Chapter 25 - Not Playing

Shortly after the revelation that the man he met in his dreams was a murderer, Danso left Chiro at noon and went to sleep until seven, when the sun would fall below the horizon and the moon would rise to its glory. While resting, he tried to figure out what all the puzzle pieces meant. He had multiple questions that he needed answers to. Why was Xeno searching for him? What did Xeno do to the Terror Trinity? And why is Xu coming in his dreams? He knew there was only one way to find the answers, to find and interrogate Xeno and get his revenge for the incident in Burning House and the explosion at the headquarters.

Surprisingly, his colleagues had not returned yet, and he did get worried for them, so he also decided to search for them along with the Terror Trinity and Xeno to see what was happening to the city right now.

Chiro told the DMMS that since the headquarters was demolished, they had to live at one person's house. To make it as comfortable as possible, he made each of the members pair up and choose who they wanted to be with. Chiro and Tensei were together, Emily and Natsuki were together, and Danso was alone, so he just went to his old house to crash.

Then, when he reached there, he realised that the landlord in charge of his house had someone else rent the house after a month of Danso leaving! So he went to the Battle Restaurant for a solution.

He asked Sasha and Kevin if they knew any place he could stay for a week, and they all wanted him to stay over at Kevin's place. The house was nice, and it was near the restaurant, so no major issues were shifting in.

Back to the present, Danso stared at the beautiful city of Akuza from the top of his favorite skyscraper. The city was filled with neon lights and huge tablets on other buildings, with the city square tightly packed as usual, the downtown city with people coming home after a long day at work, and uptown, where there were few people to be seen. Then there were the slums at the southern end of the city. Danso always pitied that place, and he tried to help them as much as he could. He defeated the Growler there for the first time.

He squinted to make his contact lens zoom in on the places that he could not see since they were so far away. The skyscraper was a perfect vantage point for Danso to view the city. He started to notice some movements occurring in the port, so he rushed there.

"There must be another meeting there," thought Danso.

At the port, there was barely any sign of any human as it was filled with nothing but containers. Danso used his contacts to check for any sound waves and used the contacts to see through the container walls, but they were all filled with some goods, and there were none with illegal items or none that were empty.

Danso roamed around the port searching for anything that he could use to his advantage. There was nothing.

"Another dead end…" whispered Danso to himself.

As Danso was getting ready to leave, he saw the familiar container in which the Terror Trinity and Xeno had their meeting. Danso used his contacts to check, and the container was fully empty with nothing inside. Danso heated his blade and cut through the metal with ease.

Danso searched around and tried to locate anything inside. He found a red button on a wall that was covered by a painting.

"Bingo," thought Danso as he clicked it without a second thought.

A trapdoor under the carpet started to creak open. Danso heard it in an instant and went towards it. He bent over and opened the door, trying not to make any sound. There was a ladder that went underground. He descended it and saw that there was a room. As he stood properly, he saw something that disturbed him.

The Terror Trinity was right in front of him. Were they dead? Danso was not sure, they looked like they were in a state of sleep or cryostasis. If Xeno could afford this, he must come from a financially well-off background, or he must have stolen a lot. Danso felt happy that the Terror Trinity had been disarmed and locked up, but there was a thought in the back of his mind.

"This is too good to be true," thought Danso.

Suddenly, another thought came in an instant, and Danso sprinted to leave the container.

"If Baltrax is stuck here…Who let the monster out? It's a trap," thought Danso.

As Danso rushed outside, a hand grabbed him and threw him to the ground. He couldn't make it out of the container, instead, he was near the place where he made a hole, and Danso reflexively pushed the hand away and got up in a second. He turned around to see who decided to fight him, and he saw his face.

"Xeno…" said Danso.

"I don't believe we met, have we? The Red Samurai?" asked Xeno.

"I spied on your board meeting here," said Danso.

"Oh, I see…I've heard about you," said Xeno.

"What have you been doing? Who are you really?" asked Danso.

Xeno started to laugh like a madman.

"Okay, I am going to stop acting like I don't know who you are, 'Red Samurai'," said Xeno.

Danso gritted his teeth inside his helmet.

"Take a seat, I am sure you have questions," said Xeno.

"How can I rest when people are dying outside due to a monster you unleashed?" asked Danso.

"If you hadn't figured out it was a trap for the DMMS to fall into, you are some great vigilante," mocked Xeno.

"I knew it was a trap," said Danso.

"Good, good, we are on the same page now…I have a game you want to play?" asked Xeno.

