Leo led the girls and stood aside, watching the baron's guards set up 20 targets. 10 for the guards, 10 for their side, he noted that their targets were exactly 10 metres apart while there's were 12. In the closer targets, the extra 2 ,metres didn't make much of a difference, but by the time you got to the 10th, it's 20 metres farther
Seeing this, Leo glanced towards the Baron and found that he watched everything that was happening expressionlessly
' first round and they're already cheating ' thought Leo as he frowned internally.
After he heard the competitions stated by the Baron, he was intending to give him face and not beat him to badly, to not strain their relationship even further but now?
That idea went through the window, he intended to let the girls abuse these guards. If the Baron intended to cheat them further even after that...then he was going to take drastic measures
Thinking to this point, he watched them calmly. A few minutes later, a tall lanky guard stood infront of their targets. And drew an arrow, shooting towards the first target and missed the bullseye
The arrow landed right outside of the bullseye, which is 4 points. Leo glanced around and found that the Baron and the guards, looked at this shot and nodded their heads in satisfaction
' no wonder your father considers you a waste ' thought Leo, judging by the guards accuracy, his Archery skill was about to turn level 1 but Rebecca, who he intended to let shoot, surpassed that, before he even met her
Not to mention now. He had learned from Hilda that skills have different levels, which was obvious from the fact that he could upgrade skills
The ones she knew were, Basic, Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced. He knew that above Advanced were rare skills. All skills above Elementary have stringent requirements before they can be learned
The skills he upgrades? While they have requirements, they're much easier to solve. Something else he learned was, a high level skill doesn't mean its right for you
For example, Apprentice Knights can bring out 100% of the effects of a basic skill, give them an Elementary skill, if they can bring out 20% of an Elementary skill. That means they're a genius.
If they used one of this skills, they may be able to bring out 50-60% because of the slacker requirements
So while the better the skill, the better the effects, it doesn't matter of you can't use it. So outside of the army Swordsmanship he thought them, which just requires food, all their other skills are Elementary level
About 3 months ago, Rebecca reached level 5 in her basic Archery skill, which is the max level. Before she switched to an Elementary level one, the requirements were 50% accuracy with 50 metres and strength requirements. Which Rebecca had
At level 1, you have 100% accuracy within 20 metres. So double the range of basic archery, from the jump, not to mention that the max level for Elementary skills is level 10
Snapping out of this thoughts, Leo focused his attention back on the competition and found that the guard had hit 4 targets before he missed. Managing to get 9 points
Stepping back, with a proud smile, he turned towards Leo and threw the bow at his feet, only for Leo to reach out and catch it before turning to give it to Rebecca, whispering in her ear as she passed
Rebecca walked towards her target and notched an arrow, she didn't even hesitate as she drew the bow and fired, the arrow instantly piercing the bullseye and embedded itself into the ground behind it
Seeing this, the Baron and his guards froze. Looking at this scene in confusion. Ignoring the reactions behind her, Rebecca fired several arrows in quick succession
Her Archery skill had reached level 3, so she had 100% accuracy within 60 metres, if the targets were properly spaced, he could get the bullseyes for 6, but now only 5.
