Chapter 20 - The New Clubs

The academy recruiting hall was filled to the brim with new first years trying their best to get into high ranking clubs.

There were many booths set up inside—the hall was still newly so there were some parts undergoing constructions. But they were hidden from the student body.

At one of the booths where a sign was hung up—introducing the person behind it as belonging to the Summoner Club.

It was a rather timid and shy girl with short brown hair and eyes—wearing an over-sized and un-ironed uniform. Giving off the vibe that she was mostly likely a first year and that was evident due to the sloppy job she did on the booth.

'No one wants to join the club.. Sis was right, maybe I should have joined another club.'

She leaned back in her chair sighing deeply as she ran a hand through her hair in an attempt to try to calm down her stressed and embarrassed nerves—until, out of no where.

Someone approached her booth.

It was none other than Ji Won. Looking down at her with a scrutinizing and stoic gaze—hiding his inner thoughts near perfectly.

"Nice booth you have here. You're a first year?"

The girl immediately smiled—her expression friendly and excited. She stood up, putting her hands on the desk as she leaned forward, trying to be as confident as possible.

"Yep! You wanna join my club mister?"

Ji Won's eyes flickered across her body—giving her a once over. The girl immediately shying away from his rather intense and intimidating gaze, most definitely getting the wrong idea.

'Is he checking me out?! Sis warned me about handsome seniors! They always pick on juniors!'

He saw right through that delicate facade of confidence she had put up, but it was amusing to see a first year scramble—but for now he kept up being stoic. Not knowing what the girl was thinking about him.

"No. Just checking out the new clubs. I'm from the Copying Club. The name's Hyuk Ji Won. What's yours?"

The girl took a deep breath—gathering the last threads of her fading confidence under the larger and much more dominant senior's presence. Especially since Ji Won was from the feared Copying Club..

"Um.. Han Soo-jin.. I've got a Beast Summoner class. I'm 16.. Turn 17 this year."

Ji Won tilted his head ever so slightly—holding back his amusement at the desperate attempts to seem normal. He took a step back, trying to make sure that he didn't seem like a creep. He didn't want any misunderstandings after all.

"Well. Soo-jin. If you want help with anything, just tell me."

Han Soo-jin nodded, watching as Ji Won walked away and as soon as he did—she sat back down on her chair. Deflating into it as she clutched her chest, feeling the rapid beat under her palms.

'That guy... He's the younger brother of the strongest hunter from Korea.. I bet he's even more of a monster since he's known for fighting losing battles..'

Ji Won could feel her gaze on his back—a bit curious as to why she was staring at him. But he didn't mind, since what kind of teenager would not like a girl staring at him?

He walked past the Assassin Club's booth, already seeing a line gather, the club leader. A handsome guy with black hair and eyes was sitting behind the booth—a small charming smile on his face.

'Hm.. Assassins shouldn't stick out—but whatever, I'm here to set clear that we're still at the top after all, I promised Yoosung Hyung that much at the least.'

His true purpose was definitely not normal—he was here to set clear one thing and one thing only. That the Copying Club, even if it had lost a monster like Baek Yoosung, it was still at the top of the pecking order.

His eyes skimmed over the rest of the booths, the Enchanting club's booth having floating books and flyers flying around to all students—but when it came to Ji Won, he just swatted it away.

He approached the booth curiously. A small contemplative frown on his face as the students in line to apply for the club got out of his way—like a group of cats avoiding a lion.

"What's the difference between the Enchanting and Mage guild anyway? Since their both users of mana are they not?"

He asked the club founder—another girl. But this time she had long flowy white hair and was definitely more elegant and wearing a black lacy dress instead of the normal suit. A guaranteed high class member of society.

"Oh? One of the legendary members of the Copying Club? None other the Cursed Ji Won?"

She looked up at Ji Won, matching his stoic gaze with one of her own—her teal eyes staring unblinkingly into Ji Won's own—an attempt to appear intimidating but she just ended up looking rather weird.

"Well. Answer, what's the actual purpose of the enchanter class?"

She took in a deep breath—putting her hands on her laps before closing her eyes. Collecting her thoughts.

"Well. Us Enchanters can only affect objects, make them fly or become stronger. Some stronger ones can enchant people as well... Why are you asking me? Are you entranced by my beauty? Perverted indeed."

She had a small smug smirk on her face—that quickly fell off as she noticed the incoming slap from Ji Won that was stopped by Sae Jaehyun who appeared besides him in a near instant.

"Ji Won.. Why are ya slapping her?"

Sae Jaehyun was trying to appear disapproving—but he was internally trying his absolute best to hold back his laughter.

'Idiot's never gonna get a girlfriend at this rate.. I might have to find him a body pillow or something.'

Ji Won turned to face him, their expression the same—both giving 100% into not just burst out into hysterical giggling.

"Well.. I just wanted to mess around ya know? These girls are too accusing nowadays~"

The girl stood up, glaring at the duo—anger and her damaged pride were flowing through her veins. Her jaw was clenched and her hands gripped the sheet that was set on the table in front of her.

"I was just joking!!"

Ji Won ignored her. Putting his hands into his suit's pocket as his lips upturned into a more teasing smirk.

"Well. Jaehyun. Lets leave huh? These juniors are too sensitive. Nepo babies I swear.."

Sae Jaehyun had to physically pinch himself to prevent himself from just failing—his face turning a bit red. He didn't reply since even opening his mouth would end up with him laughing.

They both silently walked away—leaving the girl annoyed and definitely embarrassed. She called out from behind them, her voice loud and almost shrilling.

"I'm the daughter of the biggest tycoon in Asia! I'll have your tongue fed to goats! I swear on my name! Pan Soo-yun! Remember it!"

Ji Won and Sae Jaehyun hasted their steps, running away to a far corner—away from prying eyes as they finally gave in. Laughing and enjoying the effect they had on Pan Soo-yun.

"Nepo baby 101."

They said to eachother in unison, a massive grin on their face.

Sae Jaehyun slowly calmed down—looking down at Ji Won who was on the ground rolling around—still laughing like there was no tomorrow.

"Alright alright. Calm down ya bully. I've got something important."

Ji Won also calmed down—inhaling a deep breath of air, standing up from the ground and straightening his suit's jacket. Putting his hands behind his back—a grin still plastered across his face.

"Yeah? What is it?"

Sae Jaehyun rummaged through his pockets and pulled out an official looking letter,

"This letter says that to avoid unnecessary violence, the school is gonna hold some tournament for clubs. Ten days from now. And the winner? Gets not only bragging rights, but TEN Exp potions."

Greed immediately filled their hearts—not for the potions or bragging rights. But simply because they had now gotten the opportunity to show off without being a savage.

"Well... Lets get ready then. Its not like we gotta manage anything."

Sae Jaehyun immediately looped an arm around Ji Won's neck. Nodding in agreement as they both walked out of the recruiting hall. Leaving the entire hall in relief knowing the two seniors were gone.

Ji Won didn't care what any one else thought, he was mean and definitely a menace. But this wasn't for them anyway.

It was for Yoosung and Jaehyun. And most definitely himself.
