Chapter 23 - 'Chaos-chan, let's go on an adventure!'

As David was putting the snacks and drinks away, Marin took a seat on an the couch she and Yoruichi had been sitting on previously.

Isane and Rangiku took a seat on another couch nearby under Marin's playful gaze.

Once everyone was seated, Marin sat up straight and raised her hand excitedly.

"Okay, I'll go first~! My name is Marin Kitagawa. I'm David's first lover and I'm a half-human, half-kitsune now! I'll be going to the same school that David goes to next week. My hobbies are watching anime with cute girls and playing certain eroges~! I have an interest in cosplay and I really want to fight some monsters~!"

⟪ My wife is too cute, heheh. ⟫

When Marin heard this, her tails started swaying and she blushed hard with a silly smile on her face.

Isane and Rangiku noticed her reaction and looked at each other.

Rangiku waved her hand to try and grab Marin's attention.

When Marin was looking at her, Rangiku pointed to David, then to her mouth, then to her head.

How could Marin not understand?

She immediately nodded vigorously and Rangiku gave an amused and excited smile.

Marin was also excited and looked down at Yoruichi as if to say, "Heheh~, see? I was right, they can also hear it!"

Yoruichi rolled her eyes, but didn't say anything.

[Yoruichi] 'Well, I suppose they already know who I am then. They should also know that Urahara was framed, but I'll still keep silent until David is gone.'

"Anyway, nice to meet you two~! I'm sure we'll get along really well in the future, heheh~!" Marin said before relaxing her posture.

Rangiku just raised her hand before speaking. "Nice to meet you, Marin~! I'm Rangiku Matsumoto, Lieutenant of the 10th Division in the Gotei 13. I was sent to observe David, but if I'm being honest, I just want to have fun, haha~! My hobbies and interests both involve shopping and drinking!"

Isane stood up with her hands clasped in front of her and bowed slightly. "Nice to meet you as well, Marin. My name is Isane Kotetsu, Lieutenant of the 4th Division. I was sent along with Lieutenant Rangiku in case anything went wrong as I specialize in healing and support. I enjoy sleeping and reading."

Isane sat back down with a serene aura around her.

⟪ Gosh, Isane is so quiet and graceful. She's the kind of woman you'd want to keep around you all the time just for the comfort her presence provides. ⟫

The grey-haired woman in question just blushed, feeling embarrassed for the sudden praise.

"I see, I see~! So what do you two plan on doing while you're here and how long do you plan to stay? I'm not against it at all, just curious~."

Rangiku held her chin while thinking before she responded a few seconds later.

"Hmm~... I'm not really too sure. I didn't expect it to go so smoothly, but I'd figure we could just stay for at least a few days before heading back and saying there's nothing wrong. I can already tell what kind of person David is so there's no need to think of him as a threat right now."

Isane interjected. "What Lieutenant Rangiku means to say is that she would prefer to use this time as a vacation."

"Hey~! Don't slander me! I'm a hard-working woman, okay? It's just that this observation duty will require relaxing and having fun!" Rangiku harrumphed before laughing at herself.

David quickly finished putting everything away while the girls were talking.

⟪ I should do my lottery draw before leaving for the Dimensional Quest. ⟫

He walked up to the girls and stopped right behind Marin before leaning down and placing his head on her shoulder.

"I'll be heading upstairs for a moment, okay? I'll be back soon."

He placed a quick kiss on Marin's cheek before standing up and tousling her hair and heading upstairs.

Marin giggled and just nodded her head before engaging in idle chatter with Rangiku and Isane.

As David arrived upstairs, he quickly entered his bedroom and laid down on the bed.

[You know you don't have to lie down to begin the quest, right?]

'I know, but it feels nice, okay? Anyway, can I draw the daily lottery now since it's past midnight?'

[Sure thing!]

The prize wheel appeared again this time and without hesitation, David spun it.

The wheel spun while making the clicking sound of the pointer hitting the pegs on the outside of the wheel for ten seconds before finally slowing down and stopping on a gold segment.

[...]

⟪ Heheheh... ⟫

[Congratulations! You have received Ability: Sovereign's Cradle (Inspired by 'Country Building Story in Another World with the Pioneering Village in His Palm')!]

[Ability: Sovereign's Cradle]

[Description: Who needs a house when you can own a whole damn dimension? Sovereign's Cradle is your personal micro-world: a living kingdom that grows with you. Start with a sad patch of dirt and build it into a thriving city of magic, monsters, and maybe a few hot residents who call you king. Customize everything, harvest rare resources, and use it as a base, battlefield, or an Empress Sanctuary.]

