The man disappeared almost instantly, and Danso was left scratching his head, wondering what was going on. He heard many more explosions, and Danso ran towards a roof to see the city.
On top of the roof, all he saw was chaos. Pure, unhinged chaos. Bombs were exploding everywhere, fights were breaking out on the streets, and there were multiple Ninjas. Danso turned and glared at Xeno, wondering if he and this incident. Xeno put his hands up.
"I have nothing to do with this," said Xeno.
Danso did not fully trust him yet, but Xeno had that look in his eyes that made Danso think that he genuinely had no involvement in this.
"Well, are you going to make yourself useful at least?" asked Danso.
"Fine, I can't let these idiots destroy the city for me," said Xeno.
"I couldn't care less, but one thing. No killing. Understood?" asked Danso.
"Wouldn't it be better to let them die than leave them in a horrible state, philosopher?" asked Xeno.
"I am not god, I won't judge when someone should die or not," said Danso.
"Spoken like a true saint," said Xeno.
Xeno and Danso rushed through the lanes and the crowds of people running into their homes. Multiple sirens were heard, and the police did not have any control over the situation. Danso saw a little girl walk through the street screaming, 'Mommy! Mommy!' He went to help the girl, but a sudden surprise occurred. The girl grinned at the Red Samurai and opened the palm of her hand, which had another bomb.
"Praise the Hokage," said the girl before she exploded
Danso tried to block the explosion, but he could not; he flung backwards, hitting the multiple drainage pipes that were damaged due to the ongoing chaos. Xeno walked over and healed him before helping him walk.
"What are the DMMS doing in this situation?" whispered Danso.
He looked at Xeno, realising that the DMMS were probably caught up in his trap and held the collar of his shirt.
"If you genuinely care about your goals, tell me where the DMMS are," said Danso angrily.
"You and Natsuki are the only people in the DMMS who are here in Akuza at the moment," said Xeno with a smile.
Danso got enraged by Xeno's calm smile and punched him hard, so hard that one of Xeno's teeth came off. Xeno cleaned his mouth and healed it in an instant, and continued to speak.
"I had nothing to do with it," said Xeno.
"Oh really? Then who would?" asked Danso.
"The Dark Mixed Military Squad does not look over only Akuza, it looks over Lukia as a whole," said Xeno.
"Yeah, I knew that already," replied Danso.
"Look around, you think a country would only attack ONE city?" asked Xeno.
Danso knew what it meant. The country of Ninjaro indirectly declared war, and this was a raid. The other DMMS members are probably in other cities that were affected.
"Tell me exactly where they are," said Danso.
Xeno opened and showed a news lady speaking on the phone.
"Our bordering country, Ninjaro, has raided four cities of Lukia. Akuza, Relvon, Jale, and Rein," said the news lady.
Xeno skipped to a later part of the video.
"The DMMS led by Chiro Zanami is split apart across these cities, and according to reports, Haruki Takahashi, Emily Nobira, and Tensei Nashigama are in Jale, Chiro Zanami is in Relvon, since it is a royal city after all, and Rein has the Military Force currently fighting against these terrorist raids. The Ronin force of Ninjaro looks like they are the ones leading the raid. The only city without a DMMS member is Akuza, the capital city of Lukia, which is a bit surprising…" said the news lady.
Xeno paused the video and looked at Danso.
"Your friends are safe now, let's try to defeat these people, alright?" said Xeno.
Danso nodded and started to rush into fighting the terrorists without caring how badly injured they got. Danso just swung his sword and let the blade determine how badly they got hurt.
A horde of ninjas was rushing towards them. Xeno looked at a few and, with his soul energy, blew up their arms and legs. Danso used Sword Art of the Dragon: Dragon's Breath to attack multiple enemies at once.
After they were done fighting, Danso saved a family that was being attacked by some ninjas. He attacked them without any guilt. Xeno knew something was off about him since The Red Samurai was a person who would always try to complete his work as cleanly without blood as possible. Yet, here his eyes, even though they were covered with a mask, were visibly angry.
"What's wrong? That young girl exploding on your face roughed you up?" asked Xeno with a smirk.
Danso punched Xeno, picked him up, and threw him to the ground in a second. Then he ignited his sword and put the tip, which wasn't ignited, on his neck.
"I could kill you right here, right now," said Danso.
"Yet, you won't," said Xeno.
Danso knew his words were true, no matter how much he wanted to. He could not. Xeno created another arm and threw the sword away, and kicked Danso in the knee, forcing him to fall. Danso got back up.
"Why do you think Chiro left no one in this city?" asked Xeno.
"I couldn't guess even if I wanted to," said Danso.
"It's because he trusted the Red Samurai," said Xeno.
"What nonsense are you saying? He's the one who unleashed a bounty on me," replied Danso.
"Yeah, fine, but what if he left because he knew that the Red Samurai, even if his actions are outside the law, still is a good guy? I mean, you never actually killed someone, impressive," said Xeno.
"What's your point? Stop beating around the bush," said Xeno.
"You are the Red Samurai right now, but you are also Danso Narahara," said Xeno.
"Yeah, I know," said Danso.
"So that means you are allowed to have those connections from when you were Danso Narahara to now," said Xeno.
"Okay! What are you trying to tell me?" said an irritated Danso.
"So don't disappoint him," said Xeno.
Danso looked up straight to meet Xeno's eyes. He thought that Xeno was a psychotic murderer, but in reality, he was not. He was a human being who was probably wronged and turned out like this.
"Fine…But let's have a deal," said Danso.
"You help me here and I will help you find the people who did that horrible deed to your family," said Danso.
Xeno flinched at his words, but accepted his deal in the end.
The chaos was now only amplifying as there were multiple waves of ninja just trashing the city. Danso and Xeno were running up, defeating hundreds and even thousands of ninjas. Danso used his ignition blade and attempted to attack hundreds, while Xeno kept on cloning himself to make the odds more fair.
Multiple ninjas started to take hostages to try and stop the Red Samurai and Xeno. He knew that he could not save everyone, right? Some people had to die. It was their fate.
"See, now you can't kill me," mocked a ninja.
More ninjas followed, using hostages. Xeno tried to blow their heads off, but Danso stopped him. All the ninjas were prepared to face the infamous Red Samurai. In the past three years, he had become quite famous. But there was a small miscalculation in their plans. Danso had almost infinite willpower. He sparked his foot on fire and moved so fast that he managed to take down the entirety of the city block ninjas in a record time of three seconds. Of course, this made him one of the fastest seconds to Chiro Zanami.
Danso did nothing but spit on their faces. He put his sword over his shoulder and started declaring to the ninja while standing on top of the injured ninja he had defeated.
"Look, if you thought that low-life tactics would work on me, then I am disappointed," said the Red Samurai.
As Danso climbed down and the chaos started to subside, he saw someone who he had thought had left him alone with his own two eyes.
