Maria:
" How dare you?! " I said, flinging my hands to her smooth face.
Diana fell on the floor with her butt facing everyone. Her minions almost wanted to burst into laughter, but they immediately composed themselves. She quickly got up and started faking hot tears.
"I can't believe this big sis. " Just because I confronted you for cheating on your husband, is this how you tend to treat me back?" She said out loud, drawing everyone in the restaurant's attention to her and what she wanted to say.
Suddenly, I was confused. What was she saying? Was she trying to paint me black in front of all these people? People who didn't know what had happened at first all started throwing bad-eye glances at me.
They were all murmuring among the people. "What the heck!"
Diana held her legs. "My legs, I think they are broken. " Sis, what do I ever do to you to deserve all this? " I just wanted to tell you cheating on your husband, Daniel Thompson, was wrong, and you ended up humiliating me like this. " I was just trying to look out for you," she continued with the fake lies and tears.
Drawing people's sympathy towards themselves. Her minions surrounded her and followed her with her acting. I hissed. "Diana, you sure do know how to act and fool people," I said with my hands on my hips.
An elderly woman came up to me and spat. "You are so evil, you can't even help your sister out. " Is this how you were raised?!" She shouted at me.
"She should be banned from this restaurant. People like her are so disheartening," another woman added.
Diana increased her sobbing. " My legs, I need the hospital, I think somewhere is broken. " She yelled.
Some people came rushing to her and as they tried to touch it, she faked a wince. I knew it was just another act to seek attention and make me a bad person like always.
The manager, on seeing the issue that had escalated in the restaurant, asked a few people what had happened and, obviously, they all pointed bad fingers at me.
"Security! Security! Take them out, and put their pictures up. " They are hereby banned from entering this restaurant," the manager said as the security led me and Frankie outside.
Frankie tried to explain to the manager that he got everything wrong, but there was a very negative air around us and it was no use. I stopped Frankie to just forget about it and that they wouldn't believe us as long as it was Diana.
Before I left, Diana looked at me and gave a very mischievous smirk. "Fool!" I spat.
The day was already ruined. Frankie and I took a walk down the street talking and laughing at the whole drama.
" I can't believe she did that, "Frankie said. "Look at how we were humiliated. I'm just so glad you showed her stars as you slapped her. " Gosh, I'm going to miss the restaurant meals." Frankie cried out.
"Welcome to my world! Typical Diana. "Too bad we just got banned. " This brings a lot of memories." I laughed.
"Remember college. " That girl who had a crush on you during the sophomore year?" I asked.
Frankie placed his hands on his jaw, trying to remember. "Uhm, remind me, please. " I had a lot of crushes." He praised himself and I giggled.
" Don't flatter yourself, Mr Frankie. " I am talking about Briella, "I recalled and he exclaimed.
" Oh, oh! You mean Gabriella? "
"Yes, Gabriella. " Remember one time she thought we were in a relationship, the day she met us having lunch in that restaurant we always went to after-class hours." I chuckled.
"Oh my God! "How can I forget? " I remember she was always on your tail. "I can remember it just like it was yesterday. " She wanted to pour a bowl of hot soup on you, but she ended up pouring it on herself because she stepped on a banana peel," Daniel recalled and laughed out loud.
" For the entire year, her skin was burnt, she had to take a year gap because she had to undergo surgery. "
" Well, her family are rich."
"Imagine if she actually did pour the hot soup on me," I added.
"We were all banned from the restaurant too and Gabriella hated me more, and I still feel the heat of her hatred from wherever she is," I added with a laugh.
It was already getting late. "Maria, take your time to get ready, be prepared for the big day tomorrow." Frankie adviced.
"Okay, Mom," I teased, and we both went our separate ways. I decided to check in at the police department for Daniel. I haven't quite seen him.
I walked into the precinct and, as usual, it was always busy and crowded. Police officers troupe in and out with different criminals and others who violated some little rules, as Daniel did.
Taking a deep breath, I made my way to the detective looking after Daniel. "Hello, Sir," I called, only to be cut off.
"It's a detective, Mrs, you can call me that to respect me, because hell yeah, I earned that." He spoke out.
"My apologies, Detective." I quickly corrected myself.
"I'm here for Daniel, Daniel Thompson, my husband," I said.
"I know who you are, girlie." He replied sharply. He looked down at the precinct, probably searching for someone. "Maica!" He yelled. "Get your legs up here." He ordered.
The young rookie came up to where we were. "Yes, Detective," Maica answered.
"This little Mrs says she wants to see the rich kid. " Is he in?" the detective asked.
"Yes, Detective he is."
