Chapter 24 - 24 Sophia Plot to Kill Us

"Marco, it's a good thing you're here this time, otherwise we would all die here." After surviving the disaster, Roger patted Marco's shoulder with lingering fear.

"No, you guys also helped me a lot." Marco smiled slightly, "If it weren't for you, I wouldn't be sure to deal with this faceless blood demon and this bastard Kogas."

As he spoke, Marco walked to Kogas' body, lifted his head, and gently cut his throat with the dagger, just like the civilians killing chickens, and poured the blood from his throat onto the ground.

"What are you doing?" Roger asked as everyone came closer.

"Do you know why Madam Sophia wanted to kill so many mercenaries? Because this main tomb chamber itself is a formation. The activation of this formation requires a large amount of blood containing fighting spirit or magic elements to activate it. If we do the math, with this swordsman, it should be able to be activated."

As if to prove what he said, as Kogas's blood dried up, the entire main tomb chamber also changed. The walls of the tomb chamber began to ooze blood, and because the tomb chamber was low in the middle and high around, the blood formed a pool in the middle of the main tomb chamber. There was a gurgling sound of bubbles, and a box floated up from the pool of blood.

"How do you know this is a formation?"

"Because I was the one who set up this formation."

Marco was not afraid of the pool of dirty and pungent smelling blood. He walked to the center of the pool with blood dripping from his face and held the box in his arms.

He walked back step by step. The dirty blood stained his pants and wetly stained his legs. Everyone realized that his feet were much thinner than those of ordinary people. From a distance, they looked like two bamboo poles.

"What's that in your arms?" Roger asked.

"This is what Sophia wanted, but now it's mine." Marco opened the box and took out a book with a few pages torn out and a pink crystal. He smiled and said, "After raising it for so many years, I finally got something. It's worth my wait."

After saying that, Marco took out a strangely shaped badge from his pocket and threw it to Roger. The badge was a square of gold, and engraved with a very strange long-fanged monster.

"Although you are all safe now, Sophia will never let you leave Kulun alive. I believe that a large number of soldiers from the Marquis' Mansion are waiting for you in that hotel. Take this thing to meet her at the Marquis' Mansion and tell her that I took the Blood Nightmare Bible and the Blood Essence Stone. Although I don't know if this will work, maybe she will focus on me, and you will still have a chance of survival." As he spoke, Marco had already walked to the door of the main tomb. He didn't even turn his head, but just waved to everyone from a distance, "I hope we won't meet again in the future..."

*********

Madam Sophia got up at dawn. She was half lying on a rocking chair next to the stove, holding a cup in her hand. It was filled with the flower wine purchased from the wood elves.

Although it was called wine, it had no alcohol content at all. It was actually a drink made by the elves from nectar. After drinking this flower wine, it left a lingering fragrance on the lips and mouth, and made the mind and spirit refreshed. Therefore, although it was extremely expensive and often out of stock, the Marquise Mansion would always find ways to store some.

The thoughtful Marquise stared at the dancing flames in the stove, and was suddenly interrupted by the sound of footsteps. She looked up at the door and saw the butler Cooper hurried in with a golden object in his hand. The cold wind wrapped in snow squeezed in from the door, and the Sophia shrank.

"Madam, the people from the Hades Mercenary Group are back, and their leader is standing outside the Marquis's Mansion." Cooper walked into the hall, panting.

"Oh?" Sophia's eyes flashed with a cold light, and she asked coldly: "Where is Kogas?"

"He said that Kogas was assassinated by a man who suddenly appeared, and that man also stole the Blood Nightmare Bible and the Blood Essence Stone." The old butler, who had taken a breath, handed over the golden object. "This is what they took from that man."

"Tell him to meet me in the study!"

"Yes!"

Roger was invited to the Marquis's Mansion again. It was the same place and the same person. But this time, the Marquise's face was no longer calm and composed, but cloudy, as if a rainstorm would fall at any time. She looked at the golden badge Roger brought back without saying a word.

The whole study was as silent as death. Roger didn't dare to speak, both just sat there and waited silently.

"Where did that person go?" Sophia broke the silence.

"I don't know. He's too fast. We can't keep up."

"Did he tell you about my arrangements?"

"Uh...ah?" Roger looked at her blankly and wanted to tell a lie, but when he saw those frosty eyes, he lost his temper and nodded as if admitting defeat.

"Do you hate me?"

"I dare not." In fact, Roger had long wanted to pin this bitch under his crotch and beat her up like crazy, but the current situation did not allow it. If he dared to go up, he would probably become a corpse in a second. So he could only shake his head against his will.

"That person has bad intentions and wants to alienate the relationship between us and the Marquis's Mansion. I absolutely do not believe that the lady Sophia would treat us like this!"

"No! He was right, I just want to kill you. Kogas is the person I placed next to you to kill you all!

He should have told you, right? The formation can't be activated without blood."

Roger didn't expect Sophia to be so frank. He tried hard to pretend to be shocked or angry, but he was not good at acting and his expression was distorted and exaggerated.

"Hehe..." Sophia moved her eyes to the ceiling, staring at the patterns in a trance. "Killing you is not the purpose, getting that thing is the purpose. People call me the 'Blood Angel', but who knows how much helplessness there is in this name. He came back after all, and I killed so many innocent people to stop him, but still..."

"Then... why did you stop him?"

"Do you want to know?" Sophia retracted her gaze and looked at Roger meaningfully. The coldness in her eyes had faded, which made her murderous aura less. "Do me a favor and I will tell you this."

"This..." Roger hesitated, thinking about Kogas who had been plotting to kill them. He didn't know what kind of trap Madam Sophia would set for them next. He has always been a cautious person, especially when he has suffered a loss once.

"Are you afraid that I will plot to kill you again?" Lady Sophia smiled. Her bright smile seemed to melt the coldness in the north wind. At that moment, Roger could not associate her with the murderous "Blood Angels".

"To be honest, I really don't have the energy to deal with you little guys. When I received this just now, I ordered Cooper to mobilize the troops in the whole city to search for 'that person'. However, I received another letter for help from a lord last night. You can take a look."
