Chapter 5 - 1.4

Alexina POV.

After the incident when Connor made Lucian fly, while a few members of the academy found it quite amusing, others didn't, and news travels fast around here.

Lucian more or less cried, so now we have to deal with Connor not following our rules.

So currently, we are all standing in Headmaster Wells office. According to Lucian, the attack that he was given by Connor was unprovoked.

It was not. While I don't agree with what Connor did, Lucian deserved it. He takes the mick out of others because it makes him look better, and if you're not rising to it, he gets worse and worse.

"Sir. They have only been here for two days, and they are already causing trouble." Lucian pointed his finger. "That thing tried to attack me."

Oh great- it's like he has a death wish.

"Thing?" Connor shrieked. "Did he just call me a thing?" He held a hand to his heart and watched his jaw clench.

"Mr Graham. Please. Calm down." Headmaster Wells spoke slowly. "Mr Graham -"

"If I may -" Lucian smirked. "This behaviour doesn't display the immaculate behaviour that our academy always has. These elementals -"

"The Elementals are the most powerful families in our world, Lucian!" Headmaster Wells snapped. "We are lucky they took our offers. And you're also lucky that the Valentine family hasn't decided to take action against you for attempted hypnotherapy." Headmaster Wells yelled at Lucian as he sat back down in his seat.

Attempted hypnotherapy?

So that's what he tried to spell me with.

What a loser.

What kind of Wizard doesn't know that they can't use magic on us? Surely, they learn it at birth alongside their unknown hatred for us.

"Mr Graham. I do not believe your actions were dangerous. However, they were against academy rules-"

"Ha!" Lucian smirked, and I rolled my eyes.

"Not so fast, Lucian." Headmaster Wells sighed. "I do believe that his actions were in order of self-defence. Your spell towards Miss Valentine and the bullying you delivered towards Malin May and Abigail Fredrickson haven't been unnoticed." Headmaster Wells sighed as he stood up.

A note appeared in our hands, and I groaned at the word parents.

"Parents will be brought in. The same goes for you, Mr Melvin, Mr Millerson, Miss May, and Miss Fredrickson. I will not allow this to escalate."

"Whatever," Connor sighed.

"Hang on a minute, Sir. Why are we being brought into this?" Grayson frowned as he let out a low humourless laugh. "There must be a mistake."

Headmaster Wells walked around his desk and to the front of it. His body leaned back against it as he looked tired of the current situation.

I would be, too.

Imagine having to deal with the ongoing antics of Grayson, Lucian, and TJ.

The horror.

"No, Grayson. There isn't. Don't think your bullying towards Malin and Abigail has gone unnoticed. Your parents will be brought in too." I felt a smirk approach my lips as I the words left Headmaster's mouth.

Not only will Malin and Abigail finally get a chance to speak up for themselves, but by the sound of Grayson's voice, his parents will not be happy about this.

Leaving the office. I noticed Grayson had stayed behind. Lucian and TJ are saying with him.

My head wondered why they even have a problem with Malin and Abigail anyway. They seem like the nicest people from what I've known of them these past two days. So what did they have a little dangerous incident? Who doesn't love danger?

I'll have to ask them both about it later. Surely it can't be as bad as Lucian made it out to be.

"Hudson, annoy me one more time, and I swear -"

"You swear what? Water Boy?"

"I'll drown you."

"I'll bury you."

"You take that back!"

"You take what you said back!"

"No."

"I'll fry you both if another word escapes your lips." I hissed at Billy and Hudson as we headed down the corridor.

Currently, we all are late for the lesson as judging from Professor Golding's reaction yesterday, I don't think he would appreciate it if I were late.

Again.

Walking away with Connor as we both have the same lesson. He turned around frantically before pulling me around the corner and letting out a deep breath.

"That Zinapanini kid is trouble." He sighed, and I furrowed my eyebrows.

"You mean Zinapoli?"

"That's what I said," Connor rushed, and I opened my mouth to protest, but Connor shook his head. "It doesn't matter. Either way, he is someone who will happily kill an elemental."

"And how would you know?" I laughed at Connor.

His willingness is amazing. I've never seen him like this. But for Connor to be worried. It says a lot.

"I think his family has something to do with murdering Bennett."

"You're crazy Connor-"

"Lexi, trust me. His family hate yours. They hate Elementals-"

I held my hand up as Connor's eyes begged me to listen and understand him.

"All Wizarding families hate us, Con. No matter how they pretend not to, there is always a deep hatred -"

"Not as much as his family do, Alexina. Trust me. He is trouble, we need to be alert and careful."

Connor turned away from me and headed to our class. I scratched my head before turning around, too, stopping in my tracks as I saw Lucian heading out of Headmaster Wells' office, both wearing broad smiles.

Well, well... It seems like Connor may be on the right path.

I said may be.

-----

Sighing for the millionth time. I folded my arms and stared at my opponent.

My opponent that I can't harm.

Since Connor had told me that fantastic news before our lesson, I've been distracted. There is no way that what Connor said is true.

It can't be. It's impossible for a Wizard to harm an Elemental. It's impossible. Nobody has ever done it.