[Effect: Grants access to a private dimension that evolves when you complete certain quests. You can shape the terrain, construct buildings, farm materials, and invite allies or rescued heroines to live inside. If someone hostile and weaker than you enters, you can forcibly bind their loyalty (optional). The Cradle doubles as a death-escape, teleporting you inside when you're about to die. Quest upgrades include permanent gate creations, summonable city zones, and even reality-warping domain laws.]

Before David could comment on what he just got, he felt a warm feeling surge in his chest before he felt it being forcefully dissipated.

'Chaos-chan? Why does it feel like I just lost something?'

[I was waiting for that to happen, I just figured it would've happened sooner. When I was integrating with your soul over the years, I had given you as much luck as possible that could affect your lottery draws. Drawing something this good definitely drained it.]

'So I'm not going to get good draws anymore, is that what you're saying?'

[Yeah, pretty much. It'll be incredibly rare if you do and you'd just have to rely on the quality-guaranteed draws you get as rewards for anything really good.]

'Hmm... Well, I suppose it's only fair. I feel like I've been getting things handed to me too easily.'

[It's fine, all of the things you've gotten have been helpful. I expected you to get a few other things before getting the Sovereign's Cradle, but it seems I gave you more luck than I thought. Your new ability can take on a variety of different evolution paths, but knowing the place you'll be going for your Dimensional Quest, I have a strong feeling you're still going to get lucky and choose the best one.]

David furrowed his brows.

'What do you mean?'

[You'll find out, heheh~. Anyway, do you want to receive your new ability now?]

'Yes!'

David was excited to see what he could do with this new ability.

[Got it!]

Right after that, David's soul underwent another change. He could feel it inside him, a new dimension he had full control over.

With just a thought, he could transport himself into the Sovereign's Cradle.

And so he did.

Instead of laying in his soft and comfy bed, he was now laying in a patch of dirt.

Looking around, all he saw was an endless white expanse and beneath him was a 10 meter x 10 meter plot of land. Calling it dirt would be rude as this was dark and very fertile soil.

⟪ Whoa... This is pretty sweet! There's not much here, but it's my own dimension! ⟫

'Wait, can they still hear me even though I'm in another dimension?

[Yes. While it's called another dimension, it's pretty much just a different plane of existence that can link to other dimensions.]

'Eh?'

[Hmm... You can access the Sovereign's Cradle anywhere you want since it resides inside of your soul, but the Sovereign's Cradle can access any dimension if you create a Gate there. The Sovereign's Cradle isn't upgraded enough to give you the option to create Gates though so you don't need to worry about it for now.]

'...'

[Look, just think of the Sovereign's Cradle as both a separate dimension for you to control as well as a dimensional nexus that can link anywhere and everywhere. Wanna create a Gate in Kyoto? You can do that. Wanna create a Gate in a world you go to for a Dimensional Quest? You can do that, too.]

[This has a lot of potential, but you don't need to think too hard about it right now.]

'Got it.'

David willed it and he was back in his bed.

⟪ Having a pocket dimension is pretty handy. I can tell that with its current level, only I can enter it. I'm sure that in the near future, I'll be able to allow more people to enter. Heheh, I can already imagine a ton of fun things I could do with it. ⟫

⟪ Alright, enough waiting. I've been curious about these Dimensional Quests for a while now so let's do it! ⟫

'Chaos-chan, let's go on an adventure!'

[You got it!]

[Initiating Time Halt...]

David felt the atmosphere start to turn weird and slow down.

[Preparing Dimensional Transfer...]

The space around him began to slowly twist and warp.

[3... 2... 1...]

[Time Halted...]

Everything around David was frozen.

[Transferring Dimensions...]

Suddenly, David was sucked into a wormhole and disappeared from his bed.

[Enjoy your quest and have fun!]

Flying through what looked like a colorful tunnel of bright lights and stars, David heard the automated version of Chaos-chan's voice giving its well wishes.

After what felt like only a few minutes, David found himself laying on the ground in what looked like a barren rocky wasteland.

[Entrance Reward Acquired!]

[Congratulations! You have earned Ability: Sakai (Inspired by 'Tsukimichi - Moonlit Fantasy -')!]

[Ability: Sakai]

[Description: You ever want to flex so hard on the world that your aura becomes its own cheat code? Sakai ain't magic, it's presence turned into power. It's like flipping on your own personal domain that bends to your will. Scan an area, boost your body, intercept telepathy, or even patch up your teammates—this field does it all.]

