Chapter 11 - Slaughter Without Mercy

Zhao Feng frowned, feeling uncertain about the true function of the Evolution System.

Just as doubt crept into his mind, the white screen flickered, displaying new lines of text:

[Mission: Kill Level-1 Low Tier Monsters (1/20)]

Reward: Flash bang ]

[Mission: Kill Level-1 Mid Tier Monsters (0/10)]

Reward: Skill – Lightning Bolt

[Mission: Kill Level-1 High Tier Monster (0/1)]

Reward: Unlock System Mall Feature]

Zhao Feng's eyes lit up as he saw the missions and their rewards.

Without hesitation, he turned to Ning Yue. "I'm heading out for a bit. Please watch over Xiao Yuyan for me."

He trusted Ning Yue. Annoying at times, sure—but she was reliable. At the very least, neither he nor Xiao Yuyan had ever sensed any danger from her.

...

After Zhao Feng left the infirmary, Ning Yue approached the bed where Xiao Yuyan lay, covered only by a thin blanket.

With a mischievous grin, she slapped Xiao Yuyan's butt, loud and clear.

"Don't pretend to be asleep," she said in a teasing tone.

Xiao Yuyan's eyes shot open, burning with fury. "You pervert! Did you just slap my ass?!"

Ning Yue only smiled, unfazed and unapologetic.

Xiao Yuyan tried to get up to retaliate but hissed in pain, her body trembling slightly.

"Hiss—"

It was her first time... and her body hadn't fully recovered yet.

"Damn it! It still hurts… Help me up, you jerk!" she yelled, clearly flustered.

Wearing a half-concerned, half-playful expression, Ning Yue gently helped her sit up.

...

Meanwhile, on the fifth floor, Zhao Feng stood by a cracked window, overlooking the school courtyard below.

In the center of the field, a swirling blue portal hovered ominously, casting eerie shadows around it.

A pack of large black wolves gathered near the portal. Some sat silently while others licked something off the ground.

Zhao Feng narrowed his eyes. Even from this distance, he could guess what they were eating—human remains.

At the edge of the field, several wolves dragged bodies from the school's other buildings. Some were still alive, barely moving.

Judging by their uniforms, they were students.

A few tried to resist, only to be quickly overpowered.

The wolves tossed their broken bodies into the center of the pack, where younger, more restless wolves waited hungrily.

Zhao Feng held his breath as he saw an injured boy trying to limp away.

His steps were slow and unstable.

A young wolf lunged out, tearing into him and ending his struggle instantly.

A high-pitched scream echoed across the courtyard.

A girl with one leg missing cried out as she crawled through the dirt, her voice filled with desperation.

"Mom… Dad… Help me…"

The voice was abruptly silenced.

Zhao Feng turned his gaze away, jaw clenched tight.

The scene was too cruel to keep watching.

He clenched his fists so hard that his nails pierced his own flesh, drawing blood.

His eyes turned cold, filled with murderous rage.

Now… Zhao Feng finally understood...

This world… is no longer safe.

Author's Note: I apologize to readers who may feel disappointed that I didn't go into explicit detail. To be honest, I had to consider Webnovel's content rules and the comfort of readers, so I toned down the brutality.

Zhao Feng wasn't interested in watching any more of the carnage.

He turned and began descending to the fourth floor of the school building.

He had made up his mind. He would at least kill 19 more wolves and complete one of the system missions.

Zhao Feng gripped his Liuyedao Stormblade tightly as he made his way downstairs. The blade radiated a sharp, menacing aura.

His steps were steady, his sharp gaze sweeping across the dim hallway.

A large wolf was asleep near the stairs, its belly rising and falling slowly.

Zhao Feng didn't say a word.

His body became a flash of lightning.

ZRAK!

In an instant, the wolf's head was severed, rolling across the floor before hitting the wall.

Blood sprayed wildly, staining Zhao Feng's face and clothes.

Yet his eyes remained cold—unmoved, unflinching.

He vanished again, moving like lightning, hunting down the rest of the wolves one by one.

The fourth floor became a killing field.

He moved like a phantom—appearing and disappearing, Stormblade slicing mercilessly.

One.

Two.

Three...

Each strike ended with a sharp cry and a headless corpse.

Within five minutes, twelve wolves had died.

Their flesh was strewn across the floor and classrooms of the fourth floor.

Blood dripped from the tip of Zhao Feng's blade.

Still, he didn't stop.

His steps were firm.

His gaze burned with murderous intent.

Today, he was no longer a student or an ordinary worker.

Today, he was an executioner—mercilessly hunting monsters.
