Sun lays penetrated through a faint colored window, reflecting on the floor decorated with scattered books, rumbled papers, a pair of trouser and empty cans of drink. There on a feasible bed lied Jackie snoring, completely unaware of the raised sun. A buzzing sound resonated through the air, breaking his sleep, he extended his hand reaching for his phone with a clammy eyes. Getting held of his phone, he switched off the alarm and kept his phone back on the desk.
It was already 9am, he must had been so tired from overworking last night, as after he was done with his delivering job, he worked on his homework. He worked for a well famous kitchen in the town and as well indulged in painting, but ever since school activities became severe, he could no longer catch up, so he quit painting.
Jackie's thought dissipated, his eyes snapped open as the recollection of his classes being scheduled for the next hour struck his mind, he abruptly sat up, with that, his gaze fell on the messed floor. Speculating on where to start from, his phone buzzed again. Abruptly, he picked up his phone, glancing at it, it was Omen, with no hesitation he picked it.
"Man where are you, I looked into your class this morning, but you weren't there and lecture is already on going, where the hell are you?"
"Umm… still at home" Answered Jackie, his expression froze in shock. He never wanted this. His academic was the last thing he would ever trivialized.
"What!!" Omen's voice elaborated through the phone.
"Heading there right away, see you" Jackie cut the call, and as anxiety overwhelmed him, he dropped his phone on his bed. With a frustrated gesture, he raked his fingers through his black messy hair, his other hand resting on his waist.
"Guys, you got to wait when I'm back, I will give you guys a good cleaning " He muttered fixing his gaze on the messy floor, in a hurry, he rushed into the bathroom.
Few minutes later, emerged Jackie out of the multi-story building, in a quick pace he hopped on his old deteriorating bike, igniting it, he rode off, leaving a fent grey smoke drifting in the air.
….
"Who do we have here?" Voiced MR Eddie. Jackie's slow pace came to an abrupt stop. All his effort trying to sneak in without attracting any attention, have fallen into the trench. He was seized with nervousness as all eyes were glaring dagger at him. Succumbing to the dense atmosphere wasn't unexpected to him, knowing pretty well that he was a nervous person. Swallowing a lump, he tipped his eyeglasses backward with his feet stiffly glued to the ground. On his body was locked his usual outfit, a green hoodie and a black jeans.
"Good morning MR Eddie" He greeted with a smile forced on his thin lips.
"So unexpected of you…" MR Eddie glanced at his wrist watch and looked back at Jackie "You came late, this is unlike you" He said, expecting a tangible response from Jackie, with his hands plugged into his side pockets. MR was clad in white, brown striped shirt, a blown plain pant and a brown shoe adorning feet.
MR Eddie was a middle aged Man and was the lecturer currently conducting the class. He was stilling standing, waiting to hear from Jackie. Jackie meanwhile, was devoid of words, unable to figure out a reasonable excuse. Being tongue tied, he ran his hand on his hair.
"I didn't ask you to rake your fingers through hair, MR Oak"
Selene chuckles echoed at all corners of the classroom at the words uttered by the lecturer. Meanwhile Jackie wished the ground would open up and swallow on him. The stares, piercing at him, were repulsive.
"We are already rounding up and here you are, still coming" MR Eddie said and turned facing the green board.
"Take a seat, MR Oak" He instructed.
Jackie sat down, beside him seated a girl, who glanced at him with a disgusted face.
"What have we done so far?" He asked in lower tone. The girl gave him a cold shoulder. Getting no response from her, he knitted his brows and withdrew his gaze, with that he looked ahead at MR Eddie who was writing on the green massive board.
Jackie was already used to cold attitudes. Thinking of the hostile atmosphere and cold stares he received today, was one of the reasons he had always avoided attending classes late just to avoid it, but today was an exception. Being the center of attention was what he despised so much, he couldn't withstand two gazes let alone more of them, considering his nervous nature.
