Chapter 24 - Daylight Mess

Chiro stood in front of Xeno on the sidewalk leading to the headquarters' exit. He was emitting a massive amount of soul energy that had Xeno frozen.

"I hope you didn't think it was that easy to kill a calamity," said Chiro.

"Of course not, after all I've heard a lot about you…It would've been a pity if you died in such a shameful manner," said Xeno.

"I agree, but the way you're going to die now will be even more shameful," said Chiro with bloodthirsty eyes.

"I'd prefer if you'd tone the death eyes," said Xeno.

Chiro didn't care. He didn't stop radiating the soul energy, and the look in his eyes was the same. He had only one goal in his mind, and that was to kill whoever this guy was. Chiro rushed towards Xeno, and he couldn't react. Xeno was slowed down massively due to the soul energy that Chiro was radiating, and Chiro was just absurdly fast; it seemed as if he was teleporting. He grabbed Xeno by the neck and threw him onto the floor. He dragged him across the road, which made Xeno's face more and more scarred. Xeno screamed in pain. Chiro then slammed the ground where Xeno's head was, but Xeno managed to dodge the attack by a millimetre, but the ripple effect still hurt Xeno.

"Do you know what happens to people who get to see a calamity's full soul energy not repressed and exposed?" said Chiro.

Xeno's face started to sweat. He did not have enough soul energy to create a new avatar, since all his soul energy is being used to just deflect or block Chiro's soul energy, which means he will die here if he doesn't think fast. Of course, there was always a plan B for Xeno. Xeno's brain would explode if he got exposed to Chiro's full soul energy since he was perceiving too much. He always had a talent for bluffing.

"Hey, hey, wait now, if you kill me here, then your friends will die," said Xeno.

"How do I know that it's not a bluff?" said Chiro, taking a step closer.

"Because did you see anyone you know after you got out of that lame ambulance?" asked Xeno with a smirk on his face.

Chiro punched Xeno as hard as he could just to wipe that filthy smirk off Xeno's face. Now it was guaranteed, Chiro would not kill Xeno since it had his colleagues at stake, and he knew exactly what type of person Chiro was.

"If you want, I'll sweeten the deal, I will let Danso go with you," said Xeno, panicking, running out of options.

Chiro held out his arm. That action indirectly told Xeno to give Danso to him, and if he doesn't, there would be serious consequences. Xeno agreed and gave Danso to Chiro and started to crawl away after Chiro decreased the soul energy pressure to livable standards. He started cackling and sprinting away from Chiro. Now that he was away from him, he made a 99% avatar somewhere else in Akuza, so that even if he dies now, it wouldn't be much of a mess.

Chiro raced back towards Xeno and increased his soul pressure yet again, and started speaking.

"I just wanted to see you run away like a dog," said Chiro.

Chiro increased the soul energy pressure to the maximum, and the already broken building started to break and crack. Xeno's brain could not handle it anymore, and it got destroyed.

His consciousness woke back up in a container in the port, it was the same container that he had the meeting with the terror trinity in.

"I read him like a book and guessed his actions, and I was lucky and correct," sighed Xeno.

Then, he opened a wooden trapdoor underneath the container with a click of a button that was on the container's left wall.

Inside the basement or bunker, there were three containers. Xeno opened one container, and as it opened, Baltrax's face with red eyes limped outside the container as smoke escaped from it. Next to the container, there was a picture of a platinum blonde woman, with blue eyes, two small children who were boys, and a baby girl that Xeno was holding. The caption of the frame read 'Anon, Yvette, Xeno, James, Charlotte'

Chiro looked at the passed-out body of Danso and knew something was off. He could not put it in words, but he knew that Danso got more soul energy somehow. Chiro reminded himself of the time he told Emily he felt there were seals in Danso, but there was one seal less than the last time. Chiro picked Danso up and went to the Central City Hospital to check him in. The journey was eventless, with Chiro just flying using his Taurus Wings and flying there. As Chiro opened the door to the hospital, he saw Natsuki, Emily, and Tensei sitting there. Natsuki was the first to run towards Chiro and hug him tightly, and Emily punched him in the gut and forced him to apologize for making them worry. Tensei also hugged Chiro.

"Where were you? What happened? How did you live?" asked Emily.

"It was one of my constellation sorcery abilities. It's called Pisces Regeneration. I managed to counter and find that madman's weakness by using Gemini Adaptability," said Chiro.

"I never knew Pisces Regeneration could make you come back from the dead," responded Natsuki.

"I did not die, I was on the verge of dying," laughed Chiro.

Emily punched him once more.

"That is not funny!" complained Emily.

"Also out among us, it was Tensei who was the saddest," said Natsuki, teasing Tensei.

"Shut it," said Tensei.

Chiro patted Tensei on the head and gave him a comforting hug and smile that screamed thanks.

"It's okay, I still have a good fifty years in me," boasted Chiro.

While everyone was caught up in celebrating Chiro's 'revival', Natsuki noticed that Danso's body that he was holding and rushed him to the Soul Medical Room.

"What happened to him?" asked Emily.

"Xeno was running away with Danso. I came and stopped him. Danso also fainted, and…" stopped Chiro mid-sentence.

"And?" questioned Emily.

"You were right, Emily," said Chiro.

"What was she right about?" asked Tensei.

"There were seals in him, and he just awakened one. If you had seen him with more focus, you would instantly notice the increase in soul energy he had," said Chiro.

"First, he has this Soul Slime King ability, now he has this seal awakening, and it gives him a power ability, how much more will he have?" ranted Tensei.

"It just shows that you have to be stronger now, doesn't it?" said Chiro.

"I am already stronger than that idiot," said Tensei.

"I remember him beating you even at your Two-Horned Transformation," teased Chiro.

"That was probably a fluke," said Tensei.

"Alright, but you have to learn how to control it. I'll help you, alright?" said Chiro.

"Okay," said Tensei.

Emily suddenly asked a question after Chiro's conversation with Tensei finished.

"What happened to 'Xeno'?" asked Emily.

"His name is Xeno?" questioned back Chiro questioned.

"Yeah," said Emily.

"Well, I left him alive in return for Danso," replied Chiro.

"Understood," said Emily.

Danso woke up a few hours later and was discharged. According to Natsuki, his body needed time to adjust to the level of Soul Energy he had since it was a sudden increase. Danso went to confront Chiro in the evening when everyone else, including Haruki, who was discharged with Danso, went on another mission dealing with a rogue experiment running wild on the streets. Danso, when he heard the mission they were on, instantly knew it had to be something related to Baltrax, and it was a key piece of information since the Terror Trinity had disappeared for three days, and that had never happened before.

"Chiro, I need to talk," said Danso.

"Sure, what is it?" asked Chiro.

"I had an awakening," said Danso.

"I know," said Chiro.

"How? Was it that obvious?" asked Danso.

"The soul energy in you increased by a lot, so I noticed," said Chiro.

"Yeah, while I was awakened, I met someone who looked exactly like me. He said his name was Xu? And that he was me?" said Danso.

"Xu?!" exclaimed Chiro.

"Is he that famous?" asked Danso.

"He is the person behind the Northguard City massacre," said Chiro.
