She sat, her eyes scanning the environment as her lips curved out smiles. Everyone was celebrating in the feasting grand hall of the pack. Few were dancing to the beating drums, few were drinking and laughing, the rest were doing one thing or the other as they enjoyed the celebration.
Sabrina, the only child of her father, the future Alpha, observed everyone with a mix of excitement. It was her birthday, a day she had been looking forward to for a long time, not just for the celebration, but for the moment she had been waiting to share with everyone.
Suddenly, her father finally raised his hand, calling for attention. His voice rang out strong and authoritative, commanding the attention of all who were present. "On this great day, make a wish. Anything and I, your father, will grant it," he announced, his gaze sweeping over the gathered pack members as they all stayed calm, their attention focused on the royal feasting table where Sabrina, her father, their family and the trusted pack members sat.
She couldn't help but smile at his words, her heart pounding in her chest as she paused for a moment, gathering her courage, she stood up from her seat. "I have a wish, father. A great wish to ask," she spoke up, her voice carrying across the gathered crowd. "Speak up, my child," my father replied, his eyes fixed on her.
Taking a deep breath, she made her announcement, the words flowing from her lips with conviction. "I, the future Alpha, hereby want to give my Alpha position to Cedric, my lover," she declared loudly, causing a hush to fall over the pack as gasps of surprise and disappointment rippled through the crowd.
"No! that's an abomination in this pack! He is a rogue brought here for shelter many years ago! A servant in this pack! He is our subject!" Her father roared, his words filled with anger and disbelief. But her response left them speechless.
"Cedric is the man after my heart. Once he becomes the Alpha of this great pack, he shall make me his Luna and together, we will rule this great pack."
Yes, that was Cedric's promise to her. On several occasions, he would tell her how much he loves her and how he would treat her as his special queen and Luna by the time he forms his own pack in the nearest future. Whenever he says that, Sabrina realised it's one of his wishes and he would be so happy to see his wish come through so that's why she's giving her Alpha position to him. Seeing his wish come through and seeing him happy will make her happy too.
"Cedric, my love," She called out. walking gracefully towards him, her royal long gown swept the ground as she approached where he stood amongst his fellow pack guards, their face looking downwards in respect for her. She held his wrist as they made their way to stand in the centre of the pack. She made her decision clear. "I hereby reject the Alpha position." She paused, observing everyone's expression. "I'm giving it to Cedric." She added. "May you live long, my Alpha," she declared, planting a gentle kiss on his forehead.
The pack fell into a stunned silence as they processed the unexpected turn of events.
"Over my dead body will I watch this happen!" Her father stood up in disappointment, making his way to his chambers, his expression a mix of anger and resignation. Some of the pack members followed suit, their allegiance shaken by my decision.
But there were those who remained, their eyes filled with admiration and respect for their new Alpha. Cedric stepped forward, his posture strong and confident as he addressed the pack. "I am honored to accept this position, and I pledge to lead this pack with wisdom and compassion. Together, we will thrive and grow stronger as a united pack," he spoke, his words filled with determination and sincerity.
As the celebrations continued, Sabrina felt a sense of peace wash over her, knowing that she had followed her heart and made the right choice. Cedric was the one she loved, and she had no doubt that he would lead their pack to greatness.
Just as they were still in the feasting group of the pack hall, there were screaming voices coming from her father's chamber. She rushed towards it, the sounds of chaos echoing in her ears. A sense of dread washed over her as her eyes fell on the maids, their cries piercing the air.
What she saw stopped her in her tracks. Her heart pounded in her chest as she took in the sight before her. There, on the road leading to his chamber, lay her father's lifeless body. My legs gave way beneath her as she rushed to him and fell to her knees beside him, the world around her fading into a blur of tears.
The maids sobbed around her, their grief mingling with her own as she reached out to touch her father's cold, still body. It was obvious her father was murdered on his way to his chamber and the thought of it broke her heart Into pieces. Her father, the man who had always been her rock ever since her mother died while giving birth to her, is now gone in such a senseless, violent way.
She looked up through the haze of tears in her eyes to see the other pack members gathering around, their expressions a mix of shock and sorrow. As the new Alpha, her lover, Alpha Cedric, approached, his voice resonated through the building in authority, Alpha Cedric's gaze met her's, and she saw the sympathy and resolve in his eyes. "We must take your father's body out of this place. There is much to be done, preparations that cannot wait."
Immediately, she watched as the pack guards carried her father's body, heading towards his chambers.
She wanted to speak but words were far from my lips.
