After reviving from his mother's 'breath-taking' hug, he had a good night's sleep before waking up early the next day. While normally, he never cared about appearances and all, no one ever wanted to leave a bad impression on your peers, whether in school or after.
With determination not to sully the reputation of his family, Akira freshened up in the bathroom before changing his clothes. His mother had wanted Akira to wear a ridiculous pink outfit, but he simply refused to wear that. Instead, he picked out some clothes out from his closet to make a presentable fit.
Akira now wore a white shirt, with a buttoned collar and long, black pants. Over the shirt was a beautiful haori in a shade of cornflower blue, with golden floral patterns sprawled over the bottom. It was a gift from his late grandfather for his fifth birthday, and as a final parting gift, Akira treasured it greatly. His platinum blonde hair was combed back neatly, with two long strands framing his face, making his light brown eyes stand out. The last part to his attire was a pair of sandals the same shade as his haori, this time a present from his grandmother, Uzumaki Mito, and white wrappings around his arms and legs.
After checking himself in the mirror multiple times, assuring that he was ready. So Akira went out into the living room, where his sister and mother were waiting for him already. His father was out on a mission so he couldn't see Akira off today.
"Wow pretty boy, all dressed up today, huh?" Tsunade snickered from the side.
"I could say the same to you mademoiselle." Akira shot back playfully.
He wasn't lying though, Tsunade really did look pretty today. She was wearing a grey mesh shirt and over it a teal-coloured kimono with short sleeves and red-lining around the collars which she secured with a blue sash. She also wore red wristbands and white wrapping over her calves with blue sandals. Her hair was up in a high ponytail with two shoulder-length bangs, which, like Akira's, framed her fair face.
With a eyeroll, they said their goodbyes and went on their way to the academy. They were bickering the entire time, though the walk wasn't even that long, only fifteen minutes, Akira still managed to argue about three things in total.
When they finally reached the academy gates after what felt like an eternity, it seemed that they were one of the last ones. Still continuing their endless bickering, the two found their way to the elite classroom where they would be studying in until they graduated.
The moment they entered the door, all eyes were on them, but Akira and Tsunade remained oblivious, still arguing about pointless things.
"No, I'm telling you - chicken should never be fried - they should only be steamed!"
"What? Are you kidding me? Fried chicken is obviou-" only then did they realise all eyes were on them.
All twenty-six pairs of eyes. Their entrance was certainly a spectacle for both the instructor at the front roll calling, and the other children sitting at their seats. The Senju 'prince' and 'princess' awkwardly bowed and said simultaneously, "Sorry sensei! We -uh- we saw a chicken drowning so we helped it?"
Then they shot glares at each other, wondering why they would make such a weird excuse to give their teacher. With a sigh, he shook his head and sternly scolded, "It's only your first days so I'll let it slide this time. Just don't do it again."
The twins nodded and hurried to the only two seats left, right beside each other. Akira looked around the classroom and saw a few who he recongnised. There was Orochimaru, an Uchiha boy whose name he did not know, but was very arrogant and liked picking fights, some other children Akira saw around the village, and a certain perverted blockhead.
Seeing his white hair and overall appearance, Akira couldn't help but remember a meme he saw once before in his previous life; Tsunade looked like twenty in her fifties, Orochimaru looked like twenty in his fifties, and Jiraiya looked like fifty since he was a child.
He couldn't help but think it was actually quite true. Anyways, after the roll call finished, their sensei, named Nakama Chiasa, a elite chunin, asked everyone for introductions. It was pretty boring in Akira's opinion, with the either the classic 'I want to be Hokage' or sometimes a more general, 'I want to be the strongest'.
When it was Akira's turn, he stood up and introduced himself, "Hai! My name is Senju Akira, and my dream is to protect my loved ones."
Only now did everyone properly see his face. The girls, in particular, thought he was quite cute, with his blonde hair complementing his brown eyes exceptionally well. Some even blushed slightly, but Akira took no notice of this. Girls often liked a boy just because they were cute or handsome, and he had to admit, of all the Senju he knew, they were all rather good-looking, like the Uchiha.
Nakama nodded slowly, "Very good Akira. That's an honourable dream you have."
"Thank you Nakama-sensei!"
When everyone was introduced, and a few crushes were developed *cough cough*, their sensei explained what the school year's curriculum was going to be.
"Normal classes would only teach the basic three jutsu, some taijutsu moves and other basic skills. This class, however, is the elite class, and will cover a lot more than just those. Everyone here is in this class because of their exceptionally excellent performance in the exam, so you will be taught more in depth.
And it is because of this, everyone is expected to prove their worth as ninja, civilian or clan-born. So I hope everyone can do their best in their training and studying!"
After his little speech, the first term's curriculum and all the rules and regulations were explained. There was still some time, so Chiasa decided to have a little friendly competition. But if he knew the two Senju 'royalty' would make it anything but 'friendly', he would have discarded the idea before he even thought of it.
"Hmm, since there's still time before the day ends, let's have a friendly competition!"
Akira and Tsunade's faces dulled and zoned out at the words 'friendly', but at the words 'competition', they have never been so excited in their lives. They lit up and looked at each other with a expression that screamed 'we'll settle our unfinished business now'.
"It will be a simple spar with only taijutsu and no ninjutsu and genjutsu. Since you are all new students, it is fine if you forfeit, but I advise you not to do so."
Tsunade and Akira would never refuse, as long as they got to fight. In any case, the matches were made from paper slips drawn from a box. But it seemed that Lady Luck was frowning upon the two siblings that day, as they weren't in the same match.
Akira noticed something else though, it appeared that he and Jiraiya were going to fight in the second match. And with a twist of luck, Tsunade and Orochimaru were in the third match. The first match was between two Uchiha.
Uchiha Minoru vs Uchiha Yudai
Uchiha Yudai was the arrogant boy who enjoyed bossing people around. It wouldn't be a lie to say he looked down on everyone outside the Uchiha clan. He had the distinct Uchiha black hair with obsidian eyes and pale skin. Yudai was the grandson of an elder, and ever since Madara had left the clan, this one elder had been second in command after the clan leader, causing him to develop a superiority complex.
Uchiha Minoru was another fellow clansmen, with a feminine face and the usual Uchiha hair and eyes. His personality was vastly different from Yudai's; reserved, quiet, deadly. He was quite strong though, if Akira was being honest.
When their names were drawn as the first match, excitement and anticipation was in the air. Many wondered who would win, but Akira and Tsunade, being natural sensors, were certain that Minoru was going to defeat Yudai with a clear win.
"Ha! Of course I'm going to win! This cowardly disgrace to the Uchiha will never win against me!"
Akira mentally cringed at this. There wasn't even a battle needed to tell who would win, whether in pure taijutsu, ninjutsu, genjutsu, or even kenjutsu. Yudai clearly had only fought battles with civilian children, so he had no real battle experience. Minoru on the other hand, had probably fought with some seasoned ninja before, so the difference was a clear as day.
Who would win was already decided, unless Yudai had miraculous luck, and Minoru forfeited. So Akira tuned out all the sounds in the background as white noise until his name was called. The fight was over as soon as it started, so it didn't take too long until the next match started.
The fight?
