A giant orange beam with red outlines of condensed flame flew above them. The heat from the beam caused cracks to appear on his barrier. The heat leaking through those tiny cracks caused them to scream in agony as their flesh burnt.
He didn't want to know what would've happened if the thing hit them directly. They watched as the beam hit the ground kilometres away from them.
It continued to splits the ground for tens of kilometres more. Everywhere the beam hit a huge explosion of towering flames followed. This lasted for a few seconds.
When it was over they stood up, before them was a huge gorge that stretched for tens of kilometres and was about a dozen kilometres wide on it widest, they could not even see how deep it was. The gorge was still red with lava flowing on it sides.
A distant mountain had been completely obliterated by the beam. They turned their heads and looked at the culprit of this destruction.
Without a rush the beast took a single step, the volcano shook, cracks spread from where if foot landed. They knew they could not run from it nor fight it.
If it wanted them dead, they would die without question. Multiple thought ran through Noels head at the same time, he was trying to think of a way they could survive this or atleast he could.
Clark, any ideas? No, you? None, I guess this is it, damnit I'm so young and pretty to die, said Cathra jokingly. Victor was shaking uncontrollably and Iron stood there without a word or any sign of worry.
He looked around and saw the cave they came out of. I have a crazy idea, it might get us killed but we have a better chance of surviving than dealing with that thing.
What is it? He pointed at the cave the big one was standing right above of. You have got to be kidding. He just looked at her without saying a word. Damn, you serious, you're really crazy you know that? She said with a resigned smile.
They were just about to run towards the cave when the big salamander opened it mouth. Fire gathered in it mouth again like last time. They knew there was not enough time to get to the cave nor can they dodge this time.
They stood still, Victors was crying, tears and snort filling his face. Cathra just looked resigned, sadness visible in her eyes. Noel was angry, he was fuming, he was not used to this feeling and that made him even angrier.
Angy at the creature for daring to make him feel this way and at himself for being weak. Let me out, he heard a guttural whisper in his head.
He ignored it, he had no idea what that was and had no time to entertain inner thought.i can save us, let me out, this time it felt like the whisper was right next to his ears.
What...what happening?, he felt his body get weak, his thoughts became slower, just as he was about lose control the beast closed it mouth.
It raised it head and looked at the distant place behind them and roared, fury and ..fear? Were visible in it eyes. It turned around and went back behind the volcanic mountain.
What....just happened? Asked Cathra. We're saved, WE'RE SAVED, shouted Victor with even more tears falling off his eyes. We should go, Noel said.
They turned around and ran. The clearing where they left Felix was gone. The trees in the surrounding tens of kilometres were burnt to ashes.
Is..Felix dead? Cathra asked with a sad voice, the coach, the horses and other things were gone, there was nothing, not even a fragment of a bone to show he was here, that thing had completely turned him to ash.
Iron was sad, Noel can see that even through his helmet. He on the other hand felt nothing, Felix death meant nothing to him. Let go, he said.
They ran for kilometres having to fend off shaken beast. Every creature still alive was in high alert and attacked anything that came close to them.
This delayed their trip a little but a few hours later they were out of the ash filled part of the forest. They came out to a part of the forest where the trees were untouched by the flames.
It was as if somebody had placed a barrier seperating the two parts of the forest. They immediately fell down and breathed a sigh of relief.
What are our next course of action? Asked Cathra. We go back ofcourse, we can't stay here, this place is too dangerous, we almost died and this is all your fault, you were supposed to put them to sleep.
My fault? My fault, you have a goddanmed nerve to say that, it was your greed and incompetence that got us here and this is not even the first time.
You have put this party in danger multiple times with your stupidity and you always blame everybody else for it, Victors face was now red.

Their argument was getting heated, wind gathered around Cathra. You know Victor, I've always let you believe you're stronger than I am to stroke your stupid ego but the truth is, you're weak Victor.
Not just weaker than I am, you're weaker than everybody, you're incompetence, have the intelligence of a damn rat and the worst part, everybody knows this but you.
Honestly, if your family didn't threaten me with my sister I would've never joined the party of a greedy coward like yourself. He was shaking from anger, Noel watched all of this with a calm face.
Iron was fidgeting like he wanted to interfere. SHUT UP, he shouted and ran towards her, his sword drawn. Stiff, she whispered and Victors body went stiff.
You know, stiff is one of the weakest spells I have, enough to just stun opponents but look at you, you can't even move yet you still think yourself something important, you're nothing Victor Barrow, nothing but a parasite that only knows how take credits from others, she whispered to him with a mocking smile but her eyes filled with raging anger.
