's Class 2A, leading to a pretty slow year.
"Well, I'm excited to meet this future hero! Can I meet them?" Nezu said, fishing for information.
The monkey man nodded, gesturing behind him as a kaleidoscope portal opened to his left. The two heard a shriek and a quack as a heavily armored knight tumbled out of the portal, rolling head over heels into the wall behind Nezu.
The two of them stared at the crumpled mass of limbs lying against the wall. Noisage was giving the chaotic pile a dirty look, as if he were appalled that this person couldn't wait five minutes for him to invite them in.
Finally, the pink and white mass got a hold of themselves and stood up. This teenager appeared to be a young girl with pink hair and a little white frill. She wore a white cap with a red interior, along with golden and black armor clearly made for a woman. The teenager sported black long stockings and white and gold boots. She gave an overly cute salute and introduced herself. "Hiya! I'm Astolfo! And I—morm!?!?"
Before the teenager could continue, Noisage duck-taped her mouth shut. "You idiot! I told you to wait silently for me to bring you in here! This is a serious matter; we're discussing your education, stupid!" All he received in reply was a mumble of apologies and an excited rumble.
"I'm sorry about his behavior, Principal Nezu. It's like I told you; he has some personality issues," Noisage apologized.
Nezu waved off the other chimera's concern. "It's fine; we have plenty of overly excited students. I'm sure he'll fit in here... wait, he?"
"Oh yeah. I forgot to mention that he has the strange but harmless quirk of cross-dressing. Not that his quirk is cross-dressing; he just likes to do it."
Nezu stifled a laugh; only a prankster would recognize the humor in that. "This is going to be a very fun year. I'll prepare a female uniform for him if he succeeds in the entrance exam."
The monkey man, recognizing the laughter, gave Nezu a crooked smile. Then he handed Nezu a brand of tea he had never seen before. "This should make up for any unfortunate circumstances that may occur at the school. Brewed correctly, this tea can boost the intelligence and focus of the drinker. If you ever want more, just call me at this number; it will appear."
