After telling the competitors to go back to work on this and that, Devon signalled Lucas to follow him to the employee's room only.
"Why are you late? And why do you look like you didn't have enough sleep tonight as well?" Devon asked, swiping Lucas's hair back with a concerned look on his face. "Are you okay, Lucas?" he asked worriedly and took Lucas's hands in his.
Lucas stared into Devon's eyes as he sighed tiredly.
"I'm sorry boss, I've been having weird dreams lately, that's why I always look so out of it."
Lucas answered quite nervously.
"Dreams?" Devon asked, hoping for a little specific detail.
"Well, it should be more like nightmares." Lucas said, hoping to laugh it off somehow, but Devon wanted to know more.
"Lucas," he closed in the space between them, his hand caressing Lucas's face and enticing him with his sweet smile. "I'm worried about you so don't keep it to yourself. If anything is troubling you. Of course, you can tell me about it."
His concern and assurance were so soft and sweet that they melted Lucas's already racing heart.
They were so close in distance, and he felt a bit out of control.
What could he do? He didn't want Devon to worry about him. He was already caring so much about him.
"They were mostly dark and hidden creatures chasing me." He began. "I think it started a week or two ago and I got these nightmares at random intervals. They..." his air got caught as he felt he couldn't speak too much. He pressed his lips together, holding his sweaty hands lightly together and added. "I couldn't see their faces and wasn't even sure they were human, but I know two things after last night's nightmare."
"They are?"
"They have red eyes and want my blood." Just saying it made goosebumps rise on Lucas's skin. It was frightening.
Devon frowned at his words but said little or nothing about them. He had an inkling, but he would leave it at that first and get rid of the anxiety his little, delicious worker was having.
"I know this can be hard but don't focus on that, okay? The more you think of it, the more it doesn't make sense and you'll end up doubting yourself, distracting yourself, even."
Lucas bit his lips.
"Alright then. I need you here and you need to focus." Devon said as he lifted Lucas's chin up, making him look at Devon as his eyes trailed to his lips. "Then, shall we do something to help you feel better and take your mind off all that?" He asked, his lips curling up seductively.
"W-what are you doing, boss?" Lucas couldn't help but stutter, but he was immediately shut up with a kiss.
Devon claimed Lucas's lips lightly but fiercely as his hand found their way around Lucas's waist, pulling him closer.
By the time Devon broke the kiss, Lucas was the only one out of breath with Devon staring at him like he were a prey struggling in vain in front of a predator. It was adorable.
Devon swiped his thumb against Lucas's lower lips as he smiled, once again retaining that innocent appeal he used to charm Lucas.
"I told you we could go slow. How about dinner after today's event?" Devon asked as he ran his eyes along the veiny lines on Lucas's neck.
He had a plan. He was going to dig his fangs into this little puppy tonight. The thought of it got him excited.
Should we prepare other things? He would need a rope and blind fold and... He smirked. Haha, if he was that prepared, where would the fun be?
It would be much more fun to improvise at the last minute.
"T-that sounds nice." Lucas said as he blushed. His heart was beating fast against his rib cage. Devon was so handsome when he smiled like that. It looked different from his usual smile. It looked like he was 'hunting' for him but that was even more so exhilarating that it made his blood boil in his veins.
Was he into things like this? He had no idea since he never dated but... Would Devon think he was a creep?
Devon arranged his shirt as he walked out of the employees room only, giving Lucas's ass a nice smack before he left.
Lucas was stunned and he stood there, his face flushing from embarrassment.
He had no idea Devon was into such things either.
Then, he wouldn't think he was a creep, right?
Come to think of it, he didn't know Devon's preferences. Was it really okay that he agreed to move on with things with him?
The rest of the day was busy for both Lucas and Devon as they were moving up and down, helping kids with the functions of the equipment used to make coffee, marketing strategies, and so much more.
By the time the students left, Lucas was out of breath. He sipped his glass of cold water as he looked around. The stars outside were bright and a lot, he smiled softly as he felt someone's breath fanning his neck.
"It's nice that you decided to wait." Devon said. He surprised Lucas with a kiss on his neck, making him shudder as he turned to face Devon.
"You... You said we'd have dinner, so it's natural that I'd..." he lowered his gaze a bit as he blushes. "...wait."
"Yes, yes. I assume it's the normal protocol." Devon said as he laughed gently. "So, would you have waited even if we ended up closing midnight?" He asked.
"I... I'd do anything for you, boss." Lucas said with a blush on his cheek as he stood up.
Devon grabbed his jacket as both of them left the cafe hand in hand to Devon's car, which they used to get to the place Devon had picked for the date.
Lucas was surprised as they pulled into a large, shining condominium, and Devon smirked at Lucas's wide eyes.
"Welcome to my place, Lucas."
