Chapter 40 - Chapter 40

DEMON

Felix? You're alive? Cathra asked. Before Felix could answer, Iron was already hugging him, the big guy still not saying a word but relief could be seen on him.

Hey hey hey, not so hard, you're crushing me, he said with a smile. So what going on here? Nothing, we should go, Cathra said as she released Victor from the spell.

The guy looked like he just had his soul crushed, his eyes were vacant and his body slumped over the moment he was released from the spell.

Iron looked at him with worry, they followed Felix to the place where he left the coach. So how did you survive that?asked Cathra. Honestly I don't know, i saw light and the next instant I woke up in the woods.

That sounds damn suspicious doesn't it? I know right? There might be ghosts in this forest, he said, his body shivering. They left immediately after.

By sunrise they were already out of the forest. The volcanoes became a distant blur to them. Nightfall came and they set camp, during the entire time Victor kept quiet even when Felix tried to talk to him.

He would probably take a while to recover from this, not that he cares. It not like he was that useful in battle anyways, even if he does not recover there won't be much of a loss to their overall power.

They ate and chatted, well the Cathra and Felix did. The other three were very quiet. Victor did not even eat. By morning they were back in the road.

Their journey was peaceful, eerily so, not coming across beasts was understandable but there were not even normal animals on the road, there were not even insect and insects were usually everywhere.

Stop, he said. They turned and looked at him. What? Why did we stop? Asked Cathra. Look around, what do you see? Nothing, she replied, no..thing at all, she said it slower that time, she realised it as well.

Something is wrong, she said and they all got out of the coach except Victor. Iron pulled his iron shield and stood in the front. Noel was ready to cast a barrier.

The walked a few hundred metres forward until they came across a beautiful field of flowers. They had passed by this field before, it was filled with beautifully coloured butterflies but now there were no more butterflies.

Standing in this field instead was a beautiful man with pale white skin, blonde hair and red eyes. He was wearing a white shirt and black pants. He looked human except for the two horns jutting out on both sides of his head facing upwards.

The man was sniffing a flower with a peaceful expression. His eyes distant and devoid of any emotions. Their bodies tensed. De.. demon, said Cathra with a shaky voice.

So that a demon? Noel thought with a calm expression.( Notice, attribute* Call of shadows activated) the system said in his head, he ignored it.He felt no fear looking at the being infront of them. He knew he was stronger than him but that still did not faze him.

He was not an easy man to scare after all. I thought I smelled the blood of one of my pets around here, the being said. Are you the one who killed it, he asked in a calm voice? Noel obviously had no idea what he was talking about.

I have killed quite a few worthless things, so you have to be more specific. The man waved his hand and a mark appeared in the air. He recognised the mark, it was the one of the leopards stomach.

I see, that would be me indeed. Understood, so how do you intend to compensate me for this loss? Considering it was your pet that tried to kill me first, I don't see why I should compensate you in any way.

----------------------------------------------------------

While these two were talking Cathras thought were in shambles. What the hell what the hell what the hell is a demon doing here, of all the things she never wished to meet a demon was amongst the top.

Although it radiated the aura of a baron rank demon which was an equivalent of E rank, she knew there was no way they could win this.

Demons were know to be able to match multiple humans of the same rank let alone those of a rank below. They had the stats of monsters and beasts.

Could learn the same skills as other sentient races and were masters of magic plus every true demon had the rare attributes of destruction.

Other than demons or other hell dwellers very few other creatures awakened such an attributes. They were creatures of nightmares told in horror stories and one such being was standing infront of them.

The worst part, Clark was conversing with such a being like they were old acquaintances, did this guy not know fear? Now that she thinks about it, she had never seen him scared, no matter how dire the situation is, he is always cool headed.

She wanted to scream at him to shut up but her voice was stuck in her throat. She was shaking and so was iron. The only other time she had felt such fear was when that other Clark looked at her.

I believe your soul and those two behind you would suffice as compensation. I'm afraid that is out of the table, like I said before, I don't see why I should compensate you.

I see, so you're not going to compromise? Compromising is not my forte. Shut up shut up shut up you idiot you going to get us killed, she screamed in her head.

You two should leave, she heard him say. What?

-----------------------------------------------------------

Noel could tell how strong this being infront of him was. He tried using heavenly eyes on him and all he saw was:

Name: Gurark ( avatar)

This was not even his real body yet it was giving him a terrifying feeling.

The whispers had returned, he was really contemplating letting the being inside him out. He doesn't know anything about them but suspected they weren't very friendly so he told the other two go.

No, he heard a tiny cute girly voice say. He turned around and Iron was talking. We not leaving you Mr Clark. You're a girl? Iron did not answer that. Cathra sighed, sorry Clark.

I know we will probably die here but what kind of scum will we be if we leave a comrade behind to face a monster like this alone, she said with a smile? You will be logical scum, there's no way to win this so no one is going to blame you.

Besides, this thing is after me, there's no reason for you to die here. Stop being so dramatic, no one is going to die, maybe just one, said a very familiar voice.

They looked towards the woods where a woman with an eye patch and red hair came out smiling. He hated to admit it but he was somewhat glad she was here, even if that confirmed she was spying on him.( Notice, attribute* Beloved Child of fate activated)
