"Welcome to my place, Lucas."
Wait, why were they at Devon's pace? Weren't they going out for dinner? He thought they would go to a restaurant or... Lucas's heart pounded.
Weren't they going a little too fast?
Devon watched Lucas's frantic thoughts spew out of his head and smiled. He was so easy to read when he was flustered.
He stepped out of the car, stretching lazily as he waited for Lucas to step out of the car. When he eventually did, he had a tired but shocked look on his face.
How was a cafe owner able to buy a condo? Or, did he have the condo before opening the cafe?
But, if his boss had the money to build such a condo, why bother to start a cafe in the first place? Lucas asked himself these questions, but he didn't have the guts to say it out loud.
Devon smiled at him leisurely as he strolled forward.
"Does this surprise you?" He asked and Lucas nodded.
"Well, it's too early to be surprised." Devon said as he placed a hand on Lucas's shoulder. "There's still so much to see."
Lucas began to wonder. What could there be in the condo that would surprise him? Wait, it couldn't be that he had prepared something for him?
Was it a bouquet of flowers?
No, no, he was getting over his head. They might be here for a date but they weren't here to be all romantic... Right?
He was not sure anymore, and he began to wonder if the surprise had something to do with the food.
Did he have some famous chefs who would prepare their meals?
"Come in, Lucas." Devon said as Lucas jolted out of his thoughts, remembering he had zoned out for a while. He hastened his steps to catch up with Devon who was already a little distance ahead of him.
"C-coming."
The condo was beautiful and had everything, and a whole lot of gold furniture in it. Everything screamed 'wealth' in Lucas's ear and blinded his eyes with how sparkly they were.
Lucas looked left and right but there didn't seem to be any such surprises as he thought. There wasn't even anyone in the condo.
So, no famous chef either.
'I knew I was just getting over my head.' he thought and plopped himself on the couch carefully, maybe scared that his butt would rip something so expensive, and Devon smiled in amusement as he watched him while rolling up the sleeves of his shirt and searched for the remote before switching the television on.
"So, what would you like me to prepare for you?" Devon asked with his usual friendly smile but it took Lucas aback.
So that was why they came to his place. He was going to cook for him. It surprised him.
Of course, he knew Devon was good with his hands because he ran the cafe well and was good at baking, but he just didn't expect...
"What's the matter?" Devon asked and Lucas held his breath as his eyes came to face Devon.
Lucas looked at him, somewhat daydreaming about how manly he looked with those few buttons undone. He was naturally pale and it made him wonder if his chest was just as pale with how fit he was.
He was the epitome of a sexy and alluring man.
Lucas gulped.
"Anything is fine with me. I don't mind," Lucas said but Devon did not say anything and simply watched him, his eyes brimming with a smile.
His stare and smile made Lucas a bit uncomfortable but he held it in. He didn't know why Devon was looking at him so intimately but he couldn't show that he was intimidated.
Seeing his resolve, Devon almost laughed. He was a cute little thing.
It took a moment before he turned around and said,
"Alright," Devon said. "How about pasta?"
"S-sure. Thank you." Lucas said and gripped his hands tightly.
Lucas sat in the living room, waiting as he heard movement and bustling from Devon in the kitchen. He wanted to go see what he was doing there, but he was a bit too shy to do so.
'What if he considers me a nuisance? What if he thinks I'm clingy? What if...?' he squinted his eyes as he bit his lips. The thoughts flowing in his head weren't good ones.
Then, he decided to stop thinking about going to the kitchen and just stared around the living room, particularly the TV Devon had turned on for his entertainment.
Even if their relationship was meant to start out small, he wanted to know things about Devon because, as of now, he knew little or nothing about him.
Would it be okay, though?
Devon seemed like the secretive type. The kind who wouldn't disclose much about himself unless he really wanted to.
Just like how he took him to his condo and revealed he was actually rich of his own accord without even having to brag about it.
'Maybe it should be fine.' Lucas thought.
Mustering up courage, he got up and decided to head for the kitchen. The sweet and delicious aroma coming from the kitchen was enough to make him salivate and it was at that moment that he knew how great Devon was.
"Oh, look who came to join me." Devon said as he stirred the sauce in the pan, looking over his shoulder at Lucas. "Did you come to spectate or lend a hand? I'd like to think it's the former."
"I... I came to lend a hand, boss." Lucas said, quite nervously but as he said that, the atmosphere in the kitchen suddenly got weird.
Devon turned off the cooker as he turned to Lucas with a smirk.
"We are off work, Lucas. There is no need for you to address me as boss. Okay?" Devon said as Lucas stared at him for a while before nodding.
"Okay, but then what should I call you?" Lucas asked.
"Hm, that's odd. Didn't I introduce myself to you already?" Devon asked and Lucas gulped. "Call me by my name, Lucas. We aren't employer and employee right now. We're on a date..." He inched closer, his voice low and seductive. "We're at my house."
Lucas felt his whole body go soft with how Devon was speaking.
"A.. alright." Lucas said, twiddling his thumb and finally decided to call it. "I'll call you by your name."
"And what is my name?" Devon teased him further. "What are you going to call me?"
His lips were very close to Lucas's ear, breathing softly on them and making Lucas react like a cornered bunny. It was a cute reaction. But what was even cuter was how red his neck had gotten.
He could see his veins pulsating and his blood running hot.
It made him lick his lips, wanting to just take a dip at his neck and taste that marvelous blood of his.
"Devon." Lucas called softly, and Devon snapped out of his lost state, turning his face to look at Lucas, whose face was blushing with a soft pink hue. "I'll call you Devon when we're not at work."
Devon's lips curled up in a grin, but it soon turned into a bright smile, and he clasped his hands together.
"Excellent. Now try not to forget what you just said." He said.
Devon's name had never sounded so pretty coming from the lips of an innocent human such as Lucas.
Devon chuckled as he turned back to what he was doing, finally giving room for Lucas to catch his breath.
Lucas looked around the kitchen, noticing Devon hadn't started preparing the main dish but was just busy prepping.
While Devon was busy cooking, Lucas helped by passing him things he needed, along with the chopping, slicing, and washing of the stuff they needed.
After an hour or two, dinner was ready. Devon went upstairs to shower as Lucas was left alone in the dining room.
He stared at the little dish in front of him with a warm heart. He didn't think too much about it as he just waited for Devon to come back downstairs.
