Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

As Sabrina got home, she sneaked into her room as she locked the door. Her knees gave way as she fell to the ground in a pool of her own tears. The thought of what had happened in the previous hours made her weep even harder. First, she lost her father on her birthday, second, she blamed herself for the death of her father, and lastly, she lost her virginity to a stranger whom she had a one-night stand with.

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. "Who's that?" She asked hesitantly.

"It's me, Hannah," the maid replied. "Alpha Cedric had sent me to inform you that his brother is visiting. He expects you to be in your best look." Sabrina listened as she heard footsteps fading away which signified she was already leaving.

Cedric's senior brother, who had chased Cedric out of their pack years ago, had heard the news of Cedric being given the alpha position in this very pack but didn't believe it. He wanted to see with his own two eyes, and that was the main reason for his visit.

Sabrina swiftly took a quick bath, putting on one of her best dresses. Her gown flowed gracefully beneath her feet as she stared at the mirror to compose herself, making sure her face looks presentable. As she left the room, she stood at the right hand side of Alpha Cedric as the distant chanting of praises from the pack members signified that Cedric's brother, one of the greatest alphas in the clan, was approaching.

As he entered the chamber, everyone's head lowered in respect. "Cedric!" He called out loudly, his voice resonating in the room as he sighted Cedric standing by the throne.

"So it's true!" He added, approaching forward. Just then, Sabrina's eyes raised, and to her surprise, there he was. Cedric's senior brother was the same stranger she had a one-night stand with the previous night.

Sabrina's heart raced as she tried to maintain her composure. This was not a situation she had expected to find herself in. The memories of their intimate encounter flooded back to her mind, mixing with the turmoil of emotions she was already grappling with.

The brother, Alpha Alexander, approached Cedric with a serious expression on his face. Sabrina couldn't help but hold her breath.

Alpha Alexander's gaze shifted, and his eyes met Sabrina's. Recognising her, he paused, staring coldly at her.

"So it's true?" He questioned as his gaze shifted from Sabrina to Cedric.

"Yes, it's true." He replied.

Alex chuckled coldly as he took a few steps forward. Now standing in front of the throne, he sat on it,

"I have always wanted to have possession over this pack, to be the alpha of this pack." Alex smiled, adjusting comfortably on the alpha throne. "It's a dream come true," he added when suddenly, murmurings from a few of the pack members rippled through the air as it was obvious his presence wasn't welcomed. He can't just come from nowhere, leaving his own pack and throne and coming to claim another.

Just then, Cedric took a bold step and stood in front of him. "This is my throne," he paused. Pointing towards the throne, he continued. "It rightfully belongs to me, and you do not have any right to sit on it!" he declared. "Stand on your feet or I'll have my guards kick you out," Cedric blurted out.

At the hearing of Cedric's words, Alex burst into laughter. His laugh grew louder and louder as the sound filled the chamber. "Throw him out!" Cedric commanded, but it was unfortunate that his commands fell on deaf ears as Alex continued to laugh loud, more as if he was running mad but it was Cedric's mad attitude he was laughing at.

The pack members watched in silence, unsure of how to react to the escalating tension between the two alphas. Cedric's face twisted in anger, his fists clenched at his sides as he glared at Alex, who was still chuckling uncontrollably on the alpha throne.

"This is no joke." Cedric seethed, his voice dripping with venom. "You have no right to mock me in my own packhouse."

"My dear Cedric," Alex said, his voice mocking and condescending. "You seem to have forgotten the natural order of things. The strongest leads, and the weak follow. You had your chance, but now it's time for a new alpha to take control."

"Is this how to welcome your new Alpha?" He questioned the pack gathering in silence and staring at him. "You!" He pointed towards Sabrina. "Let the maids prepare me some food to eat," he ordered as he approached the late Alpha King's chamber. It had only been some few hours since he was buried, and his room was kept for the current Alpha, Cedric. The room was already cleaned up, with a new canopy bed and many more amenities to make him feel comfortable, but now that Alpha Alex was here, it was all his.

Just then, the door was pushed open as the maids served his meal and walked away. Immediately, Sabrina walked in and shut the door.

"Look who we have here," he said as memories of their one-night stand popped into his head.

"I don't know what you are up to but look, your presence is not needed here." Her words were filled with warnings as she turned to leave but he grabbed her wrist and pulled her back, pinning her to the wall. His fingers began to move slowly from her ears, down to the corner side of her neck. Then his hands travelled to her lips as he caressed them slowly.

"Get off me!" She spat and pushed him away. "Whatever we had last night was a mistake." She added angrily. "Stay away from me! Stay away from this pack!" She warned again as she walked away, shutting the door behind her, causing him to smirk mischievously as he chuckled coldly.

"She speaks so bravely." He said with a smile before returning his attention to his meal. Ready to devour.
