Chapter 179 - Powers (178)

[SCENE — NIGHT | SORA'S APARTMENT | LIVING ROOM | FLATSCREEN BLARING WITH SHOUNEN ENERGY]

Sora could be seen looking at the Soul King.

"What do you mean I need training?"

"You have awakened your powers, yet you still lack some control over them. Your reality warping needs some work, and while your control over your Almighty is great, it's still lukewarm," the Soul King explained in a rather calm voice.

Of course it felt lukewarm to the Soul King—his fourth pupil comparing Sora's Almighty to his was like comparing the reading comprehension of people who actually study that shit... and average webnovel readers.

{That's not me}

...

[Who they gonna believe, a fictional character or you... suck it.]

...

"I meant what I said," the Soul King said calmly.

"Fine, let me test out something." Sora closed his eyes a bit. He had an idea—a fun way to test out his eyes' ability.

Time skip.

The Soul King could be seen wearing what seemed to be an anime t-shirt with a picture of Bankai Ichigo on it.

...

...

Sora sat next to him, wrapped in a blanket that had Goku dabbing on it.

On-screen, Goku just screamed. Loudly. For five minutes.

The aura flared.

The camera spun.

Everything turned gold.

"Behold," Sora whispered with reverence, "this... is culture."

The Soul King blinked slowly. "...He has been screaming for four minutes and thirty-nine seconds."

"Because he's ascending, Your Majesty. He's going Super Saiyan. Pay attention."

"Why not simply kill the opponent immediately?"

"Because it's not about logic," Sora explained dramatically, "it's about vibes."

Another beat passed. The music swelled. Goku yelled louder.

A mountain exploded. Birds cried.

"...Does that man have any internal organs left?"

"Shh," Sora whispered, tears forming in his eyes. "This is peak male performance."

The Soul King turned his gaze to the next episode preview. "And they are... still screaming."

Sora clicked pause and switched the channel.

"It's art. He's turning Super Saiyan 3—he needs that," he said with a smile.

"When I told you to use your Almighty more creatively, I did not mean this," the man said, looking at Sora.

"You adore me," Sora replied, watching as the next show popped up.

Next up: Naruto.

Specifically, the scene of Naruto trying to make friends with Gaara while both of them had tailed beasts rampaging in their souls.

The Soul King tilted his head slightly as he watched Kurama threaten to devour Naruto's entire existence.

"...So this child was neglected and abused, weaponized by a militarized government, and his answer was to make friends with the monster inside him?"

"Exactly," Sora whispered. "We stan emotionally intelligent trauma response."

"...And this was for children?"

Sora paused. "...Yes, but also no."

"This is the universe you sent Aizen's soul to, correct?"

"I do know why you even ask, considering you know everything—but yes," Sora replied calmly.

"You do realize that his existence would threaten the balance, correct? Putting a new soul in that world..."

The Soul King added, looking at his son, who shrugged.

"Heh, what's the worst that can happen? Not like Naruto has aliens who can sense that shit," Sora said, shrugging his shoulders.

The Soul King's Almighty was open.

Yep—those pale-skinned creatures jumping the fuck out of future Seijuro (Aizen) were definitely aliens.

"Fine, I will protect him till he is strong enough. It won't be fun if he gets spawn-camped." As Sora said those words, baby Seijuro was no longer getting ganked the second he was born—out here avoiding being spawn-camped by Ishiki.

Sora changed it to the next show.

Next: Bleach.

Specifically, Ichigo yelling "Getsuga... TENSHOU!" in HD remaster.

The Soul King's brow lifted slightly. "...This feels autobiographical."

Sora nodded solemnly. "This part? This is where he cuts a guy in half with an existential metaphor."

"...Why does he shout the name of his attack?"

"To assert dominance."

Soul King blinked.

Sora switched again. My Hero Academia.

A kid breaking his bones repeatedly in public school combat.

"...What is this one's trauma?" the Soul King asked flatly.

"His idol told him to eat his hair."

"...I beg your pardon?"

Sora nodded. "That's literally how he inherited his power."

"...That's not a power transfer. That's a disease vector."

Sora snorted Ramune out of his nose.

Soul King looked over. "Your human media is... chaotic."

"We are," Sora said proudly, "a beautiful, screaming species."

The Soul King looked back at the TV. Naruto was currently headbutting Gaara in the face while crying.

"...I think I like this one."

Sora blinked. "Naruto?"

"Yes." He smiled faintly. "He makes the same mistakes I did... but he gets a hug afterwards."

Sora choked a bit on that one.

"...You okay?"

"...Yeah," Sora sniffled, wiping his eye.

"You were a kid at some point. Last I checked, didn't you just spawn in busted—like born straight from the womb of the multiverse and started throwing hands with powerful-ass Hollows and cosmic Satan?"

"I made some mistakes. By murdering so many Hollows, I threatened the balance and would have destroyed this world that I so cherished," he said calmly.

"Good to know. If I can, I would much rather befriend that cosmic being instead of whatever you guys did."

The Soul King chuckled, as if the idea was funny.

"Well, considering how things are now, your nemesis should have taken control of some random human by now. I'm sure as long as he has some form of humanity, we can come to an agreement."

Sora's Almighty could be seen playing through some memories, skipping over some for privacy reasons.

"He destroyed the Seireitei."

"And? He had a good reason. Personally, I would have done it for less," he said, shrugging a bit.

"Plus, Soul Society ain't exactly the best—sucks major ass with its problems. Plus, he has someone to keep him grounded, so as long as no one touches Harribel, it's fine," Sora said softly.

"Didn't you almost kill her?"

A bead of sweat could be seen falling down his brow.

"Heh, different universe. Plus, he doesn't need to know that," Sora said with a smile.
