Pearl Su thought to herself that Servant Xin was probably just an innocent and naïve young girl. When someone else sees something and brings it up on their own, it's not the same as you going and asking them directly.

People naturally wouldn't want to tell you, especially since Servant Xin was new to the house and would obviously be more cautious.

She comforted her, "It's alright. Just pay attention to what they say in the future. There's no need to ask them directly."

Servant Xin was happy that Pearl Su didn't blame her. "Okay, I'll do what you say, Miss Su."

Pearl Su smiled slightly and continued chatting with her.

"You should be sixteen already, right? Have you taken a husband?"

Servant Xin turned red from embarrassment when her marriage was brought up so directly. She shyly replied, "I'm only fifteen this year. I haven't reached the age yet. My mother said there's no rush. She hoped I'd find someone better after coming to the Marquis' manor."

"Hmm, so do you have someone you like?" Pearl Su asked.

At this, Servant Xin's shy face lit up with joy. "Yes, I do. His name is Ah Lei. We grew up together. He said he wants to marry me. But my mother doesn't really agree."

"So, do you plan to marry him?" Pearl Su asked again.

"Yes. After I marry my main husband, I'll marry him too."

"What if your mother still disagrees?"

Servant Xin pouted, totally unconcerned. "We're going to marry several men anyway. What difference does one more make? I'll let my mother choose the main husband. She won't have any opinion after that."

"How many are you planning to marry?" Pearl Su asked curiously.

Servant Xin thought about it and replied, "Not sure. Maybe seven or eight, like my mother. It's not as many as others, but that's enough."

Seven or eight!!!

Pearl Su felt like something got stuck in her throat and made her choke. She couldn't speak. After a while, she had to change the topic.

The whole afternoon passed quietly, without anyone disturbing them.

It was time for dinner again. Servant Xin went to collect the food.

The dishes were: braised donkey meat, crystal pork slices, pineapple stir-fried chicken, and abalone with dried scallop soup.

After dinner, Pearl Su patted her belly, a bit troubled. If she kept eating like this, she was going to get fat.

She stood up and slowly walked around the room, thinking about the whole day. Still, no one had come to ask her to treat the dog-man. Why not?

She wondered hard. Was there a problem? Was something blocking them? Or had they already found someone else to treat him? No matter how much she thought, she couldn't figure it out. After walking a few more circles, she was still clueless. Poor her five thousand taels of gold!

The night was still and quiet. Pearl Su went to bed early. A shadowy figure came into the room silently, sat by her bed, and gently touched her cheek. The movements were tender and lingered for a while.

Suddenly, he pried open her jaw and placed a small object into her mouth.

After doing all this, he stared at her deeply, sat beside her for a while longer, then got up and quietly left.

The next morning, Pearl Su woke from a deep sleep. She tried to get up but suddenly realized she had no strength in her body at all. She didn't give up and tried several times, but the result was the same.

What was going on? Pearl Su tried to recall what went wrong but couldn't find any clue.

She struggled and checked her own pulse. She didn't find anything wrong in her body, just weakness.

Why had her body suddenly turned so weak? Pearl Su was even more puzzled.

After a long effort, she finally managed to sit up.

"Good morning, Miss Su."

Pearl Su had just sat down when she saw Servant Xin walk in holding a set of bright red clothes, with a delicate and beautiful headpiece placed on top.

Seeing Pearl Su was already awake, Servant Xin set the items aside and came over, saying, "Miss Su, let me help you wash up."

"Alright," Pearl Su agreed helplessly.

After helping Pearl Su wash up, Servant Xin brought her breakfast and carefully fed her, very attentive and cautious.

After breakfast, the more Pearl Su thought about it, the more she felt something was off. It was like Servant Xin already knew she couldn't move.

When Servant Xin came back again, Pearl Su looked at her and asked, "Servant Xin, do you already know I can't move?"

"Yes, Manager Lin said you're not feeling well and told me to take good care of you. He also asked me to help you get dressed in these clothes and do your makeup to look beautiful and joyful."

As she spoke, Servant Xin pointed to the clothes she had brought in earlier.

Pearl Su looked at the luxurious red clothing and thought about what Servant Xin had said. She couldn't figure out what was going on.

"Miss Su, let me help you get changed. We still need to do your makeup. It will take a while," Servant Xin said, and then started to take off Pearl Su's clothes.

Pearl Su had no strength in her body and had no choice but to let her do as she wished.

Once she was dressed, Servant Xin busied herself with the makeup. When she finally finished applying the last touch of lipstick, she let out a gasp of admiration. "Miss Su, you look so beautiful."

Pearl Su thought she was exaggerating and laughed. "Pretty? Are you saying that because of your great makeup skills? Come on, help me over. I want to see how beautiful you've made me."

Hearing Pearl Su teasing her, Servant Xin pouted. "That's not it. I'm telling the truth. I'll help you over right now, and you can see for yourself if I'm being honest."

With Servant Xin's help, Pearl Su struggled to walk over to the mirror. Looking at her reflection, her face was both dignified and festive with the makeup.

She couldn't explain what she was feeling. It was strange. Something didn't feel right.

"Ah, Miss Su, I almost forgot your headpiece. Let me put it on for you," Servant Xin said.

With quick hands, Servant Xin placed the delicate and ornate headpiece on Pearl Su's head.

Pearl Su looked at herself again in the mirror and was completely shocked. M... M...

This was... this was... a bridal look?

They had dressed her up exactly like an ancient bride. No wonder she had felt that something wasn't right earlier.

"Look, Miss Su. You look even more beautiful with the headpiece," Servant Xin said proudly.

Pearl Su felt like cursing. Why did they dress her like a bride? Who was the lunatic behind this?

She struggled to raise her hand to take off the heavy golden headpiece, but her arm just wouldn't move.

So she said, "Servant Xin, help me take off the headpiece. It's too heavy. It's making my head hurt."

"No, we can't take it off. Miss Su, we're leaving soon," Servant Xin quickly stopped her.

"Leave? Where are we going?" Pearl Su asked, confused.

Just then, a man's voice came from outside. "Miss Xin, is everything ready? Can we go now?"

"It's ready. We'll come out soon," Servant Xin replied loudly.

"Great, we'll be waiting outside," the voice replied happily.

"Let's go, Miss Su. I'll help you," said Servant Xin as she helped Pearl Su up.

Pearl Su stayed silent and let her lead her outside.
