Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: Return to Konoha

The "within one year" rule isn't entirely accurate.

In the original Dragon Ball storyline, this restriction was brought up by Earth's Kami when the North Kai wanted to revive everyone killed by Frieza, including those on distant planets. But when it was just about reviving people on Earth, no such limit was ever mentioned. So, if you specify who to revive and narrow the scope, the time restriction might not be as strict.

For example, "Revive everyone killed by demons" versus "Revive Tanjiro's family"—the time limits for these wishes are likely different.

The real issues are…

First, when Earth's Shenron revives someone, their soul and body need to be intact. If a body's been buried normally for over two months, it'll likely have decomposed, and the soul might have already reincarnated, no longer meeting the conditions for revival.

Second, reviving people from the Demon Slayer world would probably require bringing the seven Dragon Balls to that world and summoning Shenron there. But whether Shenron can even function properly when summoned in another world…

That's something Uchiha Hikari was dying to find out.

After hearing this explanation, Tanjiro in the group chat seemed a bit downcast.

Hikari thought for a moment.

[Nameless: If you just want to see certain departed people again and talk to them, I might have a way. In my world and Eien-ni-Tsuma's, there are special ninjutsu that can temporarily bring the dead back to the living world.]

[Eien-ni-Tsuma: Miss Hikari, are you talking about Edo Tensei? But that's a forbidden technique in Konoha…]

[Nameless: No worries. I can ask the Third for permission to study it. I think he'd be more than happy to let me take a look.]

Hikari's eyes narrowed slightly, a flicker of coldness passing through them.

This time, she was heading back to settle the score with Danzo.

And if Sarutobi Hiruzen didn't play nice, she wouldn't mind having another "chat" with him.

"Speaking of which…"

Would Orochimaru be interested in "demons"?

The demons in the Demon Slayer world were a bit weaker in terms of raw power and had that pesky sunlight weakness. But… they were true immortals, perfectly aligning with Orochimaru's relentless pursuit of eternal life.

Plus, the souls in the Demon Slayer world were fascinating. They could linger in the mortal realm for extended periods and even communicate mentally with the living—something neither the Naruto nor Dragon Ball worlds could replicate. Knowing Orochimaru's scientific curiosity, he'd probably jump at the chance to investigate.

And Hikari just so happened to have her eye on a few of Orochimaru's enhanced secret techniques—and the contract scroll for Ryuchi Cave.

Once she dealt with Danzo, maybe she could pay him a visit and strike a deal…

Meanwhile, in the group chat, Tanjiro pinged Bulma, saying he wanted to visit the Dragon Ball world after defeating Muzan.

Bulma eagerly agreed, adding that she was curious about the Demon Slayer world too.

Hikari quickly stepped in to caution her:

[Nameless: I wouldn't recommend jumping over to Tanjiro's world so easily. It's dangerous for you. Those "demons" aren't something regular guns can handle. One mistake, and it could be deadly.]

[Bulma: Oh, got it…]

[Bulma: But Tanjiro mentioned the demons are weak to sunlight, right? What if I made a high-powered UV lamp as a weapon? Would that work?]

[IronHeadKid: What's ultraviolet?]

[Nameless: …You could give it a try.]

Hikari knew the Demon Slayer plot but had never seen a "demon" with her own eyes.

In theory, their sunlight weakness could be tied to ultraviolet rays, but it wasn't a sure thing. Demons were inherently unscientific creatures. Who knew if the sun in the Demon Slayer world had some special "exorcism" property? It was a case of bold guesses and careful testing.

[Nameless: I'm planning to visit Tanjiro's world in a bit. Bulma, if you're serious about checking it out, we can go together.]

[Bulma: Awesome!]

Amid the casual chat, Hikari climbed down from Karin Tower—her Bukujutsu (Flight Technique) was still shaky, and she didn't trust herself not to plummet mid-air, so she wasn't ready to rely on it yet. Instead, she piloted her aircraft back to Bulma's house in West City.

Bulma herself was at school, sending messages from class.

Dr. Brief welcomed Hikari warmly, then dragged her off to collect a bunch of blood samples for testing. He explained he was working on decoding the Uchiha clan's genetic sequence, but it'd take more time to get results.

As for a cure for her kekkei byo (bloodline disease), that would have to wait until the analysis was complete for a targeted treatment.

Hikari wasn't surprised by this.

For the Dragon Ball world, her kekkei byo was something that appeared out of nowhere, and she was the only sample available for study. Dr. Brief had other projects on his plate, so he couldn't devote all his time to this. The progress so far was already impressive.

Besides, with her temporary "Eternal Mangekyo" in place, she wasn't in a rush to cure the disease.

When Bulma got back from school, Hikari caught up with her on recent events, reiterated her warning not to visit the Demon Slayer world alone, and then waved goodbye before exiting the Dragon Ball world.

…

Naruto World.

Outside Konohagakure, in a forested area by a stream.

Uchiha Hikari opened her eyes and scanned her surroundings.

This was the exact spot where she'd fought those Root ninjas months ago.

Three months later, the bodies had been cleared away, but the scarred landscape remained. Looking around, she could still see the crisscrossing trenches carved by ninjutsu, weaving together like a dense spiderweb.

A layer of fresh snow blanketed the trenches, likely from a recent snowfall. It wasn't fully frozen yet, still soft to the touch.

"It's already winter in Konoha? The seasons don't seem to line up with the Dragon Ball world…"

"And the return point is fixed to where I left?"

Hikari frowned slightly.

It made sense.

But…

If someone figured out this pattern and camped out at her departure point to "guard the corpse," wouldn't that put her in danger?

Konoha's Anbu or Root doing this wouldn't be a big deal—she wasn't afraid of them anymore. But the Naruto world had a certain millennium-old filial son with a ton of White Zetsu clones scattered across the ninja world. If he caught wind of this, it could be trouble.

"Looks like I need to find a safe spot for each jump… or maybe just do it from Naruto's place."

"No one seems to be watching…"

Hikari carefully checked her surroundings before using her still-clumsy Bukujutsu to fly low toward Konohagakure, just outside the forest.