[Effect: Generates a multi-function field that surrounds the user and can be freely adjusted in size, intensity, and function. Effects can be layered or swapped instantly without chanting. Functions include:

- Perception: Detects lifeforms, mana signatures, and spiritual pressure within range. You can zoom in or out mentally like a divine radar.

- Strengthening: While active, massively enhances your physical stats—speed, reflexes, strength, endurance—just by existing inside your own field.

- Healing: Heals wounds for anyone inside the field with a speed and efficiency dependent on their power. Can't regrow limbs, but it's basically an auto-heal aura. Doesn't work on yourself.

- Barrier: Generates an invisible shield around your field that can tank damage like a champ. It stacks with other defense abilities too.

- Concealment: Suppresses all magical detection and spiritual presence inside the field, making you and your allies ghosts to anyone watching.

- Interceptor: Picks up on mental transmissions (like telepathy) happening inside the range and lets you eavesdrop like a boss. You can even cut them off if you want.]

[Note: The field runs off your total energy with a very low cost. The bigger the range, the more energy it burns. Works beautifully with stealth and team support builds. Bonus points if you pretend you're not even trying.]

[Reward automatically being applied!]

For the second time in such a short timespan, David felt his body heating up again, but it wasn't painful and he didn't bleed anywhere.

After a couple of minutes, the heat died down and David stood up.

'Whoa... This is awesome! I know everything about this Sakai ability and it's almost just like Makoto's in the original!'

[Indeed, it's a really good ability. Would you like to review the quest objectives?]

'Sure!'

[Primary Objective(s):

- Rescue the Highland Orc Tribe

Demons are masquerading as the dragon Shin to terrorize the orcs. Expose and defeat them, earning the tribe's loyalty and Tomoe's attention.

- Save the Rembrandt Sisters

Similar to the original plot, the sisters are afflicted by a magical curse. You can earn the Rembrandt family's gratitude—and possibly a new ally or heroine—by curing them and confronting the parties involved.

- "Fix" Tomoki Iwahashi

Tomoki is a corrupted hero who misuses his charm ability. Humble him through battle, charisma, or emotional impact—changing or replacing him as the world's chosen hero.]

[Optional Objective(s):

- Flirt with Mio Without Getting Eaten

Charm her without becoming a snack (literally), and maybe earn her loyalty.

- Outsass the Goddess Bug

Verbally outplay her in a divine argument, cause her to ragequit a conversation, or make her accidentally gift you something out of spite.

- Set Up Makoto with a Girlfriend

Help the poor guy sort out his love life by giving him wingman support.

- Intercept Tomoe's Drama Addiction

Introduce her to modern anime or movies through memory-sharing or illusions. Get her hooked, earn big favor, and maybe make her cosplay.]

David reviewed the content of his quest and thought about which things to tackle first.

'Hmm, it seems easiest to just go in order of the objectives. I take it Makoto has yet to arrive, right?'

[Yes, Makoto will not arrive for a few more hours. He will drop from the sky a few days from your location, meaning you're already fairly close to the Highland Orc tribe.]

'Sweet. I'll take it from here then, heheh.'

Recalling the events of what happened in the anime, David decided to search for the group of demons hidden around the torii gate that Makoto destroyed.

'Might as well try to get the one of the optional objectives out of the way first while starting on the first primary one.'

David expanded his Sakai out as far as he could, only to be hit with a massive backlash of information.

"Whoa!"

He quickly retracted his Sakai and held his head in pain, feeling dizzy from the sharp headache that suddenly assaulted him.

'Dammit, what the hell was that? I thought the details of things got blurrier the further out I tried to sense, not become crystal-fucking-clear?!'

[Your Sakai uses your total energy which includes your Reiryoku. ]

'Is my energy really that massive?'

[Yes. Your mana pool is already extremely massive, reaching the capacity of a god, and your Reiryoku is larger than Ichigo's was at the end of the series.]

'...How strong was he at the end of the series again...?'

[Haaa... Strong enough to kill a god-tier threat like Yhwach.]

'Ah. I remember the names and events, but don't really recall the power scaling of most things aside from a few things I read from the wiki.'

[Why am I not surprised? Listen, David... The only reason you can't easily obliterate planets right now is because the runes you created have an extremely high mana cost. If you could learn the magic from this world, your destructive prowess and arsenal would seriously increase.]

'I see... Well, first things first: I gotta get used to using Sakai. I can tell this thing is going to be stupidly overpowered with my current energy levels.'

Once again, David expanded his Sakai, but this time he did it slowly.

Every few hundred meters, he would stop expanding and take everything in, processing all of the information he was receiving, before continuing his Sakai expansion.

When the radius was at 40km, David felt that this was his range limit if he isn't truly focused on expanding it further.

