In the surgery director's office, filled with an awkward and secretive atmosphere, Director Wang's impatient voice struck like a heavy hammer, snapping Nurse Sana's drifting thoughts back to reality.
"What are you still standing there for? Weren't you supposed to bring me the case analysis?" His tone carried clear irritation from being disturbed.
Nurse Sana quickly pulled herself together and stepped forward.
The moment she entered the room, a strong, nauseating metallic smell hit her. It was clear something unspeakable had just happened in there. Her chest stirred with discomfort.
She struggled to remain calm and gently placed the file on the desk, avoiding eye contact with Director Wang the entire time.
Director Wang frowned deeply, displeasure written all over his face. He looked her up and down and asked, "Weren't you off today? Why are you still at the hospital?"
Nurse Sana raised her head slightly, her gaze calm and clear as she answered truthfully, "I forgot something. When I came back to get it, Dr. Zhang asked me to deliver this to you."
Her voice was steady, showing no trace of panic or flaw.
After speaking, she gave a polite nod and softly said, "Director, I've handed it over. I'll be leaving now."
She turned to go, but Director Wang called out, "Wait."
Nurse Sana's heart skipped a beat, but she kept her composure and asked softly, "Is there anything else, Director?"
His small eyes fixed on her like they were trying to pierce her soul and uncover what she might really be thinking.
He slowly asked, "Did you hear anything just now?"
Her heart jumped, but she adjusted quickly, blinking with an innocent look and replied, "Did someone say something? I didn't hear anything."
Her expression was natural, her voice sincere. There was no sign of pretending.
Director Wang studied her for a moment. Seeing her response, his suspicion gradually faded. He waved his hand and said, "Alright, you can go."
Nurse Sana felt like she had been granted a pardon and quickly walked out of the office.
Every step felt like she was escaping a dangerous and awkward trap.
Once outside the office, she felt her heart pounding as if it would burst out of her chest.
Her mind was in chaos. Everything she had just experienced replayed in her head like a movie.
My god. She had accidentally uncovered a shocking secret.
It didn't just involve someone's reputation and innocence. It could expose complex relationships and power struggles within the hospital.
She knew this was no small matter. She rushed out of the hospital and ran to find a quiet, empty corner.
With slightly trembling fingers, she dialed Katherine's number. Her voice trembled with excitement, "Katherine, I discovered something new. Maybe it wasn't just Shanshan who framed you."
On the other end, Katherine's voice instantly grew tense. "Sana, where are you right now?"
Nurse Sana took a deep breath and tried to keep her voice calm. "Outside the hospital. Let's talk face-to-face."
"I'll come to your place."
After hanging up, Katherine couldn't sit still.
Sana's words hinted that someone else might be involved?
Not long after, the doorbell rang.
Katherine rushed to open the door, and Sana came in like a gust of wind.
As the door closed with a soft click, Katherine couldn't wait and asked, "Sana, what did you mean on the phone?"
Sana's throat felt a little dry. She licked her lips and said, "Katherine, do you have any water? I need a drink."
Katherine immediately understood and quickly turned around, walking to the kitchen. In a moment, she came back with a bottle of mineral water.
Nurse Sana gratefully took it, twisted the cap open, and tilted her head back to drink it down in big gulps.
She had been on edge the whole way here. Now, as the cool water slid down her throat, she finally started to calm down. The tension in her body began to ease, like a bowstring slowly being loosened.
"Katherine, I went to the hospital earlier to pick up the keys. Guess what I saw?"
Nurse Sana set the bottle down and spoke with a serious expression.
Katherine looked puzzled and gently shook her head. "What?"
Nurse Sana took a deep breath and said slowly, "Shanshan came out of the director's office. They were doing that in there."
Katherine's eyes widened in shock. "What? Are you sure you didn't see it wrong?"
Nurse Sana sighed and explained helplessly, "I didn't see it with my own eyes, but I heard it. And I waited a while before they finally opened the door.
When the door opened, Shanshan came out. She looked exactly like someone who had just done that.
And when I went in, I could even smell…"
She stopped here, her face showing obvious disgust.
Katherine frowned deeply and started pacing the room in thought.
If what Nurse Sana said was true, then things were much more complicated than she expected.
She weighed the pros and cons in her heart. If they acted rashly now, they might get into even more trouble.
"You're saying the director knows what Shanshan did and is helping her destroy the evidence?"
Katherine stopped pacing and looked at Nurse Sana with a burning gaze.
Nurse Sana nodded firmly, speaking with emotion. "Yes. It's definitely possible. Otherwise, how could the footage you got be different from the one the director had?"
"Katherine, what should we do now?" Her eyes were filled with urgency and expectation.
Katherine looked at Nurse Sana, but her heart was full of worry.
She knew that once they got involved in this, it would be like being caught in a whirlpool, impossible to get out of easily.
She spoke seriously, "Sana, you have to act like you know nothing. Forget everything."
Nurse Sana's eyes widened in confusion. "Why? Katherine, don't you want to prove your innocence as soon as possible?"
Katherine slowly shook her head, a hint of helplessness in her eyes. "It's not that I don't want to. It's that this matter is far more complicated than we imagined.
If the director really is involved, then this isn't a simple matter anymore.
It might involve complicated hospital relationships, power struggles, and various hidden interests.
If we act impulsively, not only will we fail to clear our names, we might even fall into a trap we can't escape from.
We need to plan carefully, wait for the right time, and find stronger evidence. Only then can we strike hard and expose their scheme completely."
After hearing this, Nurse Sana felt that Katherine made a lot of sense.
"Katherine, maybe Shanshan got that opportunity to study abroad through connections.
If they can frame someone, then something like this is probably nothing to them."
Katherine sat down beside Nurse Sana and held her hand.
"Sana, I know you're standing up for me, but you can't get yourself into danger just because of my problem."
"From now on, I'll handle it myself."
