Chapter 42 - CHAPTER FORTY-ONE

They were the only ones in the room, so Zenne sat down and just looked out the window. He looked at Jake, who was quietly deep in thought. He also needed to leave, lest his companion notice that he had been gone for too long.

William is there, but he still needs to show up there. He knew that Thalia was already in the snakes' territory.

"I need to leave now, Jake. Just calm down." He simply spoke to Jake, who was standing in front of him.

He just looked at him without saying a word.

"Zenne, am I really doing the right thing? I don't want those children to get hurt. Why do they have to be involved in the adults' problems?" Jake could only ask Zenne.

"Jake, whatever we do to protect their lives, remember that today's youth are bolder than we were." Zenne explained it to Jake.

"Bolder? That bolder act that you're saying is bringing them to disaster and miseries—the minds of the youth today are even more chaotic." He saw Jake shaking his head.

Zenne let out a sigh. He would rather not argue with his perspective, because it would remain unchanged due to his profession as a teacher.

"There you go again with your teacher attitude, Jake. Set aside that attitude toward the problem we are facing. The youth back then were different from today, Jake. Give them a little trust. That's why we're here to guide their decisions."

A mere shake of the head was the only response he received. He didn't reply anymore.

"I need to leave now. I'll keep you posted anytime, Jake." Zenne said to Jake.

Jake didn't answer; he just nodded in agreement. He then walked towards the door and immediately left.

The world is slowly closing in, and his life is gradually becoming endangered. He needs to be extra careful with his movements when he goes here and to the warehouse where he is a member of the organization.

To avoid anyone who might be watching him, he drove and took a route that only he knew. He looked at the side mirror of the vehicle while he was driving; there was no suspicion that anyone was following him.

He first went home to his basement, hid his personal phone, and used the organization's cell phone so he wouldn't be traced by the people he was talking to.

He also carries a different phone or introduces it as his personal phone when he's at the organization.

I needed to be extra careful. He thought to himself back then.

He already knew what would happen. He believed in Felix's abilities, so even though he was surprised by his decision to let Thalia return, it was because Felix trusted his sister.

He wore his hood to show that he was a member of the organization. He also used a different vehicle to return to the warehouse; he took out the usual one he used when going there.

He had only one goal for wanting to bring down the organization: he wanted to avenge his best friend, who sacrificed his life. He could see clearly in his eyes how he was killed and showered with bullets, and he was standing there wanting to, but Fernan was signaling him not to do it.

He deeply believes that he still bears responsibility. The second failure was when he couldn't protect the Fernan siblings.

His body gradually heated up due to the anger he felt. That's why he hit it then. He thought he would forget and accept it, but his mind was screaming that he needed to take the law into his hands.

Suddenly, his phone rang from the organization. So, he immediately put on his earphones while driving to the warehouse.

"Where are you?" William immediately asked him.

He just sighed. "I'm on my way there." He said. "I have some business; that's why it took me a while." He said.

"How's your business?" William asked him this.

To avoid suspicion from the organization, only William and the other members are aware of the codes they utilize.

"I am completing the business I previously left unfinished; the boss may inquire about it." He said.

"Then do it. Just hurry, because Charles has something for you to do."

"Okay."

He immediately accelerated his vehicle. When he arrived, he parked his vehicle first. He got out and walked towards the warehouse. Someone greeted him.

"Charles is calling for you." He said in a whisper.

He immediately nodded and quickly went to where the person who called him was. He was occupied with a task at that moment.

"Why did you call me?" Zenne, he asked his companion.

"You're here." Charles said this and stopped what he was doing and looked at him.

"The boss has some orders for you." He said this and continued immediately.

"And what is it?" he asked.

He handed over some papers, and when he opened them, they were about women who were victims of greed. He looked at Charles, but he didn't answer him.

He immediately noticed what he wanted to convey. That's why he read the message that only he could understand.

"I understand, and I will do it now." He returned it to him.

He didn't answer.

I will prepare Chesca's hiding place first. Zenne thought to himself back then. This was his destiny.

As a member of the organization, he did the things he couldn't do, such as burying victims who were no longer recognizable due to the wounds inflicted by sharp objects that had penetrated them.

Forgive me; when the chaos is over, I will return to you and give you a proper burial. He asked for forgiveness from the bodies that were on the brink of disintegration.

You will also attain justice; just wait.

After burying them, he entered a room where the lifeless victims' bodies were undergoing dissection. He was about to vomit, his stomach turning at the stench that greeted his nose, a foul smell that he sometimes couldn't comprehend.

He sometimes acts as the cleaner for the tasks done here, because he also gathers a lot of information when things get tight.
