KLAUS' POV
For the longest moment, I stared into the abyss, trying to comprehend what had just happened. The worst fear I had was unfolding right before my eyes. I was engulfed in so much rage that I could feel my legs trembling underneath me, threatening to give out if I didn't lean on something for support.
I let out a loud cough, and more blood erupted from my throat. I cursed at the sight, wiping the blood from my lips. Penelope had caused more harm to me than I had envisioned. My whole body didn't feel like it belonged to me, and my neck still felt sore. It felt like I still had a wrist wrapped around my neck.
I escaped her outburst by chance, and for the first time in my life, I felt real fear for my life. All my life, others had been at my mercy, but now I felt how my prey, who had begged me for mercy to spare their lives, had felt just before I took their lives. I felt real fear, and it was terrifying.
