Chapter 21 - Please Eve

Roman's eyes locked onto Eve's, his gaze intense. "Eve, I need your help. My body was kept in Meta City Hospital. If you could somehow get access to my medical records and talk to the doctors, maybe we can figure out a way to...to reverse the sedation."

Eve's mind was racing. She was a doctor, but she wasn't sure if she could pull off something like this without raising suspicions. "Roman, I'm not sure if I can do this. It's a big risk."

"Please, Eve. You're my only hope. If you can get to the hospital and talk to my doctor, Dr. Lee, maybe she can help me. I've been trapped in this...this limbo for so long. I need to wake up, Eve."

Eve's heart ached for Roman. She couldn't imagine what he must be going through. "Okay, Roman. I'll try. But I need to know more about Dr. Lee and what's been going on with your treatment."

Roman nodded, his eyes filling with determination. "Dr. Lee is a good doctor, but she's been compromised by Victoria. She's been following Victoria's orders, keeping me sedated. But if you can get to her, maybe she'll listen to you."

Eve nodded, her mind racing with possibilities. "Okay, I'll see what I can do. But first, let me get some details. What's my role supposed to be in all this?"

Roman thought for a moment. "You need to be my doctor in charge. If you can pose as my attending physician, you might be able to get access to my medical records and talk to Dr. Lee without raising suspicions."

Eve's eyes widened. "That's a big risk, Roman. If I get caught, it could ruin my career."

Roman's gaze was steady. "I know, Eve. But I'm running out of options. Please, trust me. I need you to do this for me."

Eve took a deep breath. She couldn't believe she was considering this, but something about Roman's desperation resonated with her. "Okay, Roman. I'll do it. But you need to tell me everything you know about Dr. Lee and the hospital. And we need to come up with a plan to get you out of there without anyone noticing."

Roman's face lit up with hope. "Thank you, Eve. I won't forget this. Let's get to work."

As they started brainstorming, Eve's phone suddenly buzzed. She glanced at the screen and her eyes widened in alarm. "Oh no, I'm so late for work! I need to go."

Roman's face fell, but he nodded understandingly. "Go, Eve. I'll be here. Just be careful. Victoria will stop at nothing to keep me hidden."

Eve quickly gathered her things and rushed out of the house, her mind racing with the plan they had just hatched. She couldn't believe what she was getting herself into, but something about Roman's story had touched her heart. She was strong willed to help him, no matter the risks.

As she rushed to the hospital, Eve's thoughts were consumed by Roman's story. She couldn't wait to get to the hospital and start digging into his medical records. She was determined to uncover the truth and help Roman wake up from his long, dark sleep.

When she arrived at the hospital, Eve quickly changed into her scrubs and made her way to the ICU. She was hell bent on finding Dr. Lee and start asking questions. As she walked down the hallway, she felt a sense of trepidation. What if she got caught? What if Dr. Lee wasn't willing to cooperate?

Despite her doubts, Eve pressed on. She wanted to help Roman, no matter what it took. She took a deep breath and pushed open the door to the ICU, ready to face whatever lay ahead.

As she entered the unit, Eve spotted Dr. Lee standing at the nurses' station. She took a deep breath and approached her, trying to look confident and composed. "Dr. Lee, I'm Dr. Eve. I've been assigned to Roman Sterling's case. Can we talk about his treatment plan?"

Dr. Lee looked up from her notes, a hint of curiosity in her eyes. "Ah, Dr. Eve. Let's talk in my office."

Eve followed Dr. Lee to her office, her heart pounding in her chest. This was it. This was the moment of truth. She was about to embark on a journey that would change everything.

As they sat down in Dr. Lee's office, Eve took a deep breath. "Dr. Lee, I need to know everything about Roman's condition. What's been done to him, and what can we do to help him recover?"

Dr. Lee's expression turned skeptical as she looked at Eve's ID badge. "I'm sorry, Dr...Eve, is it? I'm not sure I've been informed about a new doctor being assigned to Roman's case."

Eve's heart skipped a beat as she realized she might not have been convincing enough. "Oh, I apologize for the confusion. I was just assigned to Roman's case yesterday. Perhaps there's been a miscommunication."

Dr. Lee's eyes narrowed slightly. "I see. Well, before I can share any information about Roman's condition with you, I'll need to confirm with Dr. Smith, our department head. He's the one who oversees Roman's care."

Eve's mind racing, she tried to think of a way to convince Dr. Lee to cooperate without arousing more suspicion. "That makes sense. I'd be happy to wait while you confirm with Dr. Smith. Can I wait in your office?"

Dr. Lee nodded, her expression still guarded. "Yes, of course. I'll just need to make a quick call to confirm your assignment."

As Dr. Lee picked up the phone and dialed, Eve's anxiety grew. What if Dr. Smith didn't know about her assignment to Roman's case? What if Victoria had already manipulated the hospital staffs to keep Roman in a coma forever?

Dr. Lee spoke into the phone, her voice low and professional. After a brief conversation, she hung up and turned to Eve. "Dr. Smith is unaware of any new assignment. I'm afraid I'll need to verify your credentials with the hospital administration before I can share any information about Roman's condition with you."

Eve's heart sank, but she tried to remain calm. She knew she had to think fast and come up with a plan to convince Dr. Lee and the hospital staff that she was indeed the new doctor in charge of Roman's case.
