Chapter 10 - Chapter 10 - Wormhole Portal | Goblins

The cave was huge. Unusually large for a goblin's den. It's length was 9-Meters, and 8-Meters wide. Really unusual.

Normally, a low class goblin den would be, at most 10 feet in length, and 10 feet in width.

Goblins are small monstrous creatures that stand at 3 feet. Some grow up to be 4'5 feet at maximum. They have ugly, and hideous faces. They have dark green skin with long pointy ears that bend downward, small sharp teeth, sometimes long, and horizontally oval shaped yellow colored eyes that have the same patterns as a goat. They use anything as weapons. Rocks, small swords, daggers, small clubs, slingshots, bows. And they only wear one piece of cloth, or armor from their waist down, and groin.

An individual goblin is not intelligent. Their entire colony have a combined IQ of a 12 year old human child.

If goblins were to act independently, they would accidentally kill themselves. They cannot survive alone.

Goblins are always in groups. If one gets stranded from the herd, the said goblins will, most likely die or kill itself by accident.

Goblins are weak, but dangerous.

An average adult who has never once fought in his life, would have no trouble taking down a goblin.

One goblin has a quarter of a human's strength. And that is why a goblin is an easy target, and can be taken care of very easily.

But, things may change if there is more than one goblin. Suppose ten goblins versus two average adult humans. Things change when numbers are added to a disadvantage side. A ratio of 2:10. With a ratio like that, it may as well be a one-sided massacre.

Goblins are weak, but dangerous. They make up for their weaknesses of being weak by numbers.

Goblins have short lifespans of about 9-13 years.

There is one last thing that makes goblins so dangerous. Their insatiable lust. The desire to live by procreating with their own or any other species to ensure their own survival is the only thing that keeps them going, and keeps them live. It's their only way of life, the only way of life them have ever own, and it's their only way of survival.

The name "Goblin" was given to them because of their hideous appearance.

The raid leader was in the front, leading everyone that followed behind. After walking for no more than one minute, the raid leader said, "Get ready! They're coming", in a firm tone.

Everyone held their weapons, and took a fighting stance before the goblins came running, swarming us.

We are 14 Scythes, excluding me. And the goblins were more than 30.

Numbers are the only advantage goblins have. And just like any other unintelligent goblin with the same brain that doesn't think much, they thought they could overwhelm us by the sheer force of numbers they had.

However, as soon as the first three goblins got closer, and jumped towards the raid leader to overwhelm him, he put his right foot forward, and bent the knee, put his left foot back, and lifted the heel. He grabbed the sheath on his left waist by his right hand.

He took a deep breath, and exhaled, some could mistake it for a sigh. He drew his long sword, and said, with a voice filled with malice, "I hate your kind", and sliced the goblins in half. It was not just the three goblins who jumped first, but also the ones who followed behind met the same fate. His long sword released some sort of energy after he had drawn it, and every goblin was sliced in half, except the two who were in the back. 28 out of 30 goblins had died from a single slash from a C-Class Scythe.

The two goblins who were left didn't have it differently. They tried to run away back to where they came from, but were promptly burned by a D-Class female Scythe. She had a small build with an average height. She had short dark black hair, and wore eye glasses. She was wearing a white dress with a black skirt, and wore a light armor that covered her legs, and her upper body till the shoulder. Her name was Jasmine Sung, and she was in her early twenties.

"Great work"

The raid leader said, complementing her fast thinking, and actions.

"It was no problem at all raid leader."

She said, in a calm tone.

"In fact, it was you who took care of most of them. I just burned the remaining two with my Fire Magic when I saw them getting away."

She added, in a calm tone.

"And If you hadn't done that, they would've called for reinforcements, and that is why I said "great work" after witnessing your amazing split second decision making skills. You're gonna be a great Scythe kiddo!"

The raid leader said, with a big smile on his face.

"Thank you, raid leader."

She responded, with a calm voice.

"And, everyone else too! Keep working like her, and you'll make great Scythes!"

The raid leader added, and gave everyone a thumbs up with a big smile.

"Yes sir! Thank you sir!"

Everyone responded, in unison.

After that small conversation with a few words of encouragement, everyone started moving forward, and going deeper inside the cave.

After walking forward for five minutes, arrows suddenly came flying from inside the holes of the cave walls.

The raid leader sensed the arrows that were shot towards them, but before he could do anything,

"Fire Wall", Jasime Sung raised her Fire Magic like walls to prevent the arrows from coming further towards them, and burned them in the process. She then fired her Fire Magic in those same holes, burning the shooter goblins who shot those arrows at them.

They didn't stop there, and kept going further deep inside the cave. After ten minutes of constant surprise attacks from the goblins, and counterattacking every single one of them, they finally reached the end of the cave. They reached the end of the cave, and at the end was a huge door that had weird rune patterns, and symbols, and fire lanterns on both sides of the door. Two unusually large, and muscular goblins, standing at 7 feet tall, were guarding the door. Maybe guarding something that was behind it. No one knew what was behind it, and no one would know unless someone went through. And that is exactly what the Scythes planned to do by killing the goblin guards.
