The teacher asked each group to present their answer. When it was our turn, she nodded thoughtfully and said,"Your answer is quite good—but it's still missing something."
She returned to the front of the classroom and revealed the full truth.
"The group of Acno had the overall best answer. But if we combine it with Jeong's group's answer, we would have the full picture. It depends on your chosen path and the anchoring of your roots. For example, if you were born into a noble family, your roots might contain multiple types of magic—or fewer, depending on your lineage.Let's say you have two roots—support magic and elemental magic. Then the chance of gaining another root is near 0%.But there are items out there that can change that. This first year, the task of every combat subject teacher is to observe how your body reacts to training and whether it adapts to it."
After her explanation, I left the classroom and headed toward the shopping alley. That's where the Shadow of Kano guild is located. It belongs to the brat from class who sits to the left of Lutz. And since I still had time until evening, I figured I'd check it out.
Once I gained entry to the guild, a small woman with red eyes greeted me.She handed me a contract to sign—just formalities. Nothing unusual.
Afterward, she gave me a quick tour of the building:The reception hall is the first room you enter from outside. There are doors to the left and right.
The left door leads to the training room.
The right one takes you to the meeting room—but only for members with high reputation.
But the part that interested me most was the mission board, located to the right of the reception desk.
Once the tour was over, I immediately walked over and started reading the hanging papers:
One mission was about goblins killing animals outside of town.
Another one was a group looking for someone to help with a dungeon raid.
The more I read, the more I felt like I had made a good decision coming here.
On my way back to the dormitory, I stopped at a blacksmith specialized in every kind of sword.I looked at the prices—and walked out faster than a tiger.
You could already tell the sun was setting. The walk to the shopping alley took around thirty minutes, depending on how fast you go.
Once I arrived back at the dorm, I headed to the second floor to my flat.I know my parents wouldn't spend much on me, but this place was average.Could be worse. No complaints.
Time passed. The sky turned a deep blueish-dark.I stepped outside my flat and started observing whether anyone else was leaving theirs.