Bennett's death was murder but we never found out who did it. According to the authorities, no trace has been found of any supernatural ability.

Of course, that means it's all a cover-up, but I want to know who by.

"Miss Valentine!" I snapped my head towards Professor Golding, who doesn't seem impressed. "Your power demonstration?"

"I can't use my powers on Grayson." I replied.

As much as I want to, I can't. Elemental magic is too strong for vampires. Fire especially.

Even the lightest flame will burn a vampire alive. The flame that causes no harm will still burn a vampire alive. But the blood of a vampire can save anyones life.

Even an Elemental.

Ridiculous? I know.

"Why not?" Professor Golding asked. His voice was annoyed as I've been standing here for nearly fifteen minutes daydreaming.

"Yeah, why not?" Grayson asked, confusion filling his voice.

I bet he wouldn't miss the chance to stick his fangs into my neck.

Filthy creature.

"I think you both already know." I sighed before scanning the room.

Let's find someone who can take a hit.

"Connor?" I smiled, and he grinned.

Girls swooned over him as he ran a hand through his dark hair, winking at girls as he walked past. He nodded his head at me.

Just as he rose his hand in the air, Grayson stepped in between us.

"You better be careful, Valentine." He whispered. "There are people here who want your head."

"Move out of the way, Gerald," Connor smirked, and Grayson glared at him.

"You mean Grayson." Grayson deadpanned, and Connor furrowed his eyebrows.

"That's what I said, Gerald." He smiled. "Move it."

I'm trying to hide my smile at Connors' behaviour. I stepped back as we prepared to use our powers on one another.

Bowing our heads, we immediately held our hands out.

"Now." Professor Golding instructed and throwing my hand forward, a flame shot through.

Surrounding Connor, he laughed before holding his arm out and throwing me across the room.

My back hit the wall, and I wiped the blood from my lip as I narrowed my eyes at him.

Standing up, people stared at me worriedly, and I grinned at Connor before closing my eyes and reopening them slowly.

"Oh shit," Connor groaned, and I smiled before drawing a circle with my hands.

Pushing my hands forward, a flame the size of the hulk flew at Connor, his body crashing through the door and into the corridor where people began to rush out of their classrooms.

Running over to Connor, I held my hand out, which he took.

"Are you okay?" I asked him, and he nodded his head laughing.

"Are you? Your lip is bleeding," he spoke softly, and I nodded my head at him before realising nearly the whole corridor was watching us.

Professor Golding pushed through students in panic but sighed in relief once he saw us alive and standing.

"I asked you to demonstrate your power. Not kill each other."

-----

"So you guys just do this on the daily?" I asked as I lay down on my couch in the dorm.

"Yeah," Malin laughed, and I snuggled the couch as I pulled a blanket up closer to me.

Movie nights every night, blankets, and food. What more can someone want?

Even though I'm set on keeping to myself this year, Malin and Abigail really are warming up to me, and I can see myself becoming closer with them.

As wary as I am, some part of me feels that this friendship will lead to something great? Who knows? Might do some ass kicking of some stupid people?

With their intelligence, anybody could do anything.

I'm not particularly stupid myself, though.

"So..." My voice drifted off as I took a handful of popcorn. "How did you guys nearly destroy the academy?"

Both girls turned to me. Their faces are in shock. Did they think that Lucian could tell me news like that and I won't bring it up?

No way. I want to know what's going on. I can either help or just leave them to it.

"Time is precious, my friends," I tapped my imaginary watch and smiled.

"Fine." Malin huffed, and I grinned in achievement.

They paused the film and turned to me. Abigail sat up straight while Malin remained lying down.

"It happened last year. We were in the library and found a book with the title name of Alistair. Thinking it was about the academy, we pulled it out and began to read it." Malin groaned as she thought back to the events.

Abigail rubbed her hand against her forhead, and I grabbed another handful of popcorn.

"The book was actually based on the rivalry of Alistair and his rival -"

"How do we know Alistair is a him?" I asked with a smirk, and the girls frowned, but I gestured for them to continue with their story.

"Their rival. Alexandor Windsor. Apparently, they had the rivalry due to Alistair being given a crystal that Alexandor wanted -"

"You thought if you found the crystal, you would have figured a long life secret." I finished, and both girls nodded their head.

I don't understand. How could that lead to potential destruction?

"But with every clue we found, it was like we were being stopped. As if nobody wanted us to find it. Probelm after problem. One day, we accidentally cast a spell that ended up backfiring and setting fire to underneath the academy. Since then, we've had the shitty treatment." Malin sighed, Abigail seemed disappointed.

It's understandable. I mean, if I found out information like that, I would want to find out every little part I can.

Being the reason that a puzzle had been fixed after centuries of not knowing the answer would be a great deal, they just wanted to make a difference and help.

Is that something to justify the hate that they get? No. It isn't.

"Lucian thinks it's all a myth -"

"Oh, I know it's not a myth. It's a known fact that they had a rivalry for centuries." I informed them as I munched on popcorn.

"You believe us?" Abigail bolted up. Surprised my senetence.

"Why wouldn't I? The Windsor family is an unwanted known ally of the elementals. I'll get you your information."

"You mean -"

"Oh yeah, open the case back up."