" with her current skill, she only has 30% chance of hitting the last target, but that's not necessary " muttered Leo. He had found that every 10 metres outside of your 100% accuracy is a 10% drop in accuracy. Ie, for Rebecca, she has a 90% chance of hitting the 6th target
80% for the 7th etc
He told her to hit the 5th target and stop. Which is what she did. After hitting the bullseye on the 5th target. Rebecca rest the bow and arrows on the ground an walked back behind Leo, her expression calm
Leo glanced at the Baron and found that his expression was ugly as he looked at Rebecca standing behind him. Seeing this, Leo stood in front of Rebecca and spoke
" it looks like we've won the first round my lord " said Leo calmly, hearing his words, the Baron glanced at him coldly before he let out a snort
" let the next competition begin " said the Baron

In the middle of the field, everyone surrounded the sparring arena in the center. Leo and the others stood on the left, the Baron and his guards on the right. Hilda stood in the center acting as referee
"Silly me, I forgot to mention that weapons are allowed in this fight " said the Baron as he patted his forehead and made an apologetic expression. Hearing his words, the guards burst into laughter as they looked at the armor on Leo and the others, metal armour vs leather armour, they failed to see how they'd lose
" Jason you're up " said the Baron as he looked directly at Leo who instantly focused on the man who walked out from the guards and stepped unto the arena, looking at Leo with disgust as he unsheathed his sword
Seeing this Leo's expression hardly changed as he took a closer look at the guards, his eyes, locking unto one figure hidden in the crowd
' so that's how it is ' thought Leo
" Tori " said Leo, finding that he didn't have much anger like he once thought. It's been several months since he last saw this man, he had always wondered why he had never seen him though they supposedly live in the same village
Now he knew the answer
Hearing Leo's words, Tori walked out from behind Leo, her face still indifferent as she looked at Jason standing in front of her
" are you ready " asked Hilda, her voice muffled as she looked at the 2 who nodded their heads
" fight " shouted Hilda as she stepped back. The moment her words fell, Jason shot towards Tori, slashing at her head the instant he got within range, his expression rapidly becoming cruel as he imagined the next scene
Only to freeze as Tori's sheath hit his throat, before she pulled it back, spinning it before she hit him on the side of his head, knocking him to the ground before she looked at Hilda who announced the end of the fight
Hearing her words, Tori left the field and returned to her position amidst the exclamation of the guards who picked Jason off the floor
Seeing this, the baron's expression grew darker as he looked at Leo his expression changing before he called out a name
" Peter "
Leo watched calmly as the older man who had saved him, walked unto the field, his expression bright as he greeted Leo with the tone of an elder
" you're in good health my boy, long time no see "
" Christina " Leo ignored his words and called up his next fighter, seeing this Peter's expression changed, turning serious as he moved his gaze from Leo to Christina
" are you ready " Asked Hilda as she looked at the 2
" fight "
Unlike Tori, Christina shot towards Peter instantly crossing the 10 foot distance between them, kicking towards his face. Peter calmly raised his sword and blocked her kick only to be knocked away, taking several steps back , his expression changing as he looked at Christina
Seeing this, Leo was surprised, with her training, her lowest attribute was 9 and Peter only took a few steps back. Which means he's at least a level 8 Apprentice Knight
Leo frowned as the two continued to fight. Peter went from being suppressed in the beginning to fighting evenly with Christina who hadn't drawn her sword, something he completely didn't expect
He glanced at Hilda and found that she was also surprised, seeing this, he glanced towards the Baron who had a mocking smile on his face
Turning his attention back to the fight. Leo readied himself just in case, as something felt off about this Peter
" you might as well give up and end this old man, you're winded and i haven't even started to use my sword " said Christina as she looked at the panting Peter across from her, slowly drawing her sword
Hearing her words, Peter nodded as he tried to catch his breath
" you're right little girl, it's time for this to end " the moment his words dropped, Peter instantly disappeared, showcasing a level of speed he never used before this and appeared behind Christina
A bronze Red aura appearing around his fist as he punched towards Christina's unprotected back
A dull thud echoed throughout the field as a cloud a dust appeared obstructing everyone's view
A few seconds later, the dust cloud cleared and the scene reappeared before everyone
Leo had pushed Christina out of the way and caught Peter's punch, Peter struggled as he tried to pull his fist out only to freeze as he felt the cold blade on his neck. He glanced to the side and found that Hilda had appeared beside him, her sword on his throat
Leo watched him coldly before he spoke
" we forfeit this match " said Leo as he let go of Peter's fist, letting Christina leave and walked towards the other side of the arena before he glanced at the Baron who was looking at him with a serious expression
" since a bronze Knight was allowed to play, it should be no issue if I play as well, right my lord? " asked Leo as he looked at the Baron coldly. He asked a question
, but his tone said otherwise
The Baron glanced at Peter before nodding his head, indicating they could fight
" are you ready "
" fight " the moment her words fell, a thud echoed throughout the field as dirt flew into the air followed by a cracking sound
Everyone looked at the field in shock, not expecting the current result. The moment Hilda said fight, Leo appeared before Peter grabbing him by the neck, before slamming him into the ground, causing the surrounding 3 metres to sink and shatter
Leo stood up and looked down at the the bloodied figure beneath him calmly before he turned his attention to the baron
" that's our second victory, which means we also won this round my lord "
