Chapter 6 - Shonen protganist becomes real

I am seriously going to kill her. Why is she bumping into main characters here and there, especially with me being around? What the hell is she trying to do?

The person Lily bumped into had crimson red hair and the same eyes. He looked like a typical shonen anime protagonist, just a little more handsome. He is Charles Edwards, the heir of the Dragondale kingdom. Not only his looks but also his personality is like a typical shonen protagonist. He always thinks he is the protagonist, and he will always come out on top at the end. After watching tons of anime, I can easily guess what he is going to do

"You, Antigonus, I knew you did it on purpose. You want to prove to everyone that Dragondale is weak, but I am not Cynthia; I will not back down from a fight. We people of the Edwards family follow our code: 'Honor above everything.' So, I, Charles Edwards, with my honor on the line, challenge you to a duel."

Damn, this is the problem with these shonen protagonists: they already know they are protagonists and build their own world around them. Why would I want to fight you and for free, man What the hell? But with everybody already recording this, I cannot decline a duel, or the consequences will be worse. Still, I cannot jump into a duel like a hothead. I need to spin it now; this is a fight of honor. Whatever happens, he will come out in profit; time to change the damn script.

Amidst all of this Lily slipped away into the crowd

Clayton's mind raced as he came up with a plan. Clayton's fingers twitched, his heart racing with the thrill of a gamble. He put on a mocking smile and said, "Are you sure you are from the Edwards family? Because from what I hear, they don't bully the weak. As a Rank 4, you are challenging me, a mere Rank 52. Is this the way of Edwards?

Clayton tried to enrage him more and more so he could exploit him. He continued putting on a show "How do you expect me to win in this absurd challenge, and what do I even gain from this challenge? The only way I accept is if you allow me to set some conditions ."

Charles took a step back; he realized he was being set up, but in front of the crowd, he could not sully their family name. His family depends on their honor, and he cannot harm that. This was also a great opportunity for him to get more fame and put Clayton in his place. He wanted Clayton to owe him one so he could extort him in the future. " Sure, I can win anyway," he said, as he still had confidence in defeating a Rank 52. I will win after all. I am fighting for my house's honor and defeating those sleazebag Antigonuses who will sell their souls for profit.

A wide smile spread on Clayton's face. He said, "Wonderful, if I land one hit on you out of 3, I win, and you have to compensate me with a public apology and 1 high-grade arcane stone, and the same for me if I lose. The duel will be held at 5pm after academy at the duel grounds."

Most of the people standing around were shocked because 1 high-grade arcane stone is a treasure that they won't be seeing in all of their lives. High grade arcane stone are used to run very heavy magic or machinery and they are very rare; for two teenagers to betting it like candy blew their minds

"No wonder they are betting high-grade arcane stones. The Antigonus family is really rich, and only a prince like Charles could match him in betting." The crowd murmurs grew larger and larger; Clayton's announcement shook everyone

Even after their leaving, the murmurs did not die down and only grew more. The news went viral, and it became trending. After all, you don't see a battle with stakes and hype like this daily.

Clayton was sitting in his introduction class, which was about to start. Then a pale man dressed in loose black robes with purple designs entered the class. He was wearing small round glasses on his eyes, which gave him a total nerdy look. He walked to his table and said in a cheerful way, "I am Professor Reese, the main professor in charge of the Year 1 class Spades. Everything in your academic life will go through me—any complaints, rewards, missions, or even duels." His eyes lingered on me and Charles.

"Everyone needs to follow rules, whether you are a commoner, noble, or royalty. All of you are the same in the academy. You all have a lot to learn."

"I hope we can get along well," he said. Now for the class today, introduction, I will tell you about the basics of being a Cardweaver .
