Chapter 19 - False Mirror

A few moments later, the information about this basic skill was ingrained in Bob's mind. According to the information of this skill that had appeared in his mind, it actually matched the information in the book that contained the skill scrolls and other things that could be found within the shop where he had bought it.

Bob obviously did not expect that this was the only skill scroll that possessed this skill. In fact, many of the skill scrolls out there were produced in batches, and they could be found within the ruins. This was the reason why the information about these skills could be found within that book.

According to the information of this skill, it was capable of suppressing the aura of a person. This made it that, unless someone wanted to detect the power level of a person, it was impossible for them to be able to tell if someone was powerful or not. In simple terms, it could make someone look harmless.

In real sense, Bob was not sure if this skill was going to be able to evolve in the direction that he wanted, but he hoped so. After all, this was not one that could be used for hiding like Phantom veil, or something like changing his appearance.

Instead, since it could hide someone's aura, reducing a person's presence, Bob hoped that it would be able to evolve in the direction that he wanted.

Regardless, Bob looked at the system panel that popped up in front of him, and the skill had been added.

[Name: Robert Milton

Age: 20

Power Level: Level 4 Commander

Techniques: Crimson Vortex Sutra (Epic), Spear Mastery (Epic), Human Weapon (Epic).

Skills: Phantom Veil (Epic), Phantom Thrust (Epic), Hidden Veil (Common)

Divine skills/abilities:

Current skill points: ∞]

Even though Bob was happy about the fact that the system was glitched, he could not tell if there was a time that this glitch in the system was going to be corrected. So, every time that he saw that the number of skill points was still infinite, he was relieved.

Possessing infinite skill points implied that he could upgrade any skill to the highest level possible, with the limitation only being his soul. If his soul was at a higher level, he would be able to advance beyond the Epic tier.

But that was obviously an impossibility for the time being, considering that he did not even know what the Ascension realm was, and he did not know how to upgrade his soul.

Bob immediately began upgrading the skill, and as usual, several prompts from the system appeared, informing him of the cost of upgrading the skill, and if he could accept. For this skill to be upgraded to the Uncommon tier, Bob was required to spend 38 skill points.

But with infinite skill points, the numbers mentioned by the system were considered useless, and could be completely ignored by Bob. So, he consented for the upgrade to proceed.

Hidden Veil was upgraded to Hidden intent. This skill had the capability of hiding emotional fluctuations like killing intent and nervousness. There was nothing more than that.

Bob did not stop at that, as he immediately went ahead with the upgrade, which cost 10 times more the price before. The skill was then upgraded to Ghost Step.

The moment that the name of this skill was displayed in his mind, Bob could not help but get stunned momentarily. At the same time, he wondered, could it be that the evolution was leading to a deviation?

He was obviously upgrading a skill that could be used in hiding something. But why was it that this name sounded like a movement technique or something like that?

But all the worries vanished the moment that all the information settled, and he understood. While the name sounded more like a movement skill or technique, this skill actually had the capability of erasing someone's presence.

This applied not only to sound produced during movement, but including the scent, energy fluctuations, and aura. But of course, the energy fluctuations could not be completely suppressed in the situation where someone went all out in a fight.

But since the new skill was also related to hiding something, Bob was more relieved. So, he continued with the final upgrade, which led to the birth of the skill, False Mirror.

Coincidentally or not, it seemed that the final evolution of the skill was what he wanted. While this was not the ultimate evolution of this skill, as it could be evolved even further, but this was the limit at the moment.

The Epic tier skill had the capability of projecting a false power level and aura that felt natural. No matter what, a person could not feel that something was out of place unless they were at least two realms above Bob.

This implied that if Bob faced someone that was less than two realms above himself, it would be impossible for them to be able to tell the exact power level that Bob was in.

Additionally, Bob could easily manipulate the power level that was being displayed. The energy consumption by this skill was very minimal, unless someone was using another skill or technique in order to observe him.

But unless that skill or detection technique being used was of a higher tier than Epic, it would be impossible to see through the false projection, unless the other party was two realms above Bob.

One had to understand that this was not levels difference, considering that even if a level 7 commander was standing in front of Bob, they would not be able to tell his power level as soon as he used this skill. They could only see what Bob was displaying, and not what the actual power level was. And, this was someone that was 3 levels above Bob.

In simple terms, unless it was someone that was at a power level that was beyond the commander realm, which implied that it was above the Master realm, meaning the Grandmaster realm, it was impossible for them to tell Bob's exact power level.

Additionally, as Bob's strength grew stronger, it would only require even more powerful power levels in order to be able to see through his exact strength.

Then, there was an additional function within this skill, which was that it was capable of changing the elemental perception himself. According to the explanation within the skill description, as long as Bob was having affinity with the wind element, he could change it so that others would perceive the fire element from him.

But of course, that implied that he was not supposed to use the wind element in attacking. Otherwise, the moment that it was used, even if the perception of the others was somehow hindered, they definitely could see, right?

Bob was excited to say the least. He had finally acquired what he wanted after going through a lot of things. And now, since he had this, he would be able to do what he had planned.

For the time being, Bob understood that there was no need for him to venture out of the stronghold anymore. In fact, Bob really hoped that he would not venture out of the stronghold for a very long time, unless he wanted to return back to Earth.

But of course, wanting to return did not imply that he had the capability. Just like at the moment, he had the intention of going back, but did not have the capability. So, he was planning to stay hidden for as long as possible, to make sure that he would have the capability of returning back home.

After calming down for a while, Bob decided to test out the skill. He activated it, and he could feel that a small amount of energy within his body was consumed. Then in the next moment, his aura fluctuations suddenly dropped, all the way to the soldier realm level 1.

It seemed that he could not go below that, meaning that this was the minimum that this skill could allow him. But this was enough. After all, if he hid his appearance, changed his aura, together with the power level, who would be able to tell who he was?

Additionally, he had the Epic tier skill that could make him invisible for quite a while. While it was not full invisibility, but it definitely could work together with his current False Mirror to allow him to be able to escape in case of danger.

Bob continued manipulating his power level, and he could change his power level at will, which was something that happened within only a few seconds.

Something that he found interesting was that, he could actually change his power level to appear to be higher than what it currently was. That implied that if a person was a level higher than himself, if Bob used the False Mirror, he could make it so that the other party could not see through his power level.

Additionally, due to the ability of changing his aura, he could easily intimidate those that he could not deal with, by masquerading as someone of a higher power level. And, it seemed that the maximum that he could pretend to be was by increasing his aura and projected power level to two realms above himself.

In this case, unless someone was two realms above Bob, they would not be able to tell that this was false. They would definitely believe.

The excitement that Bob was having could not be hidden after trying all this out. But there was more to come, considering that he had acquired two techniques and a skill.