After David found his limits, he started to search the area within, starting from his current location and working his way out.

Surprisingly, he found both the torii gate he was looking for as well as the Highland Orc tribe's village.

He was 2km away from the village and 3km away from the torii gate.

'Hm, they're closer than I thought they'd be.'

Deciding to stick to his previous plan, David made his way to the torii gate at a casual pace.

After walking at 6km/h, it only took him around thirty minutes to arrive.

David didn't go up directly and instead used his Sakai once again to search for the demons in hiding.

Almost instantly, he detected several demons hiding near the torii gate.

'Let's try some hand-to-hand combat.'

David walked closer to the area until he was right in the center of the demons.

With his Sakai still expanded to cover the area the demons were in, he created Projection runes throughout the area and set them to broadcast his voice.

'Whoa, combining my runes with my Sakai is amazing. I can already feel the simple Projection runes being greatly amplified!'

[Yeah, that's a pretty sick power.]

With his runes in place, David cleared his throat and began speaking.

"Ahem! All seven of you demons in hiding, come out and take your beating. I won't let you disturb the orcs any longer!"

'Heheh, I sounded cool, right?'

[...]

'...Sigh...'

The demons didn't move, but David could sense that their heartrate had increased.

"I want to practice my hand-to-hand combat, come on. I could easily just set you all on fire, but I'm being nice, okay?"

Still, the demons didn't respond.

'Are they stupid or just stubborn?'

David started to get irritated and sighed. "Haaa... Okay then..."

Using an assortment of runes such as Gravity, Fire, Amplification, Motion, and a couple others, David created a few simple spells.

Using those spells, he forced two of the blue-skinned demons to start floating in the sky.

"AH! WHAT IS THIS?! STOP!"

"LET ME GO! I'M AFRAID OF HEIGHTS!"

That last guy almost caused David to chuckle, but he held it in. After all, he had to look somewhat cool, right?

Once the two demons were floating ten meters in front of David and six meters above ground, they started to rotate in place, allowing everyone in hiding to see them.

Then suddenly, starting from their feet, a black flame sprouted, causing immense pain and burning them from bottom to top very quickly.

"AGHHHHHHH!"

"NOOOO!!! STOOOOP!!!"

The demons were howling and screaming in agony as their senses were all heavily amplified, feeling every excruciating moment.

Within just a few seconds, the demons that were in the air had turned into ashes, spreading the smell of burnt flesh throughout the area.

"Normally, I wouldn't bother with small fry like you guys, but I just remembered that you killed multiple innocent young females from the orc tribe, disguising them as sacrifices for their crops to grow..."

The demons started to stand up and glare at David as they all grouped up together.

"If there's one thing that really pisses me off, it's when innocent young women die for no reason."

[Chaos-chan] 'Ah, he actually managed to piss himself off by remembering the plotline... Should I be impressed or baffled?'

One of the demons took the lead and spoke up, standing about twenty meters away from David.

"Hahaha, so what?! It was an easy way to subjugate the orcs. It's easy to use the Shin's name to do such a thing. You coming here is just sentencing yourself to death!"

"..."

'Did they totally forget what I just did to their friends so effortlessly?'

Since they showed up, David took this chance to see how strong he was physically without amplifying his strength using his runes or Sakai.

He rushed forward and arrived in front of the first demon in a single second.

His fist shot forward and landed on the demon's face without giving him a moment to react.

David swung with all his unamplified might and expected to see the demon's body go flying back, but...

SPLORTCH!

The demon's head exploded, resembling a watermelon getting split open.

David stared at the demon's headless corpse and then looked down at his fist.

"Um... I actually wanted to fight him," he said as he looked at the demon's companions.

Seeing how effortlessly David killed their group leader, the demons turned and started to run away.

"Dammit, this is what I get for getting too carried away... Whatever, I have a beautiful dragon to meet and shouldn't delay things."

David kicked off the ground again and rushed at the fleeing demons.

With each demon he passed by, he would punch out and pop another melon.

After the four runaways died, David used a simple cleaning spell to get rid of the blood all over him.

Before beginning his meeting with one of his favorite dragons, David wanted to create a spell that could block his system-related memories from being read, but Chaos-chan was way ahead of him.

[Don't worry, you won't need a spell for that. The system has a built-in firewall that protects from things like that so you can do your thing without worrying.]

'Ohhh~! That's awesome!'

Feeling confident, David took a moment to conjure up a big explosive fireball and launched it straight at the torii gate nearby.

BOOOOOM!!!

The torii gate exploded into pieces while David just stood there, waiting...

