"Sir Gran, please have a taste."
"Sir Gran, let me fix your shirt. There's a hole in it."
"Sir Gran, please come and rest by my side. You can rest your head in my lap."
There was a bitter smile that was on my face when I saw how Saintess Amy was treating me.
It had been normal at first, but slowly it was getting worse and worse.
I looked at the maids and guards that followed her for help, but it didn't seem like any of them were interested in intervening. It even seemed like they were having fun at my expense with the way that they watched all of this with a smile on their faces.
While I wouldn't have minded if I got closer to Saintess Amy, this definitely wasn't what I had in mind.
In fact, it was at the point where she was almost acting like a girlfriend…
No, it was at the point where she was acting like a mother…
At the very least, it was a good thing that we were just a day away from Fairview and the hero ceremony.
If it wasn't for that, then I really might not have been able to hold on.
The night before we arrived, there was a sudden serious look that appeared on Saintess Amy's face as she sat down in front of me. With the look that was on her face, it really seemed like there was something that she wanted to talk about.
Only it also seemed like she was hesitating on whether she should say it or not. Especially since she was looking at the guards and maids while she was hesitating on whether to speak or not.
In the end, I couldn't help saying with a cough, "Is something the problem? It seems like you have something to discuss with me."
Saintess Amy seemed to jolt when she heard this before looking at me with a strange look.
But since I had called her out, it wasn't as if she could remain silent any longer.
So in a slow and hesitant voice, she said, "Well, there is something that I want to talk to you about."
Then it seemed like she was hesitating like she didn't actually know how to say what she wanted to say.
"You can tell me anything." I said in what I thought was a reassuring voice, but it seemed that it had a strange effect on Saintess Amy as she looked at me in a daze.
I didn't know what she was thinking as she looked at me like this, so I was about to say something else.
But she suddenly said, "I'm actually the saintess of the holy church."
After she said this, I could see that she was looking at me with a cautious look as if she was waiting for my reaction.
Only I didn't really react.
I had a calm look on my face as I looked back at her.
Seeing that I didn't say anything, Saintess Amy couldn't help asking, "Are you alright? Are you disappointed in me for lying to you this entire time?"
An awkward smile appeared on my face before I said, "Actually, I already guessed that you weren't a normal person. It was just that since you never said anything, I never said anything about it since I didn't want to pressure you."
A genuinely surprised look appeared on Saintess Amy's face when she heard this before she said, "What do you mean? How did you know about this?"
Shaking my head with a smile, I said, "Well, it wasn't as if you were hiding it that well. Between the special healing magic that you used on me and the way that the others acted around you, it wasn't that hard to guess what your status was. Though I didn't expect you to actually be the saintess."
This time, it was the guards and maids that revealed awkward looks.
They knew that they hadn't done the best in hiding Saintess Amy's identity, so they couldn't help feeling a bit responsible for this.
Only Saintess Amy didn't seem to care about this.
She was still looking at me with a trace of worry in her eyes before she slowly asked, "Are you disappointed in me?"
"Why would I be?"
Saintess Amy seemed surprised to hear this before she said in the same slow voice, "Well, I lied to you…"
"It's not as if this changes who you are. I understand that you have your circumstances, so why would I be angry at you if you hide this?" I said in a natural voice.
The way that Saintess Amy looked at me slowly changed before she revealed a moved look and slowly said, "Do you really mean it?"
"Like I said, it doesn't matter what your status is, it doesn't change who you are. So why would I be angry with you if you hide your identity?"
This time, Saintess Amy didn't actually say anything as she looked at me with a moved look.
I didn't say anything, but it did feel awkward when she just looked at me like this.
But she didn't remain silent for long as a smile appeared on her face.
"You said that you were heading to the hero ceremony, right?"
I was caught off guard hearing this, but then I said with a slow nod, "That's right, I was planning on heading to the hero ceremony after arriving at Fairview. I wanted to prove myself in this world."
"Then since you're heading to the hero ceremony, you should come with me. With my status as the saintess, I can at least help you get a good position."
A complicated look appeared on my face after she said this.
Seeing this, Saintess Amy said, "This isn't an advantage, it's just that there are too many people at the hero ceremony in the first place. What this will do is make sure that you have a chance to join the hero ceremony."
I still had a complicated look on my face, but eventually I gave a slow nod as if I was convinced by her.
But in reality…
"It took a while, but I finally led her to this."
