Chapter 8 - 8 NIGHTMARES 2

Jennifer snorted, cutting Indie off as she tried to hold in the amusement building up in her.

"Baby girl, you must already be sick of watching horror movies, which I know you're quite a fan of" She chuckled. Indie rolled her eyes; she was wrong about Jennifer, she wasn't any different from her father.

"Never mind" She uttered.

Sensing the intensity of the atmosphere, Jennifer's goofy face turned to a serious one.

"Pardon me girl... but it sounded a bit funny"

"Funny? You think it's funny?"

"No, no, that's not what I mean actually. How you were defining it, it sounded more like a movie" Jennifer winked "You know what I mean".

Indie clicked her tongue in annoyance "You're unbelievable" She rolled her eyes.

Seeing Indie's expression, Jennifer burst out laughing; she loved teasing Indie, as she enjoyed seeing her annoyed.

"TSK, Baby girl, I didn't mean it, I was just kidding, okay?" She teased

Indie gave her an irritated stare and then sipped her coffee once again.

After few seconds of getting no word from her, Jennifer's voice came again, rambling through the calm air.

"Can I hear more about your nightmares? I will be your Joseph for now"

Getting no respond from Indie except a rolled eyes, she spoke up again.

"I'm sorry for laughing initially. I was just carried away by the way you were describing it, this time, I promise, I will be all ears, at least you will stop rolling your eyes at me".

Indie gave her a glance and sighed.

"Ready to listen to my hilarious story?" She asked

"Please will you stop it already? I said I'm all ears now"

"I guess so" Indie muttered with a hint of sarcasm.

"So you mean you were being chased by that thing?"

Indie nodded "Yeah".

"So what happened after that, did it hurt you in anyway?"

A smile played on Indie's lips "I wonder how you started caring all of a sudden"

"Why wouldn't I care? You're my best friend, C'mon! if anything happen to you, whoever freak it might be, have to face my rage" Stated Jennifer with a fisted hands.

Indie chuckled "Nah, nah, not with that one" She said.

"What do you mean?" Asked Jennifer.

"I guess you have no clue on how terrifying that thing was, so creepy beyond imagination"

"What did you say it looked like again?" Asked Jennifer. Indie's gaze fell on her cup of coffee, contemplating on where to start.

"I only got a mere glimpse of his face once, in my other dreams, I wasn't able to see anything but I felt like something was after me, as all I could hear was footsteps. I got scared, with the thought that whatever it was, was coming after my life. I ran as fast as my legs could take me to no destination in precise. The place was dark, all I could see were lifeless trees and something that looks like a thick smoke, or should I call it a fog? It covered the whole the ground" She sighed "The same scenario kept repeating itself in each dream I had, until in one particular dream... I saw his face"

"His...?" asked Jennifer in perplexity.

"Yes" Indie nodded.

"So are you saying the thing was a man?"

"Somewhat like" Indie stated.

Jennifer furrowed her brows in bewilderment.

"His face wasn't clearly visible, but I could tell by his height and stature"

"But how did you manage to see it's face, since you were running?" Queried Jennifer.

"I was running as usual, all of a sudden I ran into a figure staring deeply at me, out of terror I stumbled and fell down. The figure kept coming toward me, on his mouth were stains of substance, like… like blood and his eyes… it was growing red, with the panic I, I woke up" Indie stuttered with her grips tightened on her cup of coffee.

"It's just a dream, Indie" Came Jennifer's voice.

"But why do I feel like it was real, why do I feel like it's something more than a dream?" Indie asked with her gaze piercing deeply at Jennifer.

"What do you think?" Jennifer's voice beamed with concern.

Indie bit her lips, as she was dumbfounded. She didn't know why but the dreams felt so real, the aura surrounding the being, seemed familiar. Thinking of it, it was just a dream but why was she feeling bothered?

"Are you alright, Indie?" Jennifer's voice resonated, pulling Indie out of her thought.

"Don't worry too much about that, it was just a dream, okay? C'mon chill"

"But why do I keep having the damn dream every night I close my eyes? It's creepy, Jennifer" Indie grumbled with her eyes already turning glassy.

"Hey" Jennifer called, taking hold of her hand, with that she resumed speaking "Is Okay, I told you it's just a dream, something might have triggered your dream, let me guess, you watched a horror movie and it got stuck in your mind".

Indie's brows knitted.

"Human brain can visualize the frequencies in the mind when asleep. So it could probably be a result of what was in your mind"

"So are you saying that... the monster is in my mind?" She asked staring dagger at Jennifer.

"It could be because of the horror movies you had watched in the past, c'mon Indie, don't be dumb" Jennifer asserted.

Oh God! What kind of friend had she ended up with? In fact she had begun to doubt that the girl sitting across from her wasn't a clown. The thought wanted to make her lips betray the laughter she was holding in, despite the annoyance eluding her.

"I'm not quite a movie fan, you know that" Indie stated with her eyes rolled.

"Could be your fantasy then" Taunted Jennifer with a narrowed eyes. Indie rolled her eyes again, grabbing her coffee, she reached it to her lips and took a sip.

To be frankly, she was already sick of Jennifer's frivolity.