A few seconds after the debris settled, a blood red mist settled around David.

CRASH!

RUMBLE!

In front of David, a large and blue Eastern dragon with a mouth that could easily swallow him whole appeared, staring down at him with menacing red eyes.

⟪ Ahhh, here we go! One of my favorite dragon wives! ⟫

Before David could say anything first, the dragon lunged down at him, snapping its jaws shut as it tried to bite him.

Using his Sakai to see through the mist, David jumped out of the way with ease, feeling immense joy at fighting with an actual dragon.

⟪ Ohhh~! This is fun! My first time fighting a dragon and it's my future wife! ⟫

The dragon, who could hear a man's voice in her head, was confused.

[Dragon] 'Is he talking to me? No, his tone of voice sounds more like he's conversing with himself.'

The dragon turned around swiftly and lunged once more, but this time, David simply sidestepped, causing the dragon to barely miss.

David threw a punch and hit the dragon on the side of the face, causing her to get thrown back about ten meters.

"GRAHHH!" The dragon screamed.

[Dragon] 'Pain?!'

⟪ Ah, I'm sorry, future wife! I promise, I won't hit you again in the future! Ah, doesn't that sound like what someone who habitually commits domestic violence would say? Ugh, I hope she doesn't get the wrong idea during this fight. ⟫

[Dragon] 'It's definitely him!'

The dragon recovered from the punch and got up, staring straight at David without moving.

⟪ Eh? Why's she just staring at me? ⟫

Seeing that David wasn't moving his mouth when she heard his voice, she was at a loss for words.

⟪ Hmm, maybe she knows she can't beat me and is waiting for me to speak up? Her memory illusion trick would be easy to break out of so even if she tried to do that sneak attack she did in the original work, I'd be able to get through it easily. She could just read my memories if she wanted, then she'd lose interest in fighting me. We could probably make a contract like she did before if she wanted. ⟫

[Dragon] 'He seems to know my abilities which should be fine, but was does he mean by original work and sneak attack? And I have never formed a contract before! What is this human trying to do?'

David walked closer to the dragon and looked up at her.

"Hey, there. There were some demons using your name to kill innocent orcs, so I wiped a few of them out and decided to wake you up. I won't say too much or make things too complicated, but I will say, if you want to start enjoying a relaxing life full of entertainment, you should read my memories and see what types of entertainment I have hidden away."

⟪ Hopefully she gets attracted by something like 'That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime' and takes a more business-suit approach like Shion. ⟫

The dragon just stared at David for a few seconds longer before nodding her head.

"This better not be a trick, human."

David just laid down on the ground in front of her.

"Don't worry, I'll just lay down right here and let you browse to your heart's content."

He put his hands behind his head and kicked his left leg up over his right, closing his eyes and relaxing.

As David was relaxing, the dragon started pulling out and sifting through various memories from David's head.

She spent some time looking at the memories of his past life and started to feel that David was rather pitiful. Then, she saw that he had died, which confused her.

Once she saw that he was reincarnated, she was shocked. The dragon got fairly bored once she saw that nothing interesting was happening until David was 15.

As soon as he turned 15, a massive amount of information filled his head. Video games, manga, anime, novels, TV shows--wait... TV shows?

The dragon got lost in the 'Franchises' section in David's mental database and rather than becoming obsessed with some fantasy anime or something similar, she did what David wasn't really expecting.

[Dragon] 'Oh?? What is this? I've never seen anything like this! I want to ask him about it... I want to have him tell me about it!'

The dragon spent the next few hours engrossed in watching Japanese period dramas.

When David started to hear what she was watching, he stifled a laugh.

⟪ Okay, I definitely should've expected she'd go for the period dramas again... Even though I've never seen them, I'm glad my mental database contains them. ⟫

David opened his eyes and sat up.

"So? My memories and my world are pretty interesting, right?"

The dragon didn't respond and was still completely focused on what she was watching.

"OI!" David yelled, trying to get her to snap out of it.

She blinked her eyes and looked at David with a look of fervor.

"David-dono! I'll do what you--"

The dragon didn't know what was wrong, but she couldn't finish saying her words. She wanted to say that she'd do what he said in his head and form a contract with him, but she couldn't speak.

After trying one more time, she understood just like the rest of the women who could hear David's inner voice: 'You can hear it, but you can't speak about it.'

Regaining her composure, she tried once more without mentioning David's inner voice.

"My name is Shin. As a greater dragon, I'm considered invincible."

She lowered her posture to get face-to-face with David, then clasped her claws together in a pleading motion.

"David-dono, would you like to enter a contract with me?"
