"I was caught at a crossroad, where I had to choose between my mate and you, Aurora. I know any sane person would have obviously chosen their mate over a child who is not their own. But I couldn't do that."
"Why?" I whispered. I needed to know the reason she chose me over her mate.
"Because I love you more than my life, Aurora. You are the meaning of my life. You came to me when I was at a stage where I completely gave up on living." my eyes burned with tears and I couldn't hold it in anymore.
This woman, who had no connection to me, sacrificed her mate for me. I abruptly got up from my place and ran towards her as I pulled her into a tight hug. "I am sorry, mom. I shouldn't have acted that way." I mumbled in her ears as she gently stroked my hair. "I am sorry about Dad as well."