"Okay then, tell him his little girl's here to see him again, and she has been disturbing our peace." The detective instructed.
"I am not his little girl, I'm his wife," I said, flaunting my ring on his face.
"Damn it! "Nice ring, Mrs Thompson, little girl or damn wife still the same thing." He mocked.
Maica walked away to follow orders while the rude detective and I stood eye to eye. "I hope you guys are treating him better here and my meals get to him," I inquired.
"Yes, yes, we do. And yea about that, Mrs Thompson, try adding a bit of pepper to your food. " For a Mexican man like me, I sure do love a hot chili pepper soothing my tongue," he replied.
"You know I could report you to your captain and potentially sue this precinct." I threatened.
"My lady, go right on. " I'll make sure your handsome man returns home with one eye open and half balls." He replied quietly.
Just then Maica reported back to us. "Ma'am, he said he do not want to see you. " He specifically said you should go home," Maica announced.
What! Not again, this wasn't the first nor the second time I have used my time coming here and Daniel just embarrassed me and turned me away. "He said that?" I asked again. Maica nodded in affirmation.
"Sorry, Mrs. It seems like you didn't give him enough the last time you two had sex, you know. He's been here for quite some time, and you know a man gotta do what a man gotta do. "He's just obviously pissed." The detective teased me again.
I wasn't going to have this from this man. I really wasn't going to let this man harass me, not today. I was so vexed that I didn't know what gave me the courage. I raised my hands and gave the detective a hot slap.
"I am a lady doesn't mean you take advantage of me." I fired angrily.
The detective held his face and everyone stopped what they were doing to process what had just happened. "You dare slap an Officer of the law!" The detective yelled.
"Mister man, I only exercised my right as a citizen of the country. " You can't stand here and harass me because you are some so-called officer with a so-called rank tied to his toy badge," I said.
"Hands behind your back, lady!" He ordered angrily.
"How about your hands behind your back," Maica said to the detective.
"I'm a witness of your harassment of young females who had come into the precinct for one reason or the other and I witnessed this lady's own too," Maica added.
The detective looked at the young rookie and chuckled. "You must be mad."
He tried to hit the rookie twice and suddenly the entire precinct faced their guns at him. "Direct physical abuse of fellow officers is prohibited! Detective. There are a lot of witnesses that can testify to this. Hands-on air where I can see them," another detective ordered.
The detective placed his hands above his head and the other walked over to him. Detective Shell, you are under arrest for harassment of young females and the attempted physical abuse of a fellow Officer right under the nose of the precinct.
"You have the right to an attorney, and, as usual, the right to remain silent." Another female detective behind me added.
There was applause everywhere. It seemed like everyone disliked that detective Shell after all. I smiled at Maica for standing up, and he smiled right back at me and nodded.
There was nothing left for me to do there anymore as the man I came to see wasn't interested in seeing me. I boarded an Uber and finally got home. I went straight to bed as I was so worn out from all the drama in just one day.
Before I knew what was going on, I had already dozed off.
The next morning, I woke up a little late from the time I intended to wake up. I quickly threw in my towel, ran to take my shower, and practiced my composure. I was already ready to leave. I went downstairs, had a light breakfast, and got into my Uber.
In thirty minutes, I had already reached my destination. Before I got out of the car, I called Frankie. "I'm here," I said to him, as I laughed my anxiety away.
"How are you feeling?" he asked.
"Damn nervous Frankie, damn nervous!" I replied as I tried to keep my cool.
"Hey Maria, take a deep breath and let it all out." He instructed over the phone.
I did that and it only made it worse. Defeated, I stepped out of the Uber, and right in front of me was the most prestigious number one company in the United States, Reynold Donalds Company.
I held my bag over my chest. "It's time. "Now or never" I said, and charged toward the building with my head high.
I walked in and everything was breathtaking. It was like I had just walked my way into another galaxy. Everything was of high standards and technology. I tried composing myself, but it was crazy not to stare.
Different people from different parts of the world. It was beautiful. An AI robot moved toward me and scanned me from head to toe. "You are booked for an interview today, Miss Falcone," It said in his robot voice.
"Follow me." it instructed.
I was so amazed. Yes, this is the future, I thought. I continued observing everywhere as the robot took me to an interview room and told me to sit. I sat on the electric chair slowly as I hoped not to do anything stupid.
"Calm your nerves, your heartbeat rate is over one point five beats in one second, your interviewer will be here in a few minutes." The AI robot elucidated.
It moved to the end edge of the room and just then a woman walked into the room with her hands placed on her waist. My eyes traced her movement from her legs to her head.
"Gabriella?!" I exclaimed.
