Chapter 27 - Chapter 27: Chaotic Technology Development Bureau

"Nanaye!!!"

Ichigo Kurosaki turned in surprise.

"Nana... Nanaye!?"

Uryu Ishida stared at Nanaye in disbelief.

They were in the middle of a fierce battle, surrounded by monstrous Menos Grande.

"He's still human… but that spiritual pressure… it's so strong and dark. And he's not even a Shinigami! How did he use such terrifying black flames!?" Uryu muttered, confused and tense.

Shua!

In a flash, Nanaye appeared next to them. Without saying much, he raised his right hand and looked calmly at the towering hollows ahead.

"Hadō Number 32: Ōkasen (Yellow Fire Flash)!"

Boom!

A wave of yellow flame shot out, blasting past Ichigo and Uryu.

In just a second, the wave swallowed the dozens of Menos Grande that had been overwhelming them, turning them all to ash.

Uryu's eyes widened.

So fast… I didn't even see him move!

When did he get next to me!?

That attack… was it Shinigami Kidō!?

His mind raced with questions. Sweat poured down his face, and his body froze in shock.

Ichigo, less bothered, pointed angrily at Uryu.

"Nanaye, this guy challenged me to a fight. He used bait to attract Hollows — but it ended up calling in way too many of them!"

Uryu snapped back to his senses, clenching his fists and grinding his teeth.

"No! That wasn't supposed to happen. My bait shouldn't attract this many Menos Grande. Something else must've gone wrong!"

Nanaye didn't bother arguing. He placed a hand on both their shoulders and said firmly:

"Enough. There are too many Hollows. I need your help — don't slow me down."

"Huh!?"

"Wait, what!?"

Before either could react, Nanaye vanished again using Shunpo, dragging the two with him across Karakura Town like a blazing comet.

"AHHHHHH!!!"

"Too fast! TOO FAST!!!"

Their screams echoed through the air.

Within seconds, they landed in an open area. The two collapsed, pale and shaking, holding their chests as they gasped for breath.

"Na… Nanaye! When did you get this fast!?" Ichigo wheezed, still stunned.

"That was definitely Shinigami-level Shunpo!" Uryu said between breaths. "But you're still human! How can you use both Kidō and Shunpo!?"

Nanaye ignored their questions, scanned the area, and nodded.

"Where's Rukia?"

"She said she was heading to see Urahara," Ichigo replied.

"Got it," Nanaye nodded. Then he looked at them both.

"I'll handle the ones in the sky. But a lot of Hollows have already reached the city. They're doing serious damage down there."

"We need to pull them out fast. The best way is to attract them all to one place."

"That's why I have an idea — the three of us will release our Reiatsu at once. The combined spiritual pressure should lure all the Menos in Karakura Town here."

Ichigo and Uryu exchanged glances.

"Our Reiatsu?" Ichigo said, scratching his head. "I mean… I know how to release it, but is ours really strong enough?"

He was doubtful. Even combining their powers, it still didn't seem like they matched Nanaye's level.

"Don't worry," Nanaye said confidently. "Just stand together. I'll take care of the rest."

Even though they were still unsure, both of them had just seen Nanaye's power firsthand. Uryu, usually stubborn, quietly followed his instructions.

Nanaye looked into their eyes and said:

"Genjutsu: Mangekyō Sharingan!"

Suddenly, both Ichigo and Uryu's eyes glazed over for a brief moment. Then, as if on instinct, they released all the spiritual power they had been holding back.

Boom!

BOOM!

Twin blasts of blue spiritual energy erupted around them.

As the pressure shook the ground, Nanaye turned his attention to Ichigo.

Incredible...

Even though they were both still just high schoolers, Ichigo's Reiatsu soared upward like a tower of light piercing the sky.

Compared to it, Uryu's energy looked like a pebble next to a mountain.

As Nanaye watched, he finally released his own spiritual pressure. His dark red Reiatsu flared up, even deeper than before — maybe from using so much power against the Menos.

"Buzz buzz buzz..."

Inside a large lab, a loud, piercing alarm echoed through the room.

"Something's wrong! We're detecting massive Reiatsu in the real world!"

"There are two spiritual pressures as strong as vice-captains, but we don't have any records of them!"

"How is this possible? And why are there so many Menos Grande gathered around them!? Hundreds… no, thousands… maybe even tens of thousands!"

Seireitei — Department of Research and Development

Shinigami dressed in white lab coats stared at the glowing screen in front of them, their faces full of shock and fear.

The screen showed countless lights clustered together — more than they'd ever seen before.

"Check the system! There must be a glitch!"

The image was so unbelievable that many staff members thought the machine had broken down.

But after thoroughly inspecting it, they realized the readings were real.

Someone finally shouted in panic:

"Notify Captain Kurotsuchi Mayuri! No — forget that, alert the First Division! Tell the Captain-Commander!"

Normally, any problem in the lab would go to Kurotsuchi Mayuri first, as protocol required.

But this was no normal situation.

"Is Hueco Mundo invading the human world!?" someone yelled.

The longer they looked, the more terrified they became. Sweat poured from everyone as panic filled the room.

At this point, it wasn't enough to just notify Mayuri. They needed to contact the combat squads immediately and send help to the real world through the Senkaimon.

The alert quickly reached the First Division.

Just seconds later, the entire Seireitei echoed with the blaring sound of an emergency call.

Every Shinigami froze in place as the signal rang out.

"No way... Is that what I think it is?"

In the Eighth Division, Kyoraku Shunsui sat up from his lounge chair, removing his straw hat with a look of surprise.

Beside him, Ise Nanao stood still, her expression tense.

"That sound… It hasn't been heard in a hundred years," she said quietly.

"Yeah," Shunsui nodded. "The last time I remember hearing this was when the incident with Hirako Shinji and the others happened."

Elsewhere, in the Second Division, Sui-Feng halted her training.

Wearing her usual black combat gear, her face turned serious as she reached for her captain's haori.

She gave a sharp order as she left the room:

"Omaeda, tell everyone to gather. Now."

Meanwhile, in the Eleventh Division, Zaraki Kenpachi grinned wildly when he heard the alert.

"Haha! That sound means a real fight is coming, right?"

He grabbed his massive sword, slung it over his shoulder, and walked out with a crazed excitement in his eyes.

"I hope this one's more fun than the last!"

Scenes like these played out all across Seireitei.

As the emergency call echoed, every squad began assembling. Captains from all divisions rushed to the First Division Headquarters.

Within moments, they all arrived, standing together, each one looking around with concern and confusion.

The last time something like this happened was the infamous Hollowfication incident involving several captains.

But now, even with their spiritual senses active, they couldn't detect any danger in Seireitei. Everything felt calm and normal.

The confusion grew.

Then, at last, the doors opened — and Yamamoto Genryusai Shigekuni, the ancient but still powerful Captain-Commander, stepped out.

His long beard swayed slightly as he walked to the front.

He glanced around at the gathered captains and spoke in a deep, commanding voice:

"Hueco Mundo has invaded Karakura Town."