Danso slammed Xeno's chair, making him fall, and unsheathed his sword. Xeno tried making Danso's arm explode, but he could not. This shocked Xeno.

"I can see you're angry. Let's play the three sacred questions," said Xeno.

The Three Sacred Questions is a game in which you ask three questions to one person, and the other person asks three questions to you, and they have to respond truthfully in the name of the Sword God. If they lie, since they swore on the Sword God, they would face instant death.

Danso picked Xeno's chair up and decided to calm down.

"Fine, I ask first," said Danso.

"Alright. What's your question?" questioned Xeno.

"What's your problem with me being Red Samurai and Danso Narahara?" asked Danso.

"You see, you could say I am lending you a hand. Have you ever wondered what would happen if the DMMS figures out you are the Red Samurai? Your safety is important for my plans, that's it," replied Xeno.

Danso's brain gears started to spin.

"Why did he want to protect me? What plans does he have related to me?" thought Danso.

He knew exactly what questions he had to ask next.

"Your turn," said Danso.

"Is your second seal unlocked?" asked Xeno.

"Yes, how do you know about that?" asked Danso.

"Is that your second question?" asked Xeno.

Danso grunted at Xeno's nonchalant response.

"No," said Danso.

"Then I am under no pressure to respond," said Xeno.

Danso skipped to his next question.

"Who is Xu, and what's his connection with me?" asked Danso.

"It should be expected you were going to ask me this," laughed Xeno.

"Shut up and answer the question," said Danso.

"There are two questions that one should answer?" asked Xeno.

Danso had not thought of that, but the second question was more important and more required, so he asked that.

"The second one," said Danso bluntly.

"When Xu died, he split himself up into four parts. You could say he left three parts in you, so you are 75% of him," said Xeno.

Danso's jaw dropped. Xeno dropped a bombshell of information straight on his face without any warning. If Danso was 75%, does that mean he was not the original? What's his life purpose then?

"I see you are startled and worried. Don't worry, you are very different from him. You are your original, but you just contain 75% of Xu from birth, and you share the same name; other than that, there are no more similarities," said Xeno.

This made a wave of relief flow over Danso. He was the original, too; it was just that some parts of this stranger were in him. He decided to ask more questions when he met him again on top of that mountain.

"What's your next question?" asked Danso.

"Did you regain any of your memories?" asked Xeno.

"No, except my soul energy growing, I got nothing," said Danso.

"Alright…That complicates things, doesn't it? What's your next question?" asked Xeno.

"What in the world are you planning to do to this city?" asked Danso.

"Ha, I am going to fix this filthy city. It's gotten a bit better, but it's still filth. The only way you can destroy evil is with evil, so you can say I'll tear this city apart and make a new city from its wreckage," said Xeno.

"Why? This city…It can be fixed…You saw the crime rates, right? They decreased by a huge amount," exclaimed Danso.

"That's what the media are saying. You step out there, look at the world with your own two eyes, tell me, Danso, what changes happened?" said Xeno.

He was right. Danso knew he was right. Even though the media claimed the city was getting better, in reality, it wasn't. It was just a hope, Danso had that kept on pushing him to save more and try to fix more.

"What's your last question?" asked Danso.

"Do you know anything about the massacre of the Northguard City?"

Danso's heart stopped. He understood why Xeno needed him, Danso Narahara. Xeno wanted the information or memories that Xu planted in those seals. 75% of Xu was in him, so there must be some memories in those 75%. The idea that Danso had was that something happened in the Northguard City massacre that caused Xeno to go mad. Danso looked around, trying to piece together the puzzle. Xeno stared at him with empty eyes.

Then, there it was. A family picture. A man who looks like Xeno, A platinum blond woman with dusky blue eyes, and two kids who were little boys, a little younger than Haruki. The photo caption read: Anon, Xeno, Yvette, and James. Danso decided to reply.

"No, I've heard about it from Chiro, but I don't have anything about it," replied Danso.

"Alright," said Xeno.

Danso got up and stood. He went close to the picture. He stared at it true his mask, and Xeno stood behind him. He could feel that Xeno was glaring at him.

"This was your family? Were you the father/husband?" asked Danso.

"Yes, Xeno was my child's name. I think you can piece together what's going on now," said Xeno.

Danso knew exactly what was going on. Was Xeno a psychotic animal, or was he a man who had been burdened with too much? Danso did not even have time to think. Instantly, an explosion was heard outside the container. Danso rushed outside to see what it was. There, he saw a man on top of the crane on the port with a ninja mask, and those eyes were eyes that Danso recognized instantly.
