Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: The Mysterious Girl Is...

A gentle breeze drifted by as Kavi lay in front of his cabin, eyes half-closed, soaking in the peaceful quiet of the forest.

Life here might be a bit dull, but at least the environment was beautiful.

Over the past few years, Kavi had cleared the trees surrounding his home, carving out a small plot of land where he now grew vegetables. Every few days, he went hunting to keep his meat supply steady. It wasn't until his first hunting trip that he finally understood why the original Kavi had dared to build a house this deep in the woods.

There were no real threats here—just a few ordinary animals, no large predators. Quiet, safe, and remote. Perfect.

He still made occasional trips to town for basic necessities, but he never stayed out overnight. And though he hardly spent money, the small stash of Beli left behind by his predecessor was nearly gone. If he wanted to keep living like this, he'd have to find a way to make money soon.

With that thought in mind, Kavi got up and set a small grill in front of the house. He placed a few thick cuts of meat from yesterday's hunt onto the rack, lit the fire, and sat back, listening to the wood crackle as the flames caught.

A little barbecue every day keeps the world at bay.

Too bad he couldn't afford wine—grilled meat and a cold drink would've been heaven.

Soon, the fat began to sizzle, the meat turning golden and juicy, releasing a mouthwatering aroma.

Just as Kavi was about to dig in, a quiet sound came from the forest behind him—a faint gulp, the kind that came from someone who'd been staring at food for far too long.

Kavi's eyes narrowed.

"Who's there?"

In an instant, his Observation Haki flared to life, sweeping the surrounding trees. Within seconds, he located a presence—someone hiding behind a tree just a few meters away. A young woman with white hair.

"Come out. I can see you."

Startled, the girl stepped out hesitantly, clearly nervous. She kept her distance but bowed deeply.

"I'm sorry! I didn't mean to intrude—I just wandered here by accident!"

Kavi raised an eyebrow. The girl looked oddly familiar, though he couldn't quite place her. A friend of the original Kavi?

He scratched his cheek awkwardly. "You want something to eat?"

The girl's eyes lit up. "Huh? Really? I can?"

She trotted over eagerly before he could change his mind.

She really has no sense of caution, huh.

"Yeah, sure," Kavi said, handing her a skewer. "I made too much anyway."

'Okay, maybe not too much... but I can make more.'

Still, he was curious. In all his years here, no one had ever stumbled across this place.

The girl didn't hesitate. She bit into the meat and her eyes widened with delight.

"This is amazing! Uncle, your cooking is awesome!"

"I've been grilling for eight years. I'd better be good by now," Kavi said with a smirk. If there was one thing besides training he'd mastered, it was cooking.

"Oh! I haven't even introduced myself yet—my name is Nico Olivia. I want to be a great archaeologist one day!"

Kavi nearly dropped his meat.

'Nico Olivia?! That's Nico Robin's mother! No wonder she looked familiar...'

That meant she'd one day join the Ohara scholars and die trying to uncover the truth of the Void Century.

"Uncle, what about you?" Olivia asked.

"Kavi. I don't really have any dreams. Just living in seclusion out here for now."

"Wow... so how did you find this place?"

"I could ask you the same," he said with a raised eyebrow.

Olivia smiled sheepishly. "I finished my studies early today and decided to go exploring. I was looking for anything old or maybe connected to history... wandered into a cave by accident. I was about to turn back when I smelled something delicious—so I followed the scent and... here I am."

'So innocent,' Kavi thought. 'And yet, this girl would one day give her life for history's sake.'

She might not have been a great mother, but there was no doubt—Nico Olivia was a brilliant archaeologist, one of the best.

"Well," Kavi said warmly, "it must be fate. I hope you do become the greatest archaeologist in the world."

"Thank you, Uncle!"

After finishing the barbecue, Olivia said goodbye and hurried off to resume her studies. But Kavi's words clearly left an impression—she walked away with newfound confidence in her stride.

From that day on, she became a regular visitor, often dropping by to mooch food and talk about history. The two became friends in the oddest way.

'Who would've thought my first friend in this world would be such a big name?'

Five Years Later

Another five years passed.

Kavi, now 38, sat quietly in his cabin. His supplies were running low, and so was his money.

It was time to go out and see the world.

"System," he said, "open the character panel."

[Character Panel]

Host: Kavi

Age: 38

Constitution: 5438

Skills:

Conqueror's Haki (Advanced)Armament Haki (Advanced)Observation Haki (Intermediate)Swordsmanship (Advanced)Navy Six Styles (Advanced)Water Treading (Reduces stamina cost by 20% when moving/fighting on water)

Devil Fruit: Human-Human Fruit – Pangu Form (Development: 32%)

Kavi looked down at his massive arms. His strength had grown beyond imagination. He now stood over two and a half meters tall, his body rippling with muscle and energy.

His Armament Haki and the Navy's Six Styles had both reached advanced levels, while Observation Haki lagged behind—since it couldn't be boosted directly by physical training, he relied on the system to increase its proficiency through repeated sign-ins.

But what truly gave him confidence to venture out was Water Treading.

After all, most of this world was covered in ocean, and pirates here had monstrous endurance.

Thanks to his fruit, Kavi's stamina was leagues, above the average person. But more stamina was never a bad thing.

Especially for someone as cautious as me.

Based on his current stats, Kavi felt confident he could hold his own against a Marine Admiral.

It was time to explore.

He packed a month's worth of food into his system's storage space—a built-in inventory system the system helpfully provided.

You might ask, why not store it on a boat?

Well... what boat?

Boats cost money.

Kavi shrugged. With Water Treading, he could literally walk across the ocean. If Aokiji could ride a bicycle across the sea, why couldn't he just walk?

Before leaving, he stopped by Olivia's house.

He told her he'd be gone for a while, so no more, free barbecue.

The girl pouted. "Uncle! You're my only chef! You better come back soon!"

Kavi chuckled. "I will. Take care of yourself, Olivia."

After a final wave, Kavi turned and left the island.

Now then... let's see what this dangerous, twisted world really has to offer.
