Chapter 8: A Smile in the Face of Death
His visit to prison was not only out of curiosity or pleasure, but for a specific purpose. Rain knew that death manas are scattered in the air as a spiritual trace after the death of the beings, but they are particularly concentrated in places that have seen a recent death.
So, when the prisoner's body collapsed in front of him with the effect of the "touch of death", Rain did not move directly... He stood quietly, closing his eyes.
Then he began to breathe.
Yes, he breathes the mana, as if it were the air necessary for his life. Something that others can't do, something impossible for any normal Mana user.
But Rain wasn't normal.
He passed through death, and came from it.
The air around him seemed to darken, as if the light was shrinking... Then he felt it.
Mana enters his body voluntarily, as if looking for her first lap.
He opened his eyes slowly, a small smile on his face.
I don't use death mana... I feed it.

Later, after he bathed and got rid of the traces of dust and blood, he returned to his own suite. On his elegant wooden desk, he found a carefully folded letter stamped with the Cecilia family logo.
Breaking the seal and opening the paper:
"Dear Rain,
I can't stop thinking about you. I miss you so much, although our last meeting was just a month ago.
My birthday is coming, and I hope you attend the family party. Your presence will be the greatest gift.
– Cecilia 💜"
Rain smiled a faint smile, but in his eyes a strange glitter appeared... a combination of amusement and deep thinking.
Since we were five... her eyes didn't leave me.
Cecilia... I don't think she loved me because of something I did. But because of what I am.
That madness... that stillness in violence.
Remember her appearance — black hair that tends to purple, and strange purple eyes that radiate an obsession.
She always looked at it like a poisoned treasure... irresistible.
He folded the letter and put it aside.

Knocking on the door, then Alfred entered with his usual calm voice:
"Sir, dinner is ready."
Rain replied without paying attention to him:
"Okay."
He got up from his place and left quietly towards the dinner table, where his father and older sister are waiting for him.
