Chapter 10 - You think I'm beautiful?

Devon walked downstairs ever so majestically with his feet making not a sound as he walked. He was like a ninja, Lucas thought.

His yellow eyes looked even brighter at night; he was naked from his head down to his waist but had loose pants on, and his hair was still dripping wet from the shower.

"Y-y-you..." Lucas stuttered in shock.

"Hope I didn't keep you waiting for long?" Devon asked but Lucas was on the verge of getting a nosebleed.

"Why didn't you dry your hair first?" Lucas asked once he had calmed himself.

"I didn't want to keep you waiting for too long." Devon said.

"But you might catch a cold."

Devon heard this and then a dry smile played on his lips.

"A cold, huh? It's been a while since someone told me that."

It had been a really long time.

"But don't worry, I don't catch cold that easily."

Lucas pursed his lips. Yeah, his body temperature was already cold so it would be easy to say he was one with the cold.

Still...

"I'll dry it for you." Lucas said, getting up. "Let's go to the living room."

Devon stared at him. There was really no need. But if this little one said he wanted to do it, he guessed he could just let him.

"Alright,"

Devon sat on the couch with Lucas standing in front of him and drying his hair with a towel. It would've been faster if he used a hairdryer but Devon made a lie and said his hair dryer caught on fire that morning.

"I hope you don't get hurt." Lucas said and Devon laughed.

"Don't worry. I'm as fine as I've ever been."

Lucas could hear his own heart beating like thunder.

This was too close. They were too close.

He couldn't believe he was drying Devon's hair. He had snuck a peek at Devon's body a few times and he was fit. Really fit.

Though he always looked slender in his white shirt and black apron, his body without any clothes was simply divine, and it made him gulp with envy and longing.

"What are you thinking about, Lucas? If you don't hurry, the food will get cold."

"Y-yes." Lucas answered but then he paused. He finally resolved himself to say it. "It's just because you look so beautiful." His voice was barely above a whisper, but Devon caught what he said and smiled softly.

"You think I'm beautiful?" he asked, making Lucas blush even harder as he looked away. "If you really want this to work, don't be shy and own up to your words, Lucas."

"Yes… I do," Lucas admitted it. "You are very beautiful with your pale skin, fine body proportions, and pretty face. Your eyes, most especially draw me to you before I even realize it. It's to the point you seem unreal, like a fantasy." He pursed his lips. "A fantasy I want to live in."

Devon suddenly wrapped his arms around Lucas's waist and pulled him in.

"Whoa." Lucas exclaimed and looked down to find Devon staring at him with mesmerizing eyes.

"Is that why you like me so much?" Devon asked but Lucas shook his head.

"I liked you before I saw your body."

"Then is it my eyes?"

Lucas looked into his eyes. He couldn't even bring himself to lie while looking at those eyes.

"It's a part of it." Lucas said and then brushed his fingers through Devon's hair. "But I love how calm and how nice you are."

Devon paused for a moment.

"Then what if I told you I'm not that nice of a guy? And I'm not calm either. I simply act that way when I'm in the cafe so I don't scare away my customers." Devon explained which got Lucas thinking.

Devon being a violent guy? He just couldn't imagine it.

"If you're as bad as you want me to think then," he caressed Devon's face softly, and then his eyes fell on his lips. "... I believe I can endure for a while."

"Just for a while?"

"I'm not someone who doesn't know when to run when faced with danger." Lucas admitted and took steps back. "My life isn't that great but it's still worth living. And if I may lose my life by walking into a rail that will get me crushed then I'd rather step away from the rail before the train comes. But before that, as long as I don't see the train, I will... Bide my time." He said and smiled. "Was that a satisfactory answer?"

Devon was taken aback.

Ah, so he knew when to run in the face of danger, huh? He thought he was just a modest love-struck boy, but it seemed things would be harder to deal with.

'I can't have such a tasty meal running from me from the start.' he thought and stood up. 'I guess I'll have to bide my time and play with this one for much longer.'

Devon smiled at Lucas, took his hand, and said,

"Alright, let's do that. Let's bide our time until we see the sign to run, okay?"

Lucas nodded.

He didn't mean to sound like he was running from a monster but he didn't know how else to rephrase his words.

They decided to eat. The pasta was delicious and when served with wine, with the house dimly lit and soft music playing in the background, it made it seem like they were having a candlelit dinner at a fancy restaurant.

It made Lucas's heart race in glee.

"Lucas, can I ask you a question?" Devon suddenly asked as he took a sip of his wine, and Lucas stopped eating. He picked up the napkin and wiped his lips.

"Uhm, sure, what is it?" Lucas asked, slightly curious, what questions Devon wanted to ask him.

"I know I asked us to take things slow, but can we take things a step forward?" Devon asked as he reached across the table, touching Lucas's hand.

Lucas's heart raced at that small gesture as he looked at their hands and smiled softly; he didn't know if he should say he loved him but at a time like this because this was something similar to a signal.

"I... I want to be your lover." Lucas boldly said, but then it sounded like he was begging for it. "Please allow me to be your lover."
